Hybrid

It took 30 minutes before Rei succeeded to annihilate the four skeleton warriors on this vast floor. To be honest, he should be glad after surviving with these monsters, however, his expression showing different.

"Why did you kill us?! We are just peaceful living in our habitat..."

His eyes widened as he felt guilty killing these pure monsters. Also, even those words came from the monster and its voice seemed like coming beneath the ground, still, he understood very well.

"Why I can understand that monster's language? On top of that, why they were saying I invaded their habitat? Even they were the one attacked me first?" He defended himself.

To explain why Rei can understand the monster's language.

Rei was the type of creature called Hybrid when the monster's gene and human's gene combined in a specific body. In this case, he can easily tell why he had the physique of the human body and some parts of the kobold which were the scales, claws, fangs, and violet eyes. Aside from that, because of the monster's gene, his physical body, and his senses were greatly enhanced.

Sometimes, Hybrid Creature hadn't had full control of their bodies as the monster's blood was overtaking it. But in Rei's case, he still had the mind of a human so nothing would become a problem about it.

Moreover, the main reason why he thought he was able to understand the monster's language, it because of the monster's blood. It's the right explanation for the given circumstance.

He took a deep breath, then slowly shook his head. "I should stop thinking about them. The only I need is to care about myself and found a way to get out of here."

Fluff... Fluff...

He mildly slapped his cheeks to awakened his senses. When he felt comfortable, he narrowly looked at the blue screen that appeared right before his eyes.

Well, the quest was self-explanatory as he just has to stay alive within 5 days. Despite all the notifications he received, there was one thing here that really piqued his attention.

"First evolution? What's that?" He asked himself in a serious tone.

Of course, he had an idea about the word evolution, but the main thing here was, what kind of evolution? As it's the process where a certain creature would have a new appearance and improvement with its abilities.

Back in the game, there's a rumor that the kobold race was somehow related to the dragon race. Their basis was the outward appearance of the Kobold as it was looked like a dragon, yet, for Rei, the kobold had a resemblance with the lizard.

He was dumbfounded at the screen for a couple of minutes, but no matter how he tried to think what kind of evolution he would have. Still, nothing came up inside his head.

"Jeez! This is hard! If it's the monster like a goblin, I can easily guess what evolution I would have!" He scratched the back of his head, feeling that he was feeling some of his soft scales.

He removed all the elevated screens in front of him at once. "Since I don't have any clues with this evolution, I should stop and wait for that day to come."

Rei surrendered to think about it, then took a glance at the four monsters' corpses that were lying on the dried golden brown surface.

Monster's core, that was the exact thing he was inside of his mind right now. The core was the item you can get after killing a monster and selling it on the market to get accumulated money for it.

Rei walked closer to the monster who had a rusty sword in its grasp. In his opinion, it was a versatile weapon for anyone and can be useful for other things. He didn't intend to take the spear and the wooden bow, knowing he hadn't the ability to wield those weapons.

"I can increase my power spike with this sword, so I think it's worth it for having it. Also, I don't have enough precision to use the bow." He said in a deep one, after that swung his left arm directly at the monster.

He seized the monster's core of the monsters without making any second thought as he wanted to continue his journey right away.

In his grasp was the two inches red-violet crystal, its size was small enough to hide inside his pocket. Back in the game, they used to collect the core to earn real money.

"Honestly, I don't have any reason to get these cores. However, my guts told me that they can be useful for me in other ways." Rei muttered, then took the torch the mounted on the post.

Rei walked to the place where he can see the dark hallway...

In that fight, he gained two levels that game +2 attributes to all stats, at the same time, he had 7 free attributes and 1 skill point. In order to increase his health power and defense, he put 2 free attributes in his vitality and strength in by just simply clicking the [+] sign on the blue screen. After that, he was aware that he lacked his speed so he raised his agility by +2 free attributes and +1 to his intelligence.

What about the Dexterity? For him, it wasn't the right time to invest his attributes in this stat. Why? It had a simple answer; Rei was depending on his claws to fight the monsters. In his mind, dexterity was the ability when the person can increase his handling skill, so it was such a waste if he put some attributes there since he wasn't using any type of weapon. He just took the sword for additional purposes.

After a few were moments, he closed the tab screen and focused himself on this hallway. Thanks to his torch, he was able to have a vision in this place.

Based on his observations, there's a high possibility a new type of monster would approach him here. "I mustn't lower my guards."

20 minutes had easily passed, luckily, there were no monsters trying to attack him. Yet, he was still in the hallway and paused for a second after he saw the way was separated into two paths.

Hmm...

He was gently pinching his chin with his dark fingernails, thinking which one of these paths was the better to take.

First thing first, to describe the place he was standing in, it was the hallway that had 5 meters in height and 4 meters in width.

"If I need to fight a monster to increase my level, I have to choose one of the paths here. But the thing here is, I should pick the right path where the monsters there had the same ability as me."

Well, he was quite right that the monsters that will come to him could be reached by his capabilities. So that he could avoid being on the disadvantaged side.

He went to the right side as his guts were saying to do so. He traveled here for almost 15 minutes and just stopped again after seeing a green door in front of him.

"This door isn't hard to open though, not like the first door that I having through." He grabbed the two rounded handlebars, then pulled with some strength.

Ehhk...

The groaned door as it was giving way. "See? I can open it by just using with a mild strength-"

He couldn't complete his sentence as he suddenly tasted the scent of iron. By just looking at the door, he knew the small gap he created to open it wasn't that enough to release a strong smell like this.

"Blood?"

It was the first thing that come to his mind when he smelled it as it was also the right definition to describe it.

In Ranker's World Online, this game allowed the players to use their senses while they were inside the mage. Taste, smell, hearing, vision, and touch, were one of the main reasons why the players love this game. Also, people who were afraid to receive some pain could turn off this function in the setting section.

As soon as he pushed the door, heard the sound of metals were colliding with each other and a strong explosion transpired in the middle of the vast platform.

Bam!

His eyes were widened after seeing skeleton mages and kobolds were having a war. "How it could be?"

Chief!

Help us here!

Chief, you came back! We can win this war!

"Eh? Chief? Me?"
