The First Funeral

Out of all the funerals Persephone had been to in her life, this one was hands down the most entertaining. Since she was technically the widow, she sat on the throne, draped head to toe in black. She was able to keep her face hidden behind a black veil, but made sure to put on a sad voice when someone came to pay their respects. It seemed like everyone came to see the new king be buried.

What was interesting was seeing the reactions from each of the guests. The men who were also on the King’s Guard and friends of Casper were sad but keeping it together to not look too weak. Casper’s family was of course devastated (something that caused a streak of regret to go through her heart). But the women…some of the women who came up to Persephone looked almost…relieved? Persephone never asked Delphi who the victims were, but she hoped they at least felt a little safer now that Casper was gone.
