A Shift in Plans

Persephone didn’t get a wink of sleep that night. All she could do was stare at the ceiling, at the same time dreading and wishing Delphi would come back. How did she explain this to her? All the blood on both of their hands for nothing. This was exactly what she was afraid of when the Royal Advisors first told her she had to marry. Not only would she be losing her love, she was going to lose her freedom. Remington wouldn’t want to wait long to knock her up. And once she gave birth to a son…she would be hitting the final nail in her coffin.

The light of the early morning dawn poured into the window. That was when Delphi finally came through the door.

“Princess?” Delphi said softly, going to the bed and sitting down. “Sep, I have so much to tell you.”

Persephone squeezed her eyes shut, “It doesn’t matter.”

“What do you mean? Of course it does, I’ve learned some disturbing things.”

“It doesn’t matter because I cannot kill him.”
