Chapter 15 - The Witch's Tale

“I speak the truth,” Ann replied in a soft soothing tone.

"The witches want me but technically as you said, I'm a werewolf. So why will I pick sides with the witches and not my kind even if I want to be part of this shit?"

"There's something else we didn't mention to you because you didn't give us the time to."

"Now you have the time. So start talking before I change my mind!"

"Why are you rude? We are not the bad guys here but the werewolves are."

"Seems like you got nothing to say. Is time for you to leave!" Lucas rose to his feet and frowned at Ann with his hand pointed to the door.

"I'm sorry if I'm out of place. Please sit down. I promise to tell you everything you need to know." Ann apologizes as she gently taps on the couch gesturing for Lucas to sit. After Lucas have sat beside her again, she continued in a soft refined voice. "The truth is, you are one of us just that Jones reached out to you first. Your mother was a witch just like Bonnie. She belongs to the white clan. She possesses a mystic orb that can make the werewolves human again. When Jones heard of this, he didn't want to see that happen. He wanted to remain a werewolf forever, so he killed your mother on her way home. We believe the mystic orb is hidden in a safe place and only you can help us find it. With the mystic orb, we can make the werewolves human again and eventually end the war. We can't do this without you Lucas and this is why we need your help."

Lucas adjusts on the couch. He swallowed a lump in his throat. This is shocking and even when he tried not to believe this, there is every reason to because he has seen his mother severally on the full moon speaking to the moon. This is now making sense to him. All these years of going to church with his mother were just a cover-up to who she really is. With his eyes fixed on Ann, he asked, "Is my father aware of my mother's identity as a witch?"

"Your mother never told anyone."

"So you are telling me my mother was a witch and possesses an object that can make the werewolves human again?"

"Yes Lucas, yes."

"My mother is dead and I'm not like her. So you found yourself the wrong guy to help you."

“Don’t do it for us, do it for your mother.”

Lucas rose to his feet as he snapped at Ann. “My mother lied to us. She lied to my father.”

“I understand how you feel but that’s for your safety.” Ann climbs down the couch. She looked up to Lucas and continued. “You are your mother’s spawn and she was the leader of the white clan.”

“That’s none of my business.”

“Do you know why this concerns you?”

“I don’t care anymore.”

Lucas’ suddenly changed his mindset towards his mother. He has always seen her as someone who is transparent only to learn of her secret practice of witchery. Not even his father knew about this. ‘What’s so special about this that she kept it hidden from us?’ he thought to himself.

“I can hear your thoughts. You are wondering what’s special about this that your mother kept it from you and your dad?” Ann Grinned. As a Kik, she hears people’s thoughts. That’s another power every Kik possesses. She approaches Lucas and held him by the hand. “You have the powers of your mother in you and Jones has seen this. He knows you will be a threat to him and his pack when you find out who you really are. That’s why he turned you. You are the first werewolf with the gene of a witch. This makes you half wizard, half-werewolf, stronger than both.”

On hearing this, Lucas pulled away from Ann. This is getting weird and it’s time for her to go. He walks up to the door and slammed it open showing her the way out. “It’s time for you to leave, now!”

“I have told you the truth and you do not believe me. Perhaps it’s time for me to walk you down the memory lane of your mother.” With a snap of fingers, Ann disappeared with Lucas into white glowing light.

MYSTIC CAVE

Mysteriously they appeared in a cave filled with precious stones of all kinds. The cave was covered with mist. The mist changes color, from white to red, from red to black, and then white again. “What’s this place?” Lucas asked staring around in fear. His life is becoming a mystery to him since he was attacked in the woods by Alpha Jones.

“This place is called the mystic cave. This is where the witches both the dark and the white clan witches meet to commune with the memory of the event they wish to know. In this cave, the immeasurable powers of the witches are preserved.”

“I don’t like it here, take me back home!” Lucas cried out. The mystic cave looks creepy with some mysterious and monstrous drawings on the rocky walls that terrified Lucas. The mist that changes colors made him think he was already in hell.

“Not yet. You need to know who you are.” Ann grabbed Lucas by the hand, leading him to a statue of a woman. The head was covered with a striped cloth of red, white, and black making it impossible for Lucas to see the face as Ann continued. “Mystic cave was first discovered by the first white witch known as Kora 90,000 years ago when she was pursued by an enemy whose name was hidden from the witches because it’s believed we are not worthy to know him or even say his name. His army pursued Kora down to this cave, in her defense, she slaughtered them all. From that very moment, she became a dark witch. She fled and no one ever saw her again.”

“What does this has to do with my identity?” Lucas asked filled with curiosity.
