Even though Lucas is staying in their neighbors’ house, Detective White wants to be the one driving him to school. With their house still considered an act of crime scene, Detective White has made the station his new home and his desk his new bed. He pulls over in front of Orleans High School as usual. As Lucas wants to open the door, his father automatically locked the door. He turns off the ignition and then casts a mean gaze on his son and then begins to speak. “A lot of things have been happening lately and I don’t want to lose you. Let my number be the first to call when you sense any danger. I don’t want you getting hurt and staying away from that Jack of a person. Got it?”
“Got it!” Lucas nods his head in agreement with what his father has just said. “Can I go now?” he asked in a soft tone.
Detective White quickly deactivated the lock. “Of course,” he said.
