I could feel his need. I didn’t refuse his advance and kissed him back.
My body just reacted on its own. When I came back to my senses, I pushed him away. I stood my back facing him, wiping my mouth.
“No. It’s not right.” I trembled slightly
“I am sorry. I don’t know what came over me,” Peter said, standing behind me. I could feel his presence, and boy, my body reacted to him. I didn’t see that coming.
“It’s okay,” I said without turning to look at him. I didn’t know what us to have an awkward relationship.
“Look, Peter. I don’t want us to ruin the great relationship we have together. I have my personal relationship issues to sort out. I don’t need too many complications added to it.” I sign, turning to face him, “I don’t want this to repeat itself,” I said, looking at him
Given an opportunity, I would have loved to be with Peter if James was not in the picture. He was a fantastic guy.
Peter moved close to me and looked hurt. He was somehow fighting emotions that I could see in his eyes. I don’t know when it started, but I saw how he looked at me differently.
“I understand,” Peter said, intending to go out
I called out to him before he reached the door
“In you, I find a friend and an elder brother. I hope it stays that. I don’t want to lose any of that.” I said, and I swear to have seen a genuine smile from Peter that I never saw did before
He went out and returned to my seat to look over the last contract we got.
“I will send Peter to this event. I don’t feel like going to city S. I should take this moment to go back home.” I said to myself, thinking of my dad
“Let’s finish this event first. That’s all that matters.” I tried to keep my mind on the work, but it kept on drifting back to James. A slight smile crept at the corner of my mouth without me knowing. Oh, how I had missed that beautiful face, voice, and the powerful presence he had was something else. I never saw that in him before. He looked different. He seemed to have undergone a 180-degree change in his personality. He was sweet, yes, but overbearing as well.
“What the nerve.” I cursed under my breath, thinking of his arrogant words
“Let’s see if you will force me to be with you.”
Three days passed fast before I knew it. I had to attend the last Event touches in city S. Peter had gone with the best staff and planned to hire a few from there to finish an engagement party.
I prepared and called for a taxi to take me to the airport. It will only take me thirty minutes to 45 to be there, unlike taking a whole lot of six hours to drive.
The moment I opened the gate. A tall, handsome man with a suitcase was standing right outside, looking straight at me. I was shocked. Nothing could describe what I felt at that moment. I was happy. Somehow my heart jolted, and I was pissed as well.
“What are you doing here?” I asked
“Well, since you didn’t want to move in with me. I decided to move in with you.” He said, snatching the keys on my walking past me going inside the house. I did not even close the gate and followed him.
“Hey, wait. James. It’s not time for jokes. I need to go to work,” I said behind him, trying to catch up. His long legs were too fast for me.
“You go to work. You will find me at home waiting for you.” He said, trying the different keys until he found the right one. He opened the door and went in, sinking on the couch.
“Come on, James, I want to go.”
“You go. I am not holding you. Or do you wish for me to do it?” he said, and I felt pissed. I hissed at him and went out. I took a waiting taxi.
“How comes you are the one that picks me up every day?” I asked the taxi man as I was getting in
“I live near here, and most of the time, I am the one nearest when you apply for a ride,” he said
“Okay. Why don’t you give me your number and I can hire you to take me to and fro” I had thought of the same before, but I didn’t want to ask him. Now that I got the chance, I did it.
“That would be great, ma’am” he said smiling.
There was something about the man that I could not put my finger about. He looked too good to be a taxi driver. His being the only one picking me in over two weeks raised a bit of alarm. I wanted to get his details and go to the taxi company to search for his employment record.
There was a bit of delay before we boarded the plane from the small airport of West city. I looked at my ticket number and sat down in the middle. Before the plane left, I felt too pressed to hold on and went to the bathroom.
I came back, and all the seats were filled, and the attendant announced those safety precautions thing but, I didn’t pay attention.
I thought I saw someone familiar from the back. His back was too familiar. I wanted to check, but the attendant warned us we were about to take off. I didn’t pay too much attention to him again. I had left him at home. There was no way he would be at the airport.
At S city, I got off the plane, but I didn’t see the figure from earlier. I found Peter waiting for me. I boarded the car and left.
What I didn’t know was what awaited me ahead was horrible.
