I followed the way Alicia told me and it didn't take me long before I reached a room that looked a library.
The door of that room was made of dark oak and it was slightly bigger compared to the other doors.
Since there wasn't anyone here, I pushed the door and it opened. Apparently, it was unlocked.
As I entered the room, the smell of paper and leather entered my nostrils. It was definitely a library.
I moved forward and the door closed automatically. This library was nothing like the local one I used to visit. The books are placed on wooden shelves of a height of around twelve or thirteen feet. All the books had a leather cover and the title of each book was embedded on the outer side of the leather cover.
I was so amazed by the looks that for a moment I forgot what I came here to do.
I wandered around to find geography books but sadly the books here weren't divided into sections so it was not an easy task to find a book on a specific topic.
The room itself was pretty big since it's filled with shelves, I can't tell how big it is but if I take a guess its area would be equal to four rooms of a five-star hotel.
For fifteen minutes, I wandered ideally to find the type of book I was looking for but in the end, all that I found was disappointment.
"It certainly feels weird to be alone in a library this big," I mumbled.
As those words escape from my mouth; I suddenly felt a presence behind me. Suddenly I heard a girl's voice "Isn't it good to be alone in the library? It's more quite this way," she said.
I quickly turned around to see whose there, and what I saw was not what I expected.
A girl with a petite body was floating in the air, and that's not the thing that surprised me. I won't be surprised even if I saw a cat floating around in this world. The thing which surprised me was that her whole body was glowing in pink colour and she was very slightly translucent.
She had a smile on her face when she saw me panic.
For safety, I stepped back and put my guard up, but she didn't react that much.
"Who are you? No, what are you?" I asked.
"Don't worry I'm not a ghost."
"That's what all ghosts say," I tried to provoke her, to check her behavior but she was calm.
"I'm a spirit who's assigned to guard this library," she said.
"Spirit huh, from what I know spirits are small round, and bright balls of energy?"
"Isn't that rude!" she said as she floated towards me.
At this point, I managed to calm down myself a bit so I stayed in my place this time.
"So since you guard this library, do you want me to go?" I asked, it was a genuine question if you ask me.
"No. I came because you called me."
"Huh, I didn't"
"No you said, you did say that you are feeling alone in this library didn't you?" she asked.
"Well I certainly said that but how did I call you by saying that?"
"I'm told to make myself visible when the person who's in this library feels alone but has a strong desire to read," she explained.
"Ah, so that's how it works," I mumbled as I nodded.
Did the king install this spirit here or is this a free package that came with the castle? That was the first thing that came to my mind.
Well, since she's here I think I should take her help; maybe sometimes it's better to not think too much about some things.
"You said you're here to help me right?" I asked.
"Hmph," she nodded.
"Well, then can you tell me where the geography books are placed here?"
"Geography books?" she looked confused as she started thinking about it while putting her finger on her chin.
Oh god, how did I forget about this!
"I mean the books which have maps in them," I corrected myself.
"Oh, those books!"
She snapped her finger and seven bundles of books, with around ten to twelve books in each bundle materialized on the floor.
'Show off huh,' I said to myself in my mind.
I'm sure there was a less fancy way to do this.
"Are these enough?" she asked.
That means there are more of these, well I should first read these I guess.
"For now, yes," I said and started to pick a book from the bundle.
*
Around 4 hours later
*
Phew!
This was some useful stuff! Though she—spirit girl— was floating too close to me and was staring at me continuously, it was a little hard to focus but I managed anyway.
"Are you done?" she asked.
I nodded and stood up. Apparently, I was sitting on the floor since there was nothing else to sit on. (No I won't sit on her! You dirty-minded people!)
The geographical info I got is like this, there are five main bodies on the map of this world: The demon kingdom, The Empire, Land of Dragons, Einzbern Kingdom, and the Ronze Kingdom.
The kingdom, I'm currently in is the Ronze kingdom, it shares its northern borders with the Demon kingdom, western borders with the Empire, and southern borders with the Einzbern Kingdom.
There are also small kingdoms, and villages but since those are not important to me not so I didn't study them in detail. From what I know now, the demon kingdom is the largest body on the world map, after that is the empire which is made of three kingdoms and is ruled by one emperor.
Since the maps were not that detailed, I wasn't able to find the exact structure of the demon kingdom but now that I know where and how it's located, it will be fine I guess.
"Don't you have anything else to read now?" she asked me when I was putting the books back in order.
"Yeah I'm done here; I should hurry and go back. Maybe it's morning already," I replied as I stretched my arms to relieve my stiff shoulders.
"Huh! Leaving already? If you are worried about time and it's not a problem," she said as she floated right next to my face, her face was half a finger away from mine.
"What do you mean?"
"You see, in this library, time flows slowly compared to the world outside. One hour here is one second one minute outside."
"What!" I shouted in amusement.
"Hehe," she chuckled like she was proud of this as she floated backward.
I mean…if it's really like this then this is heaven! I can get all the information I want without wasting much time in the outside world.
This really is something!
"Let's see if I have anything else I want to read," I mumbled to myself as I walked beside the bookshelves, trying to find anything valuable to read.
Since right now I only want to focus on my strategy to assassinate Hanako, I don't want to fill up my mind with other information.
"Huh, this looks interesting!" I stopped by a book that looked interesting to me.
Its title is [Myths of the magical beasts].
So magical beasts do exist here huh, even if the title is myths there must be some truth to it. You know what they say: if there's smoke, there's fire.
The possibility of someone just randomly writing these myths is close to zero, some people must have seen these beasts in the past and as time flowed forward, slowly those sightings turned into rumors and then finally myths.
"I wonder if they are like the ones I added in the game," I said to myself as I flipped through the pages of that book.
After reading that book for a while I was sure of one thing, the magical beasts which are described in this book are pretty much the same as the ones I added in my VRMMORPG.
Some of the spells from my game work in this world, the mobs I added in my game are also here as myths, this world is exactly not the same as my game but it's not entirely different either.
Wait a minute…
If the magical beasts are here I wonder if that spell can also be used!
'Well, I'll try it once I'm done with this war shit,' I made a mental note and placed that book back in its place.
"Bye spirit girl! I'll come back if I wanted more information," I waved to that spirit girl and left the library.
When I came outside there was still pitch dark, the night was still on.
The time thing is real I guess.
"I think now I should get some sleep," I yawned and started walking towards the stairs which led to my room.
—Step
—Step
—Step
I heard someone walking toward me at a fast pace.
Soon that person came in sight, it was Alicia. 'What is she doing here?' I thought to myself.
She stopped a few steps after me.
"Umm, sorry," she said, why is she saying sorry?
"Why are you apologizing?"
"I told you the wrong way earlier, the library is on the third floor not the second."
"…"
"That's it, I only came to tell you this," she said and walked away.
I was still standing there, alone, not even moving a muscle.
"Am I in a fucking horror movie!" I screamed.
