Warmup

"Third-tier magic: [Ember shot]," I said as I launched a fire ball from my right hand. It flew in the air for a while and then clashed with a boulder, completely destroying it.

"No, this is not good enough," I muttered.

Right now I was in the middle of a forest, practicing some of my magic spells. I still have one day left till the mission to assassinate Hanako. I had nothing major to do for the time being so I left the castle and came here.

I wanted to check how many of the spells I added in my game works here, since the spells mages use here are not that good and low leveled (at least in this city).

I am done testing low-mid level spells, now it's time to try some of the high-level ones.

I stood straight and closed my eyes, applying my focus on my surroundings.

"Seventh-tier magic: [Discharge]," I said and opened my eyes.

Black-coloured energy settled around me in the shape of a hemisphere and then expanded in the blink of an eye. As it hit the surroundings, the trees dried, rocks crumbled, and the leaves on the ground, burned.

This spell releases concentrated negative rays at the speed of light, whatever these rays hit, either gets burned or melted. It's a pretty overpowered spell but its only disadvantage is that these rays (or this black coloured energy) lose their effects after traveling a few meters.

Not being able to use any spell after tenth-tier is really a drag. My favorite spells which I added in the game were mostly god-tier or cosmic-tier.

'Ah well, I can't do anything about that now,' I sighed inwardly.

After trying a few more spells, now I decided to take a look at my physical powers also. This character wasn't overpowered only in magic but in physical strength also. Though it is not as powerful on 2% as it is on 100%, it's still more than enough.

Plus I had an idea to increase it more.

I concentrated on my mana and increased the mana flow in my fists. Both of my fists started slightly glowing in translucent blue colour.

I stood in a boxing pose and punched in the air. As I did, I felt an impact like I was hitting something solid.

The ground in front of me collapsed in a straight line, and the trees which came under the affected area got blown away. The collapse of the ground stopped after around 10 or 20 meters. I looked around and saw that the leaves, which were tossed in the air from the trees, were slowly coming down.

"Isn't this a bit too much?" I said to myself.

Wait, I wonder if I can use that! I always wanted to use it ever since I was a kid.

Let's try it!

I stood straight and placed both of my hands in a position like I was holding a ball, I focused and started filling the empty area between my palms with intense mana.

A dim blue-colored energy ball appeared in between my palms and its brightness and size started increasing slowly.

I took a deep breath through my mouth.

"Ka...me....ha....me....ha!" I screamed and moved my hands upwards at 45-degree angle, targeting the sky.

Yellow-coloured energy surrounded my body.

The ball of energy charged fully and I blasted it into the sky. Its force was too much that the ground started shaking slightly.

A few seconds later it ended as the energy in the ball ran out.

"Man, this sure feels amazing!" I mumbled.

Then I practiced some more spells till evening and then went back to the castle.

***

I have power but I lack fighting experience, it was like you started playing a new game and your friend gave you his maxed-out account. You have everything but don't know how to use it properly. Something similar was happening to me.

To be honest, I was able to use magic correctly because the concept was similar to my game. You have to imagine what the spell does and how it does that. Chanting the name wasn't necessary for me but I do it anyway because it sounds cool, though I don't know if it's the same for everyone.

I was also holding back most of my power even on 2% because if by mistake I released a dangerous spell, this city will be doomed.

I was lost in thought as I walked in the hallway of the castle.

I was headed towards Jessica's room, in the morning when I asked Mary about her, she said that after the death of her father (king), she has locked herself in her room.

Actually, I was not that surprised, in fact, she was the only one who was acting like someone who lost their parent. Zen and Mary were too relaxed; well I know that was from outside but still…sometimes it's good to let your emotions come out.

'Look who's saying this, the person who is using a skill to suppress his emotions!' I mocked myself in my thoughts.

I reached her room and knocked on the door, "Jessica, it's me Haruto."

Does she even know that I'm in the castle?

I waited for a while but no one replied; after waiting I knocked again but still, the response was the same.

"If you won't open the door I'll come inside from the window," of course this was a lie, I don't even know even if there was a window in her room or not.

A few minutes later, the door opened with a *click* sound and Jessica peaked from inside.

"What do you want?" she asked.

So she does know that I'm in the castle and working with his brother.

"It's cold outside," I said, the night was up so the air was cool.

She fully opened the door and I went in; inside the room was a big bed with white bed sheets on it.

She went and sat on the bed.

"So?" she said, looking towards me.

I did come here to somewhat console her but I really don't know what should I say.

What? What did you expect from this loner introvert?

I'm not one of those protagonists from harem isekai anime, where they have a formal, white knight-type script in their hand whenever they meet a girl.

Ah well, I should at least say something since I came here.

"Why are you not coming outside from your room?" I asked.

"Well…..it's none of your business," she replied, turning her face away from me.

"I know about what happened with your father. It's okay to be sad but don't do it too much that it affects you in a bad way."

"It's easy for you to say, our mother passed away when we were young so dad was all I have. Now that he's gone…I don't know…I fell like…empty."

I'd say I somewhat understand that feeling of emptiness, it's hard to deal with it. It's like you fell into a never ending void.

To stop falling and find a new thing to live your life for, whether it's a person, hobby, place, or even anime. That emptiness won't go away until you find a new thing for yourself, and it can take ten days to ten years.

"Since it was a demon who killed your father, do you want war with the demon kingdom?" I asked as I sat on a chair that was there.

"No, I don't want to create more people like me. My father won't come back even if we waged war on the whole world," she said.

"If he won't come back by waging a war on the whole world, then he definitely can't come back even if you stayed in this room for the rest of your life."

"…"

She didn't reply.

"You still have your brother and sister with you, let go of the past and be with them. It isn't a thing which you can accomplish in a day but that doesn't mean you shouldn't try." I said, looking at the night sky from the window. (There *was* a window in the room, a big one.)

"That's all I wanted to say," I said and stood up from the chair and walked towards the door.

"You sound like you have also lost your parents," she said from the back.

I opened the door slowly and then replied.

"Is that so," I left and closed the door.

When I was going towards my room, I saw a maid coming towards my room from the other side. When she saw me, she came to me instead of my room.

"His majesty has called you to the throne room," she said.

Zen called me?

"Okay," I replied and she left after hearing my reply.

What could it be that he wants to discuss at this time?
