'Ahh, I killed a person, a human, an intelligent creature, yet I don't feel any guilt…way to go [Placid Mind],' Haruto thought to himself.
"What are you bastard," screamed a bandit as he charged toward Haruto.
Haruto turned in the direction the other bandits were; the dark energy which was around Haruto was like an outline of his body, it increased and gave a dark, heavy, and terrifying look.
"Release the villagers and I won't kill you," said Haruto.
The bandit who was charging at him didn't listen; he held his sword tightly, completely prepared to attack Haruto.
"Sigh!" Haruto sighed, he was tired and disappointed, the level of stupidity of these bandits is even higher than he imagined.
"Now blame your friend for what's about to happen, not me," Haruto mumbled.
The dark energy around him took the shape of a big, dark-violet-colored flame; some small bright white particles were also being released in the air.
Suddenly the body of the bandit who was running toward Haruto fell to the ground, the same thing happened with all the other bandits. As soon as their bodies fell to the ground, a bright ball of energy left the body of the bandits, it flew upwards for a while and then disappeared.
It was their soul which Haruto had separated from their body to end this without wasting any time.
It all went just as expected; all the bandits were dropped dead with their lifeless bodies lying on the ground.
"Even now I feel so calm that it's scary," Haruto whispered.
'Am I losing my humanity?' he thought.
Every bandit was dead, except one, it was the one who tried to stop Ors, his name was Scar. Haruto had left him alive but it was not an act of mercy.
"Hey you," Haruto said to Scar.
"Y-Yes," he replied slowly, he was scared as fuck after witnessing what just happened. 'What a monster he is,' was what Scar thought of Haruto.
"You'll take me to your base," Haruto ordered.
"O-Okay, I understand. I'll take you there," Scar replied, only a fool would rebel against Haruto at this point.
Haruto then turned towards the villagers and walked in their direction, the ropes which were tying their hands went on fire and got burned to dust but their hands were unharmed.
It was Haruto using [Fire Control], he could control exactly what the fire created by the spell will do, its nature, and its shape.
"You're all free now, but listen to me before you leave. This village was never raided understand? None of this ever happened," said Haruto as he stood in front of the villagers and the adventurers who were there.
"You, you're Haruto right?" said an adventurer girl.
"Yeah, he definitely looks like him."
"By the way, Haruto is not among the rest of us."
"Are you really Haruto?"
The people there started discussing among themselves if the person who saved them was Haruto or not.
"No no, I don't know who you are talking about," said Haruto.
"Huh? But you really look like him! I mean even your hair color and clothes are the same."
Though it was hidden because of his mask, Haruto had a weird 'Oop' smile. He never really noticed that even if he's wearing a full-face mask, the color of his hair and his clothes are the same as before.
"I'm the one you all know as 'The Masked Mage'," said Haruto.
"What? The Masked Mage! You…You're real!"
"Really! The Masked Mage!"
"Well, yeah, that's who I am," said Haruto.
"Damn it's amazing; the masked mage who defeated the demon lord is here with us."
"Can you guys make stand in a straight line? I want to apply a protection spell on all of you to avoid things like this in the future," Haruto asked.
They had no reason to refuse, all of them stood in a straight line. Haruto went to each person and put his finger on their forehead while his finger emitted a bright glow.
He did this to all of us until he reached the last person in line which was Ryan. He tried to put his finger on Ryan's forehead but he stepped back.
"Don't do this with me, I won't tell anyone…I just don't want to forget you," said Ryan.
Haruto was not applying a protection spell on them; instead, he was removing their memories in which they had interacted with the person named Haruto since he was now planning to leave this village.
"Can you promise me that?" asked Haruto.
"You can trust me," said Ryan.
"That didn't answer my question. I asked can you promise me that you won't tell anyone about me," Haruto asked again.
"I promise," Ryan replied.
Haruto then walked to Scar who was standing quietly in a corner, he patted Scar's shoulder bringing him back to his senses.
"Shall we go now?" Haruto asked while he tightly clenched Scar's shoulder.
"Yes, of course," said Scar and started walking toward the forest.
"Is this what Aki was referring to? No, it can't be, gods won't send some bandits to trouble me," Haruto said to himself before he started walking before Scar.
"Ahhh!"
Suddenly Haruto felt nauseous and the world before his eyes changed in an instant; where there was a village a few seconds ago, now there was nothing but empty space.
It was so dark that not a single ray of light was there, Haruto was floating in empty space. But it was not just empty space; it was 'The Void', the deepest dimension in the sea of multiple dimensions.
It was not long before Haruto noticed that his body was slowly disintegrating, he was being eaten by the void.
'What the fuck!' was what he wanted to say, but he wasn't able to say a thing. The reason was that as soon as the sound waves left his mouth, they were also absorbed by the void; therefore he wasn't able to speak.
He…was scared.
