Time To Set Things In Motion

I was done eating my breakfast and Mia was now collecting the plates. I didn't particularly have anything to do right now so I was doing, just nothing.

Well, doing nothing won't be the right thing to describe me right now. Basically, I was thinking about my future plans, since I saw that gunshot-like wound on the elf soldiers my mind was filled with different types of possibilities.

I know I can't say for sure that it was a gunshot wound but I can't rule out the possibility either. The warning Aki gave me—that the gods will try to interfere in my life, the boss of these bandits—who Zen mentioned uses weird weapons, Hanako getting killed—probably by a hero, and now this.

I can't help but think that these four pieces are part of the same puzzle. And if the gods are involved in this, then it can be more of a trouble than I think it will be.

This won't have posed a major problem for me if I was able to use 100% of my power—I could have clapped the gods easily and I'm sure of it. But since I can only use 2% I'm not sure how much damage will I be able to give.

Ah, why did I choose these powers for my wish when I can't even use them fully!

Phew!

Calm down, it's no use crying over what's already done. And it's not like I'm weak or something if I can't use my powers to their full extent. They may be gods but I'm still me, and that's more than enough!

For now, I need to solve this puzzle and figure out what they're planning to do before they made any moves. The closest thing to me right now is the boss of these bandits, their main base is somewhere in this forest so it'll be easy to find them.

"Mia, you said that you'll tell me 'bout their main base if I help you out with those children right?" I asked; I don't know the exact location of their base so it's better to confirm it I suppose.

"About that, we have to go out for something similar," said Mia.

"Wait a minute, what do you mean by 'we'? I thought my part was to only accompany you to this village," I reasoned.

"You might find the boss guy where we're going," she replied, trying to make me agree with her.

"And where exactly are we going?"

"A place where they have kept many kidnapped elves," she said.

"Sigh. It's not like I have any other choice, okay I'll go," I said to her.

"Sorry if you didn't want to go, but this is important."

No, Mia, you're wrong. This is exactly what I wanted. I wanted to inspect these bandits before I make any direct move; the problem was how do I get myself involved with the elves but well…Looks like I have good luck today.

After that Mia went to her room, we were leaving today so she was picking up her equipment. I had my things in the pocket dimension so I waited for her at the entrance.

She was taking a bit of time so I was again lost in thought.

When the demon-human war thing was over I just wanted to live my life freely and peacefully without getting involved in any other trouble, but…

How strange things can be sometimes. I have to trade my freedom to get freedom.

But now was not the time for regretting things, I'll have to set things in motion now or it'll be too late.

A NIGHT AGO

{DEMON KINGDOM}

A girl was sitting on a throne-like chair in a room while she held a glass of red wine in her hand. She was the ruler of the demon kingdom; demon lord Hanako.

Looking outside at the beautiful night sky through a large window, she took a sip of wine.

Her crimson eyes were reflecting the moonlight like a quiet lake. She was thinking over the things she did in these past 300 years, all the plans and strategies she made to avenge her father.

Even after failing countless times she never gave up. She wanted to make that man—the hero, pay back for killing her father. This time things went smoothly, she thought that this time she'll achieve her aim, that this time she'll avenge her father, once and for all.

Then the unexpected happened, a boy with whom she didn't have good relations came and destroyed everything. But this wasn't the thing that affected her, I have tried many times, and one more restart won't be a thing to worry about.

Or so she thought.

But then that individual—Haruto, showed her something. That his father wasn't tricked and then killed by the hero, rather they both died that day. That the hero she's trying to find for the past 300 years doesn't even exist anymore.

He also told her that there really is no hero in the Ronze kingdom and that he had confirmed it by himself. She had spent some time with him before, and she knew he wasn't telling a lie.

He didn't have to lie to her if he wanted her to stop. His powers were on a whole different level and he could have killed Hanako right then and there if he wanted that.

But he didn't, and that only meant one thing. Her source, from where she got the information that the hero is hiding in the Ronze kingdom was wrong.

Hanako was desperate to avenge her father but she wasn't a fool. She always suspected the person who gave her this information, and it was true after all.

The person, who gave her that information, was the same person who just appeared in front of her.

Through teleportation magic a boy materialized in front of Hanako, blocking the moonlight and casting a shadow on her. He was hiding in a pitch black cloak and standing in the opposite direction of light his face was not visible even a bit.

Anyone would be surprised if someone appeared suddenly like this but Hanako was calm. She knew he'll come and that time was now.

"Looks like you failed mise—"

"You used me didn't you?" asked Hanako, stopping the boy to speak.

He didn't say anything for a while but then he spoke, "My, My, looks like I've been caught," he didn't deny the fact that he used Hanako.

"You bastard! How dare you deceive me for all these years," said Hanako, shouting.

She crushed the glass of wine and stood up quickly to charge at him.

—KLUCH!

She stopped all of a sudden when a sword stabbed her from behind; another person who was hiding his presence till now stabbed her from behind.

"Sorry but now I'm done playing with you. But I should thank you first; I got my hands on a new pawn thanks to you," said the boy in front of her.

"Hmph, you may act all smart but in reality, you're an idiot, aren't you? You know that I can't be killed but then also—" Hanako tried to say something but wasn't able to finish.

Blood dripped out of her mouth as she felt pain where she was stabbed. Her wound should have been healed by now but it wasn't.

"I know you can't be killed since you're a demon lord, I know that. But that wasn't what the full condition is right?" the boy said as he closed the distance between him and Hanako.

Hanako tried to understand what he was saying and when she did understand her eyes were wide open due to the shock.

A smile appeared on the boy's face when he saw her reaction as he spoke again, "A demon lord can't be killed, this isn't what the condition says but a demon lord can only be killed by a hero, is what it says."

Hanako's face turned pale when she heard him, from what he said just now it can only mean one thing. The person who stabbed Hanako from behind was a hero.

Soon she felt like losing control of her body as her vision got blurry. She tried to use her magic but it didn't work, it would've been fine if she resisted the moment she got stabbed but now it was too late.

The person behind Hanako pulled out his sword forcefully from her body and she fell to the floor.

"You really do like to play dirty huh," said the man with the sword.

"It doesn't matter, as long as I won't get bored all's fine," said the boy as he gazed upon Hanako who was trying to somehow get on her feet.

"At least die easily now, you can't do anything anymore. Its checkmate," the boy said and turned around toward the window.

The man with the sword joined him as they both looked at the night sky.

The boy, who was hiding himself in the black cloak, was the one who was known to control things from the shadows. That was the reason he was known by the name Kuro(Black), the person who had control over the whole eastern region of the world.

They both disappeared through teleportation magic when they confirmed that Hanako was dead.

Hanako chuckled slightly when they left; she still had a bit of life left in her.

"If you're going after him then I guess I was right after all. You really are an idiot," Hanako whispered as she took her last breath.
