Party

The gorilla left me as soon as we stepped through the portal, with the words,

"Now, make sure you have fun, lad!"

We had arrived at our destination, appearing to be the last ones as the big room was filled with other students.

After entering the portal, we were transported into a hotel of some sort, and the celebration was to be held in the spacious dining room.

Chandeliers were spread out hanging from the ceiling, candles neatly mounted on the walls and tuxedo-wearing waiters walked around with trays of drinks in their hands.

I had never experienced something this high-class. An orphan like me wasn't supposed to be at such an outstanding venue, yet here I was.

Looking around the room, I saw a lot of new faces, students from the B-class.

Unlike our class, they had a lot more individuals. In contrast to us being nine students, they were twenty-one.

Girls wearing gorgeous dresses, accentuating their curves, and guys in expensive suits, all of them, in my eyes, tall and handsome.

It wouldn't be a lie to say that the quality of appearances in this room would be higher than in any gathering in Hollywood.

Having nothing else to do, I walked to one of the waiters and reached up to get a glass of wine.

Noticing my advances, he looked down at me and raised the tray out of my reach,

"Hey, kid! This is for the adults! Are you a son of one of the teachers or something?"

I couldn't even be bothered to get angry, instead, I calmly tried to explain,

"I'm a student at Kirkegaard, which means I'm of legal age. Would you be so kind as to let me get a glass now?"

His eyes got a bit more relaxed, but he still didn't let up, "Oh, is that so? Sorry kid, I don't want to get in trouble by falling for your stupid lies."

I was not in the mood for this shit. After having spent two days, mentally tortured by the incident, my patience wasn't the greatest,

*Crzzzt*

Conjuring some lightning in my hand, I spoke coldly,

"Hey... I'm not gonna ask nicely again... Please give me a glass of wine and I'll be on my way..."

If I had been more normal and stable emotionally, I would have never reacted like this, but alas.

A young man, which I didn't know the name of, came up to us,

"Oi! What are you doing kid?! I don't know who you think you are, but to threaten a waiter isn't cool!"

The young man walked with an air of arrogance, spouting some very fair words but with a very heated tone.

I quickly extinguished my thundering energy and calmed myself down a bit.

'I guess he is right... It's just frustrating...'

Acting like the mature adult I actually was, I apologized, "I'm sorry. But I really am a student here, so please stop talking as if I were a kid."

Instead of the waiter answering, the heated youth intervened, "A student? Ah! You are the pipsqueak in the A-class? Hahaha, you sure are small aren't you? Are you sure you aren't in the wrong class? I think even the weakest of us in the B-class could take you down!"

Turning my head to the rude mouth, I felt my anger rise once more.

'What is this brat doing?'

As I tried to figure out why he was acting like a complete buffoon, my eyes spotted a couple of girls who looked at him with glittering eyes.

Looking back at the man, I could see him taking a glance at them every now and then.

'Is he truly trying to impress the girls by doing this? Why would they like to see this? Doesn't this just look like an adult bullying a child?'

Although it made no sense in my head, I still couldn't control my anger. As previously stated, I wasn't as mentally stable as I would normally be.

"Hey, you..."

"What? You have something to say, runt?"

"Could you please shut the fuck up and go back to the trashy girls you want to impress? I don't know if you are compensating for a small dick or something, but this is incredibly embarrassing."

I turned to the waiter, while the other student was dumbfounded "Sorry again. But as you see, I'm genuinely a student, so please give me a glass."

The waiter handed me a glass of wine, and just as I was about to walk away and get on with my night, a hand gripped my shoulder, forcing me in place.

"You little fuck! Do you think you can just walk away after that?!"

"Haaa... I guess not..."

I had really wished that he would just let me be, but it seemed to be an impossibility.

"So what now then? Are you going to beat me up right here, in front of all the other students?"

At this point, we had caused such a commotion that every other student was watching us.

This included James, Sarah, and Brad, who were looking at me with complicated expressions.

'Guess they truly don't want to get involved with me anymore...'

As they didn't come to aid me in my struggle, I could only assume this to be the case.

That meant I had to solve this by myself, which I thought my words would do, but it seems like the young man knew something I did not.

"Hahaha! Why, yes, I will! You do realize that you are an A-class student, right? Do you really think it could be called bullying if I fought you, after having to listen to your slandering? Look, even the teachers are just spectating!"

Once again, he was right. Looking closer, there seemed to be several teachers around as well, with them also just watching.

'Hey! Is this honestly okay?! Does that mean I have to fight him?!'

No one would save me. I was alone, having no comrades who would watch my back.

As these dark thoughts came up, I prepared myself for the inevitable fight that would occur.

*Crrzzt!

Purple lightning enveloped my hand, electric tendrils starting to move like snakes around my right arm.

My mind cleared, and my emotions started to fade. It was a world for the strong, but strength only mattered if you were alive, just like in any world.

"[Overclock]..."

I started to absorb the mana in the air, feeling my body assimilate the extra power.

The thundering energy around my hand also started to get more intense, stronger, and rawer.

"So you do want to fight, kid?! Let's go then!"

He didn't back down in front of me accumulating power, instead, he took it as the cue of combat.

'Kill...'

My head had already become focused on my intent, and with my body now screaming in pain from overclocking to an M.G of at least a rank higher than my original, I prepared myself to pierce his stomach.

"Stop!"

Someone came up to us, and we both got thrown off because of the surprise.

It was Bayyan, handsomely suited up, with his gray hair combed back neatly.

"Troy, stop it."

Troy turned his head toward Bayyan, " Hmm? Why are you defending this runt? Is it because you are in the same class?"

Shaking his head a little, Bayyan explained himself, "No, It's because you would have died if you continued. Did you know? Arthur is in the emergency care right now, almost having his head blown off after a duel with the student you keep on calling runt? Isn't Arthur a lot stronger than you? What do you think will happen if he goes up against you then?"

Troy's face paled a bit, and he looked at the little kid he was holding, still holding a bit of skepticism on his face.

"It's true. Though it wasn't exactly on purpose..."

'Though I guess I did attack intending to kill...'

He released me from his grasp, and bowed his head, "I'm sorry! Please don't kill me!"

'What happened with the guy who was going to beat me up a second ago?! Was the difference between him and Arthur that big?'

"It's fine... Just go away now..."

He walked back to the girls, shame filling his steps.

It was a weird situation. Firstly, it was now known to the entirety of the B-class as well, that I almost killed my classmate. Secondly, the one who actually resolved the situation wasn't James or a teacher, but Bayyan, who hated my guts.

"Bayyan, why did you intervene?"

I had to know the reason, maybe he didn't hate me as much after getting confirmation of my abilities?

With a stone-cold face, he responded with a neutral tone, as the audience was still spectating,

"Why? Because I didn't want a monster like you to kill my friend."

"Wait, what?! I'm a monster? What do you mean!"

It was infuriating, being called a monster by a man who was clearly stronger than me and much more used to slaughter.

Looking around me, I could see my former friends all staring at the ground, almost as if they confirmed his words in their heads.

'Really? That's how they see me now?'

Bayyan sneered and ended the conversation with one last line,

"What are you if not a monster? Who could try to slice their own classmate's throat without hesitation if they were not? Anyway, I'm done here. Make sure you don't accidentally kill someone tonight Miren."
