"Miren!"
My girl jumped into my arms, or at least tried to, but because her feet still easily reached the floor it wasn't quite as romantic as one would imagine.
With my head between her lovelies, she held me tightly.
"Now, isn't that cute..."
Sophie was standing beside us, wearing a grim expression.
Not minding the giant at our side, we continued our reunion.
"How have you been? Have you been eating well?"
'What are you, my mom?'
"I'm fine Misa, it hasn't been bad at all. How is it on your side? I guess the department is in quite the uproar right now."
The department of justice was the core of national safety, responsible for defending the citizen against villains and monsters alike. That also meant that they would be part of the political engagement before making a decision regarding mana-less.
She finally released me from her arms with a sigh,
"Yea, it's kind of crazy. Most of the older officers are completely against the decision to change the laws regarding mana-less, but a lot of the younger generation supports it. So there is quite the amount of internal conflicts right now."
It could be compared to my previous world where a lot of the older generation would have biased opinions because of prior experiences.
Someone who had been a part of WW2 would be more inclined to dislike Germans than someone who had not.
"I see. But why are you cooperating with Sophie?"
It was still a mystery for me, the reason Misa was a part of the group.
Her finger landed on her cheek as she tried to find the right words to explain,
"So... I have always felt it was weird that mana-less don't get the same rights as us. We aren't even of different ethnicities, some are just born unable to manipulate mana. They also have their own strengths. Their inherently strong bodies that are automatically reinforced by their mana is one of them."
She continued to speak as we sat down at Sophie's living room table, me and Misa on the couch and Sophie in her giant armchair,
"A couple of years ago, before I got the job at the department, I met Sophie."
She pointed a bit with her hand and Sophie nodded in confirmation.
"She came to me, knowing my father was an important figure and talked about the situation. One thing led to another and then I joined "Basilisk"."
"What's that?"
Both Sophie and Misa flinched for a second, but Sophie quickly recovered and explained,
"It's the name of our organization. We have been fighting for money for years now, which was all to gain this chance. We all want to be adventurers but because of legislation, it has been impossible."
I didn't have much of an opinion on the matter other than that it was ridiculous. If people wanted to go out and risk their lives, just let them.
My previous aspirations about becoming an adventurer had already changed quite drastically. There was no yearning in fighting to the death with monsters anymore, instead, I felt a lot more attracted to just seeing the world. Unfortunately, this would most likely not be possible without fighting, thus I had already accepted that I would have to kill again.
"So, what is your role in this then?"
Misa suddenly seemed quite embarrassed, her ears lighting up a bit.
"I have been supplying them with information regarding sensitive events, like... your celebration..."
So it turned out that my own girlfriend was the reason for my abduction, having given Sophie the location.
"So that's how it is..."
"I'm sorry! I didn't think you would be the one taken as you aren't from a prominent family! I'm so sorry!"
She took me in her arms once more, completely exasperated as she had been part of the cause of my current situation.
I pushed her away a bit and luckily she let me go as she felt my intent, otherwise, I would still be stuck as she was a lot stronger than me,
"Misa, I'm fine. They are treating me well here, it's even been nice with a bit of a break from the academy. So stop apologizing."
I turned my eyes toward Sophie and continued to talk,
"I'm fine with this situation, but that doesn't mean I don't have plans to get out of here even if the negotiations fail. I hope you both realize this."
There was no doubt in my mind that I would have to find a way out if their goal wasn't fulfilled.
Sophie answered with a gentle smile,
"I understand that. Fortunately, I don't think we will have to imprison you by force as talks have already begun and it looks to be going well."
"That's good at least, then I have no issues with it."
Both of the women around me looked skeptical. How weird must it be for a hostage to be content with his own abduction?
"But Miren, don't you worry about your grades at the academy?"
Misa had a point. It would be hard to make up for the lost time later on, with me even missing the theoretical tests that were happening this week.
Still, I thought it would be fine. The academy felt less important than ever right now.
"I can still train here, and I will be continuing to do so no matter what. There is also the fact that the principal wants me to stay at the academy."
Misa caught me for the third time,
"You are such a hard worker Miren! That's why I love you!"
She had no problems uttering the words that made her face explode last time. And at this time, neither did I.
"I love you too, Misa."
I also wrapped my arms around her, and so we sat on the large couch finding comfort in each other's presence.
"Please stop... I'm still here, you know?"
The amazon beside us made us stop, feeling awkward being the third person in the room.
"I would love to just leave you guys alone, but my comrades would probably find it suspicious if I just let the hostage go without supervision."
"Is that so? Well, I guess Misa has to return soon anyway..."
"Actually, I'm going to stay here until the negotiations are done. During the negotiations, it was decided to send a representative to make sure the hostage was safe, and I managed to convince my father to choose me. So until everything is finished I will be with you!"
"Does that mean I don't have to sleep with Sophie anymore? Now that my own girlfriend is a part of all of this?"
The room got silent.
Misa turned her head to Sophie, wearing the biggest smile I had ever seen.
"Sophie... what does he mean?"
A shiver went down my spine and looking at Sophie, she felt the same.
Gulping, she tried to clear the misunderstanding.
"It's not like that Misa! I just had to make sure that the hostage didn't run away, so I made sure to keep an eye on him at all times."
A vein started to protrude from Misa's forehead.
"So in a group like Basilisk, the is not a single guy who could take the night shift?"
Sophie knew she had lost this fight, there was no coming back now. So she started to talk in resignation,
"I'm sorry Misa... The original plan was to let one of the men be the surveillor but when I saw Miren I didn't feel the need to. Who would believe that a little kid like him would even have thoughts about the other gender."
"Who is a little kid?!"
"Yea, he is not a little kid! At least not in bed..."
...
Looking to my side, Misa had self-destructed, covering her blazing red face with her hands.
'If you feel that embarrassed, why even say it?'
Looking toward Sophie, I was surprised to see that she had a similar reaction.
The huge woman's face was burning up and it seemed like she mustered all her self-control to not run away.
'So she is a virgin...'
I couldn't let this chance slip, after all the teasing I had to endure from everyone, this was finally my chance to get back at someone.
"Sophie, what's the matter? Do you have a fever or something?"
She flinched a bit and looked at my grinning face.
"No I'm fine, it's just a bit hot in here..."
"Oh, are you sure? Because you seemed fine before but then all of a sudden your face got red?"
She started to squirm a bit, not wanting me to say anymore.
"It was just as Misa started to talk about... Oh!"
I landed my right fist into my left palm as if to say that I understood her concern.
"So you got embarrassed when she started to talk about sex?"
Her small squirms escalated into a full-on vibration, shaking when trying to contain her emotions.
"Is it that you don't have any experience at all?"
She couldn't take it anymore. Sophie just stood up and quickly ran out of the room, almost looking as if she had small tears in the corner of her eyes.
Quite the funny sight, the giant amazon acting like a shy teenager.
"Miren, that was too much..."
Misa looked at me, disappointed by my immature behavior.
