Time seemed to almost come to a complete stop as I saw the pickaxes move to end the life of my only friend. Behind her, Akane looked like she was screaming, but I couldn't hear her. To me, sound didn't exist at this moment.
I was already aware of what I would have to do, but as I didn't know what consequences my actions would have, I couldn't help but feel like this might be a mistake. Cold sweat started running down my back as I hesitated for a bit.
My body was already on the verge of giving up. The [Discharge] I had unleashed with my wings had taken a bigger toll on my body than I expected. Although I wasn't sure, it probably had something to do with me being able to charge them with more power due to their size.
I let go of the last bit of my emotions, knowing they would just get in the way right now. What I was about to do was something I had never tried before as I didn't have the tools to do so.
*Crzzt!, Crzzt!, Crzzt!*
I took three consecutive steps, each one letting me get close enough to an enemy that my forward stretched wings instantly impaled the bodies of one kobold after the next.
*Don!*
They all fell to the ground at the same time as I let go of my [Overclocking] and fell to my knees, still holding on to my consciousness as I didn't want to black out in the dungeon.
I had never tried using my step to blink into something, as the rebound would most likely make my arm explode if I tried to stab the target. However, now that I had these wings, it was possible all of a sudden, as they didn't have material forms.
"Miren?!"
Lindsey got up on her feet and staggered to my side while simultaneously taking out a potion from her DAD, wanting to give it to me as fast as possible.
When she got to my side, I had to stop her from making a stupid decision as I was sure that she was going to stop to make sure I was fine.
"There is no time. We have to get going before the next patrol arrives."
Lindsey flinched, surprised that she had somehow forgotten about the precarious situation we were in.
"You're right, let's go!"
With a shout, she prepared us for a swift retreat out of the dungeon. Akane nodded her head as she also turned to start walking.
"Umm... Guys..."
They both turned their heads at my words, confused as to why I hadn't started to move yet.
"Didn't I already tell you that you needed to carry me..."
....
It was a bit awkward for all of us, although mostly for me and Akane. She had to watch the tiny demon king that she had been so incredibly afraid of getting picked up by Lindsey, held in a princess carry, and I had to get carried in a princess carry.
While I was trying not to think about the fact that I was currently in the arms of a girl half my mental age, we made our way back to the portal.
Luckily, it didn't even take half the time we had spent venturing into the dungeon, as we didn't have to worry about any kobolds. We had already cleared them out, after all.
In about half an hour of running, we saw the blue revolving door back to the academy and we entered it together once again.
Me and Lindsey both fell to the stone floor as Lindsey didn't have to force herself to stand up anymore.
"Lindsey!"
A worried uncle quickly ran to our side and checked our conditions. Or rather, Mike made sure that Lindsey was okay while I was lying on the cold marble unable to move.
"Are you hurt?! Should I get a rize user? Do you need me to carry you?"
A million questions exited the mouth of our teacher who had completely forgotten about the social expectations that were in place due to them being students and teachers.
"I'm fine. I just need a second to rest. You should probably check Miren instead, I don't think he can move at all.
Lindsey just dismissed her worried uncle, and instead wanted him to focus on me, as my state was most likely a lot more serious than hers.
However...
"No, he is probably fine. He always pass out here and there, he is used to it!"
'You fucker!'
Even though he seemed to care about me quite a lot normally, when his niece was in the picture, I was not a priority.
While they were having their little conversation, another group also exited their portal.
James, Suzuka, and Sarah all came out looking tired and weary, but with only minor scratches. All in all, they looked a lot better than me and Lindsey did.
Maybe it was because of this that they walked over to Lindsey as soon as they saw her sitting on the floor, most likely worried about their classmate. Except for Suzuka who instead asked over to her sister.
"Lindsey are you alright?"
Sarah was the one to open her mouth first, as she got down on one knee to get to Lindsey's eye level. Although I couldn't help but feel a tinge of jealousy seeing how differently we were treated, I was mostly happy that my friend would get the medical attention she needed.
What I wasn't happy about was what happened next, or rather the utter crap that Sarah started spouting.
"I can't believe Miren just left you like this! What kind of friend would do that? That's not just rude, that's downright disrespectful! Are you sure you want to.."
"Sarah..."
Before she could continue her sermon, pointing out how much of a shifty friend I was, James put his hand on her shoulder and made her shut her mouth.
"He is lying right there, you know?"
It appeared that Sarah hadn't even seen me lying on the floor, still unable to move. The most likely explanation was my size, I just didn't occupy that much space in their vision when they had exited the dungeon.
However, it still pissed me off immensely, no matter how logical it might have been, to get completely overlooked and ignored.
Sarah quickly stood up again and looked at me as her face was drained of color, "Oh... Hi, Miren I... Didn't see you there..."
'Bet you didn't, you moron of a succubus!'
There was no energy to vocalize my thoughts so I had to resort to internally criticize the stupid woman and try to use my facial expressions to show her just how angry I was.
I could almost see her start to sweat as my eyes sharpened and a frown appeared on my face, possibly worrying about the repercussions of her actions.
Sadly, our stupid gorilla of a teacher once again opened his mouth, "Oh yeah, he didn't leave her at all. But don't worry about him, he is absolutely fine, probably. Now that all of the groups have finished their dives, you are free to leave. We will be doing the same thing next Sunday, so be sure to learn from this experience."
Everyone seemed to take his words at face value, as they started to leave the building, with Mike supporting Lindsey. She did turn her head for a second and looked at me, but for some reason she decided to trust the words of our teacher, letting him lead her out as well.
In the end, I was left behind, still lying on the cold, hard floor, almost crying because of the betrayal of my teacher, having convinced my classmates that I was somehow fine.
'I will not forget this, Mike! I swear I will make you par for your impertinent actions!'
I tries to gather some strength into my lower body to gauge my current state, but it was no use.
'At least it doesn't seem like my life is in danger, but fuck! It hurts so bad!'
As I was thinking through how I would get revenge on the gorilla, one of my classmates returned. A bouncy, voluptuous body paired with golden hair started making its way back to me.
"Hi Miren... You know that I didn't really mean what I said right? It was just a joke! Hahaha....haha..."
It was Sarah who had come back with her tail tucked between her legs, making some weak excuses to appease me.
Although I was still pissed off at her, this was my chance to not have to spend my Sunday night on this stone floor. Once again, I swallowed my pride and did what had to be done,
"Carry me to the infirmary and I will forgive you."
Her face got a look of confusion as she had also trusted the words of our teacher, meaning that she legitimately believed me to be fine.
"You can't walk? Then why did Mr. Borr say you were fine?"
I held my tongue, not wanting to talk badly of him in front of one of his students. Seeing that I chose to not speak, Sarah just lifted me in her arms, not wanting to embarrass me more than necessary.
Once again I felt her big assets rest on my stomach, reminding me of when she had caught me falling from the air when we had been diving last semester. However, the humiliation of getting carried in the arms of a girl for the second time in one day made me completely immune to the soft sensation that would otherwise threaten to drive any man crazy.
