They found him with Houston, sparring in the field. The way he fought reminded her of his fast movements when they had fought.
"Well... I am definitely not going knight-in -shining-armour on him, I'll be dead in a minute." Lily whispered when they stopped in their tracks.
Kara narrowed her eyes in determination and walked up to them.
"Hi Adrian, Can I talk to you?" She asked when she got to him.
His hazel eyes took her breath away when he turned to her. He had long eyelashes and a full mouth. His black hair was falling in his face but it wasn't so long.
"Well well well, the new girl decided to come say hi." Houston smirked and turned to stare at her.
Adrian's eyes darkened and he frowned.
"Kara, right?" He asked.
Kara gritted her teeth. Was he really going to pretend as if he didnt know her?!
"Yes I am Kara, can I talk to you? Its urgent." She clenched her fists and tilted her head to the side.
He nodded and walked away. Kara followed him some steps away. He stopped and turned to her silently. His full attention was on her that she froze. How was she supposed to start? What if he wasn't the one? Making up her mind, she spoke.
"Why didn't you kill me?"
He looked shocked, then he did the unexpected. He began to laugh. Kara's cheeks burnt with embarrassment. When he leaned forward abruptly, she leaned back. He was probably 6'0 or something.
~People are listening. We don't want them to know about our little white haired alpha now do we. ~
"Is this how you greet someone you talk to for the first time? Is it a human thing?" He asked out loud.
Anyone looking at them would have thought he was speaking with genuine curiosity. Looking into his eyes, Kara could see the amusement there. He was right, anyone could be listening?
"Sorry, it's something out of a movie I watched once in the uh, human realm and all." She smiled sweetly.
He turned his head and his eyes twinkled. "A sort of pickup line?"
Kara looked away and cleared her throat. "Uh yeah sure. A sort of pick up uhm line."
"Are you guys setting a date or what?!" Houston shouted and the people close by snickered.
Kara turned to glare at him. She so wish she could freeze his tongue or his lips.
~Calm down wolf girl, control your emotions. ~
She gasped and looked to Adrian who was looking at Houston. She looked at the other guy and saw him rubbing his lips with his hands.
"I'd say you did this to me New girl but you are just a wolf." He glared at her.
"What are you talking about?" She asked with a fake puzzled expression.
He rolled his eyes and walked towards the school building.
~Meet me at the library by 2100 tonight. Tell no one. And I mean no one.~
And Adrian walked away.
The day blew like a breeze with her lying to Lily and avoiding Dimitri and her brother. When the clock was 8:30pm, she sneaked out of her room and made her way to the library. More times than once, she almost got caught by Reginald. The library door was slightly open so she crept in. The room was dark.
~Very punctual I see. Walk straight... turn left... then turn right... walk through the door.~
The door looked like the wall, she would have missed it on a normal day. Not allowing herself to dwell on the fact that he could be leading her to a trap, she went through the door. It lead down to a sort of basement, there she found him. He wore sweats and had his hands in his pocket.
"I'm here." She announced quietly and folded her hands. She was close to the door and her only way of escape.
~I won't harm you.~
Kara growled and glared at him. "Get out of my head."
He chuckled. ~Why would I want to do that?~
Adrian gestured to a seat and sat on the floor by the desk.
"Invasion of privacy, ever heard of that?" She sat but her body was still tense.
~Mind weavers don't have that in their dictionary.~
"How wonderful." She rolled her eyes and looked around the room.
The room was spacious. Weapons were on a hook on the wall at the extreme end of the room. Three dummies stood at separate points of the room.
"Why am I here?" She skeptically glanced away from the dummies and looked at him.
His hazel eyes had been on her the entire time with a little smile on his lips. Something about him made her body feel hot.
"To give you required information and train." He said simply.
Raising an eyebrow, Kara rolled her eyes. "I've been trained already thank you."
He stood up and walked towards her. Involuntarily, she leaned back into the chair.
"Then you wouldn't mind sparring with me." He raised an eyebrow with a smirk playing on his lips.
She remembered how he fought and wanted to say no but her pride got the best of her.
"Whatever. If I'll get answers after." She stood up and moved away from him.
Throwing her jacket on the chair, she positioned herself to fight. He didn't hesitate before attacking her. He made sure not to bruise her but also to get his point across. She ended up having her hands pulled to the back and his hand on her neck. Her chest was to his chest. Breathing heavily, she glared at him.
"Point made. Let go." She said and struggled to get free.
He leaned and sniffed her hair. "I think I'll stay in this position a little longer."
Kara froze and held her breath. Where their skins touched, her skin tingled.
~I've discovered that I like holding you.~
For some reason she liked it also and that annoyed her. Taking advantage of his distraction, she hit his head with hers and jumped back. Her breaths came in a laboured stride.
"What are you doing to me?" She growled and moved further away from him.
He chuckled and stared at her intensely.
~You feel the same way I do. Good.~
"I don't feel any way you do. This was a mistake. Get out of my head and let's never cross part again." She spat at him and turned towards the door.
Her body froze. She couldn't move.
~If a simple hold on your mind works on you, do you think you have a chance against those who want you dead? Against the sisters?~
"There is a block on my mind! Why are you able to do this?" Kara asked, still struggling to get free.
He came to stand in front of her and tilted her chin up.
"Your mind is blocked against every normal mind weaver but against The Faction, it is nothing." He said softly and released her.
Because she felt uncomfortable staring into his eyes, she moved away and went to sit down.
"Who are The Factions?"
He sat on the floor facing her.
"A group of people who believe in restoring the balance and would use any means possible to achieve that. They came into being many many years ago when a Sister had child..." He began.
"You mean me?"
He shook his head. "Not you. That was centuries before you were born. It's a story that was kept hidden from the rest of the world..."
"So how do you know?" She interrupted again.
He stood up. "We'll continue the tomorrow."
Adrian walked out the door.
"Wait what? No no no. You can't do that!" Kara jumped up and went after him.
He walked in long strides, that she finally caught up with him at the library entrance. Quickly, he pulled her to the wall and bent as if he was kissing her. She struggled to get free but he held her in place.
"Oh wow." Someone said and others giggled as they hurried away.
He allowed her to push him away and winked.
~See you around wolf girl.~
And he was gone. With no explanation whatsoever and her reputation a gossip for the morning!
