Folawe woke up to a credit alert the following morning. President Mo had sent the money like he had promised and even sent more than needed. Thinking that there must have been a mistake somehwere, she picked her phone to call him.
"Good morning President Mo."
Mo Ambrose was still sulking about being called an elder and didnt sound that good. "Good afternoon Folawe."
"Afternoon?" She checked the time on her phone and realised it was few minutes past 12. "Ahh...President Mo, actually I dont wake up around this time."
Mo Ambrose did not know if he should laugh or keep a stoic expression. Not that she could see his expression anyway. "Noted. I believe in whatever you say."
Although he was saying he believed her, Folawe had a feeling he was being sarcastic. How she had oversept was a mystery. Maybe she was finally able to get a peaceful sleep knowing that she had solved her problem.
"Ahhh...when will your assistant be here? "
Mo Ambrose checked his wrist. "In an hour. I have sent you the address of where you are to meet."
Getting out of bed, she streched and yawned and caught a view of herself in the mirror. She didnt look good at all. Didnt look worthy of being the great President Mos girlfriend. If his parents were to see her perhaps they would even ask him to break up with her before Mo Ambrose gets to implement his deal. Also, she didnt think such a rich family would approve of their wealthy son being with a poor lady. To them she would just look like the gold digger.
"Ok President Mo. Thank you." She hung up before he could say another word and quickly rushed to take her bath. She was picking out what to wear when her friend Joy knocked on the door. Folawe knowing she wont go away if she doesnt respond had no choice but to let her in. From the way she looked, it was obvious Joy had just woken and was yet to take her bath.
Feeling mischievous, she starta to praise her friend as she made the bed. "Folawe folawe, the new rich Madam."
Folawe gave her friend an incredulous look while putting on her dress. "Where is the rich Madam?"
"You of course. You even know President Mo and didnt say a word to me. I thought we were close friends." Joy accused.
"I already told you, we just happened to meet. I helped him with his car tyre and that is all."
"Is it?" She questioned giving her a funny look while laying on the bed. "Then what is that about ruining his lenses and why did he offer you his seat? Why were his eyes always landing on you when he was giving his speech? You cant hide it from me."
"You should ask President as to why his eyes cant focus on something else and about the lenses you know how clumsy I am." She walked to the mirror she hung on the wall and used a little baby powder, perfume, eyeliner and lipgloss.
"This one you are dolling up, dont tell me you want to go and meet Mo Ambrose the love of your life." She teased. "Ahhh. By the way, Paul said he will be giving you his blessings even though he laid eyes on you1 first. He said you should feel guilty about abandoning him."
Folawe simply rolls her eyes. To say Paul is dramatic would be an understatement. He was just a friend but the way he talks would make people think they had a thing going on. Well that wa only for people who didnt know Paul that well. He would act like that towards almost all his female friends except the ones he considered sisters. "That idiot." Was all she said to prevent Joy from leading the conversion back to President Mo.
She managed to leave the house without Joy's pestering thanks to her attention being grabbed by one of their hostel mates. The girls love for gossip.. it was insatiable. By the time she got to the venue, Assistant Mason was already waiting with a young man who seemed to be the designer. He took her measurements and promised to deliver it the following afternoon.
Assistant Mason didnt look like the type of person who enjoyed talking as he didnt even try making small talks with her or perhaps she just didn't interest him. Either way...it was not until she was about to leave did he call her back.
"Miss Folawe, the President asked me to give you this." He said, holding out a bag to her.
Reluctantly, Folawe took the bag and he gave a slight bow of his head before leaving with the designer. She couldn't check what the bag contained until she got back to he hostel. And this raised a suspicion from Joy who was still moving around in her room.
"Eh...you go out dolled up and you come back with that." Joy moved towards her. Peeking at the bag that was on the bed she questioned. "What is in it? What? What? Tell me."
Removing her clothes till she was left with her underwear, she took the bag and opened it. Inside laid what seemed like a designer bag and a little card was attached to it.
Folawe was yet to open it when Joy shouted.
"Folawe...look look...isnt this the new Louis Vuitton...what the..." she gave her friend a knowing look while staring at the bag. She then adjusted her clothes and wore an innocent expression before mimicking Folawe. "I dont know president Mo. We just happened to meet. Girl you ain't lying to no one. Open the card let's read what it says." She seemed more excited than Folawe whom the gift was meant for.
Opening the card, she noticed it was handwritten. Judging by how neat the writing was, it was undoubtedly President Mos.
It read: To our romantic adventure, a token for little Miss Folawe.
Joy had her hand over her mouth to stop herself from shouting when she read the content. Pointing at her friend she asks. "You...you really have something to do with President Mo. Folawe you already hit it big." She shook her friend by the arm. "We have made it!"
"We? Dont be silly. We cant live on someone else's money."
An hour that seemed like an eternity later, Joy later left her room, leaving Folawe with her thoughts. As she picked her phone to call him, she saw his incoming call.
