Tanuj stood in stunned silence, the light from the summoning circle finally fading. He blinked a few times, expecting to see some grand, fearsome creature before him. But as the dust settled, his expectations crashed back down to reality.

"Uh… where's the beast? System, where is the beast?" he asked, his voice tinged with confusion.

Tanuj frowned and slowly lowered his gaze. What he saw made his heart sink. "Down…? Wha—what is this? A mouse?"

Before him, standing in the center of the now-fading magic circle, was a tiny creature with soft fur and bright, beady eyes. The system's interface quickly provided the details:

Tanuj stared at the creature, disbelief plastered on his face. "Hahaha, are you joking with me, System? All that light show and that huge magic circle… for a freaking rat?"

"It's the same thing! Do I look like a 10-year-old kid who travels with a yellow mouse for more than 25 years and still somehow stays 10 years old, huh?"

The mouse looked up at him, its tiny whiskers twitching as sparks of electricity crackled around it.

Tanuj sighed, noticing the sparks. "What are you looking at, you… you…" He paused as he recalled the system's warning. "Ah, why are there sparks around you?"

The sparks intensified slightly, and Tanuj quickly backtracked. "Wait, wait! I was just joking! You're the most handsome mouse, the greatest mouse there ever was!"

The mouse seemed to calm down, the sparks fading as it tilted its head, apparently enjoying the flattery.

Tanuj rubbed the back of his neck, realizing the situation. "Looks like he really likes compliments. I guess I'll have to make do with him for now. I can't wait a whole month to summon something else, and with my current mana, I probably can't summon anything much stronger anyway. I should focus on taming him and leveling up."

He glanced back at the system screen. "System, how can I tame him?"
