Eavesdropping

When she left the villa, her depression of the last few days was swept away.

Susie realized that as long as she completed her mission, she might have a chance to leave the Jackson family.

As she approached the Black Wood, Susie saw a man and a woman kissing in the shadow of the woods.

"Oh, Neil, I'm afraid it's not good to be like this . . . "

"What's the big deal? Our relationship is formal."

The woman's top was removed to her fair, thin shoulders. The man's hands were under the woman's black short skirt.

Susie flushed. The woman suddenly covered her breasts and got into the man's arms. "Someone is there!" She screamed as she pulled up the shoulders of her dress.

"Who's there?" Neil turned his head, his eyes following the woman's stare.

Thinking of the stagnant atmosphere at dinner tonight, Susie was even more embarrassed. She decided to pretend not to hear anything.

She huddled in the bushes, motionless.

At this time, a crow suddenly flapped out from the bushes behind Susie and landed on the ground next to Neil and Sara, cawing.

They recognized that it was Jack.

They breathed a sigh of relief. Neil teased, "It's just a crow. The daughter of the Roberts family is a coward."

Sara scrutinized suspiciously at the bushes where Susie was hiding, and relieved after making sure that there was no people there. Her face became gentle and calm as before. "Neil, what just happened between us was an accident."

"What? Miss Roberts, you're my fiancée. Are you still thinking about my big brother?" Neil smiled.

Sara lowered her head and didn't respond. Susie couldn't see the look on her face. Sara stood there for a while, then turned and left. Neil smiled and followed behind her.

When they were far away, Susie came out of the bushes, patting her chest, her cheeks still red and hot.

Jack flapped its wings and flew around her. "Stinking girl eavesdropped! Shame on you!" Jack laughed.

Susie's heart was still pounding. She ignored Jack's sneer and and quickly walked back to the castle.

She closed the gate, leaned against it, patted her hot face, and took an exhale.

"You met a ghost?" A deep voice asked. Susie looked up. Kain was standing in front of her, staring at her.

I met a demon and that was you! Susie thought.

But she didn't speak. Jack hovered above her head and gloated, "Stinking girl eavesdropped! You are in trouble!"

Susie glared at Jack. What a stinking talkative crow! She explained, "It wasn't eavesdropping. I just happened to pass by and run into Mr. Jackson and Miss Sara, who were . . . " the rest of the words were stuck in Susie's throat. Her face flushed red.

With a loud bang, all the items placed in the living room fell to the ground and shattered.

In a flash, Kain disappeared. A loud slamming sound came from a bedroom on the second floor.

The sound caused such a strong tremor that even Jack almost fell from the air.

Looking at the messy living room, Susie realized she had made a big mistake. Sara used to be Kain's fiancée. They were childhood sweethearts. What she just said in front of Kain was like a knife in his heart.
