Was Kain Dying?

Susie shook her head to stop woolgathering. She's got a mission to complete.

She looked up at Kain. He was standing in front of her, safe and sound, breathing steadily.

Could it be that the verbena she bought was fake? Or did verbena not work on vampires? Or was Kain not a vampire at all?

Susie's mind seemed to be in a knot. Various speculations appeared in her mind, giving her a headache.

"Susie?" Kain interrupted her thoughts when he saw her frowning tightly. Susie looked him in the eye and asked, "How are you feeling now? Is there any discomfort?"

Kain shook his head in confusion. Susie was disheartened. Verbena couldn't hurt him. What's she going to do to get Kain's blood in nine days.

Susie went back to her room in frustration, and lost sleep again that night.

Hundreds of ways to accomplish the mission played out in her head, but she vetoed them all. At midnight, there was a loud bang from Kain's room.
