The Horizon had taken some damage during the battle with the aliens and was docked at a repair station above a planet of lush jungle and air that was too poisonous for humans to breathe in. Nevertheless, there were still factories down on the planet and they were run by artificial intelligence.

The repairs on the ship were slated to take the entire day so Fable convinced Ji-ho to follow him down to the planet for a bit of adventure at the timber factory. Ilya had agreed to their request with one condition: no straying out beyond the pearl dome. This dome was pumped with clean and breathable air for the scientists that went and left regularly for both maintenance of the facility as well as for research purposes. As long as the duo remained inside the dome, there was no chance of harm falling upon them.
