Despite having access to basic fishing items like baits and lures, Ji-ho didn't buy anything from the engine. She kept up a routine of fishing and foraging for a few days till she had amassed enough with which to open a small temporary stall.
The village market was a boring place where few customers occasionally drifted in and bought little. The business here was so slow that a few stall owners had abandoned their shops to sit as a group while playing stones on a wooden board.
"Young lady, did you get the village headman's permission to sell your items here?"
"No, sir," Ji-ho replied.
"Then you can't do business here. Get permission and come back."
Ji-ho turned around and decided to come up with a new strategy.
Are we heading to the headman's house?
No. Getting permission from the village headman entails paying a tax to him, Jini. I know how the capitalists operate.
So are we evading tax?
