Wrong Impression

They had just stepped into one of the dormitories when they were confronted by a startling scene. Looking at the far corner of the room from where the argument ensured. Lucky could only fold his fist in annoyance from where he stood.

"The milk is too little, are you trying to mock me!? Do you think of me as a beggar??" A voice thundered intimidatingly from the corner of the large hall-like room.

"You seem to be a new fish and have no idea of how things are done here. Why don't I welcome you appropriately, hmm?" saying this, Lucky watched in wonderment as that person took hold of the container filled with milk, grabbing forcefully from the little frightened fellow that staggered backwards at the strong gesture. "There you go, this should do the job" the person smirked victoriously as he made sure to pour all its content into the bowl he had with him, filling it to the brim. Returning the now empty container to the little boy whose eyes were filled with hot tears that would pour anytime soon. He said "where's the chocolate? You don't expect me to have an incomplete meal now, do you?" he had taken the liberty, as he was now rummaging the boy's locker that were filled with different varieties of provisions.

Grabbing hold of the chocolate bar that came in sight, "lock it up and get out of my sight before I decide to take everything in there!" he spoke commandingly, referring to the locker filled with delightful provisions. The boy didn't need to be told twice as he made sure to lock his locker as quickly and securely as he could, before he scurried away from there within few seconds.

"New fishes, always trying to act brave" now having the chocolate in his mouth as he ate noisily. This person looked big and much more mature in facial features than other people he had met today thought Lucky to himself. Perhaps he was a bully who hadn't been taught his place! Thinking about how corky this person had acted just moments ago, Lucky decided it was only right to teach this fellow a lesson. Now that he was here, they would learn to behave well in his presence! Regardless of the height and size of the fellow, Lucky wasn't deterred. He seemed determined to show this peasant how it was done.

"What are you doing?!" Josh exclaimed in a low voice as Lucky had started walking in the direction of that person. His forehead now creased with worry. This was what he had been worried about. Lucky had always been fearless and brave right from their primary school days. He could tell things would turn bad, especially for Lucky if he did what he was about to do! Josh thought alarmed. As he tried subtly to stop Lucky from stepping any further towards that person. Only he knew that that person was a senior, the long trousers said it all!

"Always being scared" Lucky taunted Josh as he released himself from his grip "I will make it as quick as possible so that no one comes to know about it" he assured Josh as he sauntered forward, taking his own sweet time to stroll over to meet the person who had dared to behave corky in his presence. Josh could only close his eyes as he offered silent prayers for his dear friend who didn't know what he was getting into.

"Hey, you! Yes you!" Lucky spoke in an authoritative tone as though he was looking at an insect. "You must be feeling high to act so brave in front of me, how dare you do things that I ought to do!?" Josh eyes widened in shock. Lucky had outdone his imaginations once again. "Slap!!" a resounding clatter shook the room. Michael who had been tired of standing now chuckled. Lucky didn't fail to amuse him.

The sound of a clashing bowl on the floor filled the room. Lucky had slapped that person so hard that his bowl along with 'his' milk had fallen hard on the ground, having its contents splashing all over the place in waste!

"How rough of your stupid face to hurt my palm!" Lucky wasn't done yet. He had slapped that person with all his might that the impact wasn't friendly even to him who had delivered the slap. Trying to sooth his now burning palm. He rubbed his palm with the other, a frown marrying his face. His brown large eyes shone for the audacity! That person had hurt him indirectly!

That person was trying to recover from his shock when a punch came flying to his face. Within a matter of seconds, Lucky had engaged himself into a physical combat with the boy who was too shocked to react, everything happened so fast!

Josh didn't know what was happening. He had been worried for Lucky, but now it looked like he had underestimated his friend's ability to shock people! The senior student groaned in pain as he received punches back and forth on his face!

Who had let a mad person into the school premises! He cried inwardly as the pain he was feeling was too hard to bear. The mad man hadn't given him any opportunity to defend himself. Lucky who had gone all out on the senior, decided to take a break. Looking at the person's face that was now covered with bruises. He smirked triumphantly as he admired his handiwork.

"Bravo!!" Michael cheered from the sidelines as he walked forward to pat his friend on the back who smiled proudly in return.

"How dare you?!" roared the senior as he had now regained his senses. He laid on the cold floor glaring at the ant that had beaten him to a pulp. 'How?' he couldn't help but gawk at the little mad man. He had been eating the chocolate bar that he had just 'taxed' from a junior, when this thing had started beating him! First it was a slap, then a punch! He scowled at the boy who had done this to him. How humiliating!

In furry he rose from the ground as he tried to get hold of the boy, using his height to his advantage. He came to grab Lucky at the collar. But Lucky was one step ahead. Being a fighter right from his childhood, he just gave him a punch to the eye to blind him temporarily, and another to the head that had the senior student falling flat on the ground. Turning unconscious immediately.

"What did you do?!" Josh shrieked with wide eyes as he rushed to where the senior student now laid on the ground unconscious with a black eye and bruised face. "Do you have any idea who this is?" Josh questioned Lucky from where he squatted beside the unconscious body. A small frown on his face as he glared at Lucky disapprovingly.

"Who cares? He will know not to act mighty in front of me next time! I did tell you I would make it quick, didn't I?" Lucky spoke nonchalantly with a smirk on his face as he strolled out of the room. He remained unbothered.

It was only the first day and a person was lying on the floor unconscious. Josh sighed in exhaustion as he wondered what will become of him in the near future.

Placing the senior on the bunk bed below, Josh wondered how weak this senior was, to pass out only by a few punches. He looked like a big crumbled vegetable leaf now. To think he had just bullied someone innocent moments ago made Josh feel less pity for him, as he still remained unconscious.

"Do you think Lucky punched too hard? I mean, he looks dead to me" Michael continued with his wild assumptions.

'Dong!!!!' the school bell could be heard from all angles of the school regardless of its expanse. It was the closing bell that had be rung to let the students know that their classes for the day had come to an end.

Students flooded out of their classes, as they made their way out towards the school gates. Some with smiles and relieve on their faces that the tedious day at school had ended for the day. Though some looked pleased that they would finally go home. Same couldn't be told for the boarding students of Independent High School. While the day-students returned home. The boarders continued to stay within the school. As some had started making their way towards their dormitories, nervousness was written all over their features.

"Jog from where you are!!" a baritone voice could be heard loudly like thunder. Standing at the little elevated platform in front of the dormitories, stood a tall muscular figure. In his left hand was a long wooden rod, as he leaned forward lazily, while using the rod as a support mechanism for his weight. "I will give you until the count of three!!!" he continued to roar in his ever-deep magnetic voice that instilled fear in the already approaching students. His tone had already had some of the juniors running to where he was in speed of lightening.

"You can just lie down from where you are" came another bass tone that was even deeper than its predecessor. Walking from behind the dormitory, he came to stand next to the figure that had just spoken moments ago. His features looked stronger and much more intimidating as this person looked no less to a gym instructor. Looking at the trembling students that now laid on the floor, shaking like leaves. He spoke "It seemed as though you have forgotten the rules" glaring at the juniors with red eyes that shown brightly like he had just consumed a whole sack of weed. He enjoyed using vague words to taunt junior students, waiting for them patiently to commit an error so that he could deal with them as he saw fit.

"What did I say about not letting me get to the hostel before you?" he questioned with a hint of excitement and sinister in his eyes, his lips curving upwards to reveal a wicked grin. His fingers played with the leather belt below his waist as he stepped down from the platform, walking towards where the students laid on the grassy school field. He took his own sweet time, strolling in languid steps as he approached them. He knew he had got them just where he wanted.

"I gave numbers after the morning devotion" he continued, as he now stood few steps away from where the students laid. "Number one!" he yelled out of the blue. A few commotions could be heard as the representator of the number rolled forward, sweats tickling down his face. "Senior it's me" the boy spoke in an unstable voice. Not sparing the junior a glance, "Number two!" he yelled for the second time to have another scrawny looking boy to step forward, he appeared to be the representator of the number 'two'. This went on for some time to have more than a dozen of students rise from their former positions to line up behind the rocky looking senior who had his back facing them has he now focused his gaze on the students that laid on the grass in front of him. The sinners he thought.

His sharp gaze could have the students pee in their pants as they had no idea of what awaited them.

Amongst those students lying on the grass, was Lucky. He was fuming in anger! What was all this?!

"Number 102" the gym-like senior called the last number, to have four students rush from the ground forward. They appeared to be a representator of this particular number. "Senior it's me" one of them spoke. "Liar! It's me senior!" another countered, and the other two just stood in place, wondering how four people could share one number. It was obvious that three persons amongst the lot were imposters, leaving only one as the real representator of the number '102'. Looking at the serious and convincing faces of the four students that just stumbled forward made it hard for one to pin point the imposter. Not to mention they were three in this case.

"How interesting" remarked the muscular figure that had spoken earlier. Stepping down from the platform now, he walked forward. While rotating the thick wooden rod he held in his hands so expertly that it spined just like a fan, to have it come to a stop in a quick pause. He held a lazy expression on his face, unlike the gym-like-instructor guy whose eyes looked too vibrant as though he was ready to kill any second. He had a calm demeanor, a deceiving appearance that could fool any fool.

"How gusty of you all. Trying to fool and deceive your elders?" he enquired in a frightening calm tone, as though he wouldn't reprimand them and would just let them off with a warning. It was like the calm before the storm, and the students knew better not to trust the facade!

"Now it feels like am speaking to rocks as you all appear to be too big to respond to my questions, is it not?" he probed further. The sarcasm evident in his tone.

Walking over to the four boys who had decided to annoy him this noon. He raised the rod he had with him in the air to have the boys retrace their steps backwards in horror. "What are you doing?" he asked as sparks of annoyance appeared in his dull eyes. He swung his arms lightly to have the pole land on one of the boy's head, giving out a knock! sound.

Cries and wailings had suddenly begun to fill the air as the boy rolled and prostrated on the ground, dancing from one place to another on the ground that had his uniform soiled.

Annoyed at the act and over exaggeration from the little fellow. The red eyed body builder stepped forward. Picking up the junior from the ground almost effortlessly, he repositioned him to stand straight in a way that had his buttocks protruding out. Smacking the boy's buttocks hard with his bare hands that worked like metal and was as effective as any other disciplinary tool. The boy screamed as loud as he could, as his buttocks felt like it was on fire and he struggled in vain to get free from the glue-like arms that held him in place unshaken. Everyone could tell that this time, the tears were real and not faked.

Letting go of the boy who looked like he would pass out anytime soon.

"Return to your dormitories and make sure to prepare yourselves before the next calling bell" He ordered to have the students scatter as the retired to their hostel while being grateful towards the boy who had taken the fall.

"What the hell was that?" Lucky looked confused. He didn't know what to make of the scene he had just witness, what balls they've got! He cursed inwardly.

Josh who had not expected to escape today unscathed looked rather grateful as he thanked his stars.

"I want to go home" Michael suddenly revealed. He had never felt so intimidated his whole life! To think he had done nothing wrong and had just arrived today made him wondered what more scares the future held for him. All he could see was red flags right now.

"I think I want to leave right this instant" he reaffirmed as he halted his steps from walking any further making the two stop at their tracks.

"You fool! This is no time to start your childish tantrums" Josh scolded.

"What the hell happened back there, Josh?" Lucky asked again "Are they always bullying juniors like that?" he enquired, while looking around the dormitories to see other giants-like figures that roamed the place. Those were undoubtedly senior students!

"Isn't that a normal thing? You saw with your own two eyes. Those are seniors! So, you better follow every word and instruction accordingly" Josh replied nonchalantly. As he made his way towards his dormitory.

Realizing the two still following him around, he asked "weren't you both assigned your dormitories? This is hall A, my hostel. You should check the handouts you were given during the registration process; your dorm and bunk number should be written there" he spoke to the lot. One still held a confused expression. And the other was fuming in rage! They still hadn't gotten over what happened moments ago.

"You should hurry, the dinni-" Josh hadn't completed his sentence when the dinning bell for lunch ranged, echoing loudly across the vast school.

Moments after the bell had been rung, students could be seen pouring out from their dormitories as they made their way towards the dinning hall in straight lines. Class by class.

In their hands were things like bowls and plates, cutleries and flacks containing water. A few looked quite enthusiastic heading towards the dining hall, while the rest held a bored and maybe nervous expression plastered on their faces.

Apart from the usual uniform they had worn moments ago, Lucky noticed they were dressed in different clothing now, a green checkered pattern shirt, and a pair of green shorts to match. While the seniors ranging from SS1 upwards, wore long trousers instead of shorts. A way of segregating the juniors from the seniors.

"Where are they going?" Michael asked looking worried. They all looked like they were marching to the butcher house!

"To the dining of course" Josh replied as if it was an obvious fact, which was. Except Michael didn't see the obvious.

"You should go and sort out yourselves by finding dorm and settling in. dining isn't compulsory here, so you can skip this one. Except you are hungry?" Josh advised leaving the two as he disappeared inside his dormitory.

"What do we do now" Michael asked feeling today wasn't going well as planned. He hadn't seen any female in sight! Not even an old lady!

"We do as the nerd said" Lucky replied nonchalantly as he started to walk away from there. "Go sort your things and locate your dorm rather than being a big baby" Lucky scolded lightly as he left the place.
