"First thing on the itinerary — get more disciples."
Liu Feng thought it through. If he wanted to get more DP from the turnovers, he couldn't rely only on Shu Fanrong despite her quick improvements.
"In that case, I should find more people with Ice and Fire roots in the village."
The only manual he had in hand right now, the Discordant Tempering Technique, was a Unique grade manual, meaning that it could only be used in special cases. Ice and Fire spiritual roots were a proven case as demonstrated by Shu Fanrong. Liu Feng hadn't the guts to try it out on other people with a different constitution, even if that constitution screamed conflict.
"Problem is, I don't have any testing artifacts."
Usually, all the big sects would have an artifact that could detect the spiritual roots of an individual. This was for when they would recruit disciples.
In the Great Order Sect, specifically, the artifact used was a totem-like 3 foot tall stone cylinder. Once someone walked in the vicinity, the artifact would be able to tell immediately what kind of spiritual roots they had.
Throughout the entire the decade that he's lived here, Liu Feng had only seen this artifact once—when he got himself tested. After that, the sect reluctantly accepted him.
At the time, Liu Feng had no idea why the sect accepted him. His guess was that he had some secret connections that even he didn't know of. However, as time passed, he realized that the sect only needed new mortals because the ones in charge of various mortal facilities were already getting up there in age.
"Heh, the good old days... Wait, I'm getting sidetracked."
The artifact in question, the Unearthing Root Rod, could be used by Liu Feng to detect the roots of his potential disciple candidates, except for the fact that it was broken, shattered in half. He had discovered its remains back when he was burying all of the members of the sect. One half was embedded on the platform, while the upper half lied beside it lifelessly.
The two halves didn't even connect together, as the part that connected the two was shattered into small pieces, spread all over the floor.
"A more convenient option would be if the system had this function. Unfortunately, an information interface only shows up for my disciples.
"Well, all of this depends on the fact that I'm going with my first plan. My second plan, is to rely on the 150% refund rate."
The 150% special refund condition was something that constantly tempted Liu Feng, but never had the chance to utilize, in part due to his luck, and mostly due to his ignorance in matters about cultivation.
However, now that Shu Fanrong was on a fast track to become a talented cultivator, he couldn't simply use her as a test subject anymore.
The only solution to this problem would be to get more disciples. Liu Feng even thought that it didn't need to be a disciple, he just needed someone to use his creations.
"After all, the system doesn't mention that the user of the Creation has to be a disciple or a member of the sect."
He also needed to test if the special refund condition would still apply when someone received backlash from a Creation, even after someone else successfully used it beforehand.
"My recruitment drive last time didn't go so well. In this case, I can bring Shu Fanrong back to the village for now as a sort of advertisement."
Of course, as it was still in the middle of the night, Liu Feng lied on his bed and started snoring almost immediately.
.....
The next morning.
Kaojin Village.
In the 5 days that their daughter went missing, Wen Yingyu and her husband felt nothing but worry and guilt.
"It's only been 5 days. How far could she have gone?"
"For a small child like her, she probably hasn't gone outside the Jushi Mountain Range yet, right?"
"Well, for her to be gone for this long... We need to prepare for the worst case scenario." The husband shook his head.
"What? How can you say that about your own daughter?!"
Wen Yingyu, whose eyebags could be mistaken for makeup, sat on the bed wistfully. She couldn't hold back the tears in her eyes.
They recalled their fellow villagers' words when asked about Shu Fanrong's whereabouts. Almost all of them said something about a vagabond magician masquerading as a cultivator taking her away.
At the time, there was no reason for alarm, but now that Shu Fanrong had disappeared for 5 days, the villagers regretted not doing anything about it.
"Don't worry. If ever that vagabond comes back... I'll take care of him thoroughly." A murderous glint flashed on the husband's eyes.
All of a sudden, someone barged into their house.
"Wen Yingyu! The vagabond, he's back!"
Both Wen Yingyu and her husband stood up, alarmed.
"Where? Where is he?"
Before the villager could answer, Wen Yingyu had already dashed out of the house and looked around the vicinity.
"Rongrong! Where are you?!"
Liu Feng, who had just entered the village, heard the ear-piercing cries coming from Wen Yingyu.
He had decided not to disturb Shu Fanrong's cultivation in the end and went to scout the situation in the village for now. This time, he looked much more dignified with the system-provided ever-clean Sect Master uniform.
Looking at the direction where the shriek came from, Liu Feng saw a woman who had massive eye bags and looked like she hadn't taken a bath in a while.
"Uhm, I shouldn't judge a villager's lifestyle."
Before he could do anything else, he saw another villager pointing towards him, after which a man with a huge physique started heading towards him with unconcealed rage in his eyes.
"You damn vagrant! Where is my daughter?!"
On the way to Liu Feng, Wen Yingyu's husband noticed that the supposed vagabond wore a black silk robe that exuded dignity, as opposed to the tattered war-torn robe the villagers told him about.
This must mean... the vagabond had done something to his daughter to be able to afford these clothes!
Liu Feng was startled by the big man rushing towards him. No matter which way he put it, the man was definitely talking to him!
"Your daughter? I don't know what you're talking about!"
