Stay Alert

The two goddess followers left the house and proceeded towards the trial that Mari had. She also had many questions about what happened and reasoned that she could as Vola about it because it revolved the trial itself.

"Maybe this is what she wanted." Said Mari.

Mari thought that Vola set her up so that she can begin to understand more about the trial and more about the divine powers of the goddess.

"It's just through the forest and you will be able to notice it immediately, General canidate." Said Cameron.

"Do you always have to call me that? I thought that you were a berry picker, yet you continue to address me as if you served some time in your nations army." Said Mari.

"General candidate, what do you think happens when the goddess of the undead gives the dead a new life?" Asked Cameron.

"Well I don't know." Said Mari.

Mari didn't know, this wasn't one of her questions just yet. She hadn't gotten to this point of thinking. She was far too distracted with what was in front of her and what was in front of her was Cameron who kept calling her General candidate.

It didn't suit Cameron, she was a berry picker not anyone's servant or military combatant. Yet she continued to address Mari with such formality that it gathered the attention of Mari.

"During the process of being blessed by the goddess our consciousness goes through a separate dimension. This is what people call when they are passing over to the other side. This other side is only a power of the goddess, she has full reign of that dimension." Cameron said.

"Okay, but that doesn't explain my question, now does it?" Asked Mari.

"General Candidate, when our soul arrives it is separated from our body and doesn't maintain the same passage of time. In total, the moment that you chose me to be your servant, the moment that my souls was inscribed by your dark energy I was selected to undergo harsh trials and training." Said Cameron.

"Okay so why do you maintain such a fragile body that's not suited for combat?" Asked Mari.

"The training we all underwent is generalized training. We were taught how to obey and find happiness following the goddess." Said Cameron.

"Seems like in that instant there's a lot more to what happens. So what do you think happened to the others?" Asked Mari.

"General Candidate, in truth I have no idea. They did not enter the gate." Said Cameron.

The gate that Cameron was talking about was the entrance to the dimension she just spoke about. The entirety of this situation was much more complex than Mari had ever thought it might be. The logic behind it was beyond the world she came from.

The world Mari came from was a parallel to earth that has yet to discover the industrial revolution. Although the world Mari lived lacked technology, they developed something else as the powers of gods from stronger earths transcended their powers into this earth.

To Mari it was all the act of a goddess and something she never thought she would be able to understand. It was much more simplistic than she thought, but this didn't stop her from always having a curious mind.

The two berry pickers in the house that they just left disappeared without a single trace and Cameron had no idea what had happened. She was just as shocked as Mari was.

"Well like you said earlier Cameron, we have a task in front of us and I'm glad to have you part of it as my soldier." Said Mari.

"Yes General Candidate, I will make sure to guide you well. It is my duty as a simple servant of the goddess of undead." Said Cameron.

The two already travelled the path in the forest and were heading close to the village that Vola the taskmaster had told Mari to head forward to.

Behind the thick trees that still spotted lush green leafs was something you can barely consider a village. It was more as if it was a kingdom. It was the size of a city and the walls were the size of great large trees, it hovered far into the sky. It made Mari wonder as to why she wasn't able to spot the insanely large walls, but then she remembered that she was so occupied with everything in front of her.

"Wow. This is a little too big to consider a village don't you think Cameron?" Asked Mari.

"General Candidate, in this world the real kingdoms are the sizes of a continent in your home town. The size of this is extremely small compared to those, and such are called villages." Said Cameron.

"World, huh?" Squeaked Mari.

"Yes. This world that you're in now is a special experience given to you only through the blessing of the goddess." Said Mari.

Although that's what Cameron had said, it meant no sense to Mari because those words really didn't register. It made no sense in the way she said it and Mari was all too tired to try to make her repeat herself. Besides Mari has finally gotten to the village and now has to try to figure out if that puddle she experiences was truly part of the plague that she was sent to discover and cure.

"Cameron. Do you know where we can start when we enter those large walls?" Asked Mari.

"No. My memories of this place is fuzzy but I do recall that everything inside the village was going great. We were getting ready to celebrate the gods that step onto our lands once every century." Said Cameron.

"Wow- so the gods also bless these lands the same way they do our world. I guess that makes sense. Why only interfere with one world when you can interfere with many?" Jokingly asked Mari.

"General Candidate, I must warn you from such questions while you serve the strongest goddess of them all." Said Cameron.

"Right."

Mari had experienced a lot recently and originally had agreed to follow the tasks given to her to make sure that she can safely return to her lover Kai, and give him a warm embrace. Although this was the case she has been working up such a large amount of fatigue that her entire being was becoming fuzzy and was trying to grasp reality in front of her.
