Convenience Store

With that deadly baseball bat in hand, Hyeon ventured out into the chaotic world. What greeted him was utter destruction. Occasionally he would check the bodies that were still intact hoping that there was someone even half alive. He didn't want to believe he was the only human alive. He wasn't even human.

He would have to fight the urge to devour the bodies then and there but he restrained himself, deciding he would only do such a thing when it was absolutely necessary. Otherwise he wouldn't be able to consider himself even half human. He walked for a few days thinking of the places Yeon would go to.

It wasn't long before he came across a convenience store. He stopped and stared at it for a while. Any normal human would think about grabbing supplies to survive but on the other hand, a large store like this was bound to have zombies roaming around. He was about to ignore it and avoid wasting unnecessary time when he saw a group running inside.

They were definitely humans.

Hyeon saw the first sign of life since waking up in the school, naturally he couldn't ignore it and chose to silently follow the group inside the store, clenching the metal baseball bat in his hand.

He entered through the automatic doors that repeatedly opened and closed due to the lone leg stuck between the two sides. The top of the leg that had been separated from the body had jagged bitemarks.

Hyeon stepped over the leg and entered the store, watching as the teens wearing a similar uniform as him walk through the aisles grabbing everything edible and within reach.

"HAHAHA" A boy laughed as he took down a large bottle of whiskey, proudly showing it off to the other three. "Look what I found." The others praised him and grabbed some smaller bottles of alcohol, stuffing them in bags.

The brainless twerps didn't even pack sustainable foods, only a small and timid girl, who looked like a lackey was looking carefully at the stuff she picked up, choosing mainly canned food. Hyeon was staring at one person in particular while watching the group.

It was a blonde boy, leaning on a wall with one hand stuffed inside his pocket and the other swiping the screen as if he was scrolling through something. "Fuck" he crused as he pulled his left hand from the pocket and repeatedly tapped his finger against the phone screen.

The timid girl glanced up when he cursed and met his eyes. "Hey, go get me a charger." She shrunk back in fear and glanced down the empty aisle, the air was silent and still and the light was constantly flashing, giving the feel of a horror movie. "Right now." He lowered his voice threateningly and the girl scampered away.

If she ignored his order she would surely die, but there was no guarantee that there was a zombie in the electronics aisle. Despite the reassurance her fear still lingered, she could feel tears welling up and her whole body trembled as she left the group.

The blonde was casually glancing around when he spotted Hyeon. "Who are you?" He asked, the other two followed his line of sight and saw the figure not too far from them, facial features hidden by the glaring sun from outside.

"Well, Well, Well." James taunted as he finally saw the person in front of him clearly, "You survived?" The corner of his lips pulled up into a smirk and he scanned the person's body. "You should be turning anytime soon, you're all wrapped up like a mummy." He chuckled, but kept his distance from the person who he thought could turn at any second. "Did you think wrapping yourself up like this could-"

He didn't finish his sentence before he felt a piercing pain in his leg. He suddenly couldn't support his upper body anymore and fell to the floor, his leg twisted into an ugly direction. "What the fuck?!" He screamed in pain.

The sound travelled a distance and quite a number of zombies turned towards the source of the sound and ran.

Hyein didn't stop there, he lifted the metal bat with nails protruding at every corner of it and slammed it down into the other's legs. James screamed again, he felt as if his throat was gonna burst. Tears flowed from his eyes.

"Hey…" The other male that was with James called out cautiously. "What are you doing?" He looked fearfully between Hyeon and James before grabbing the arms of the girl beside him "Let's get out of here." He whispered.

Hyeon didn't care about them and they escaped and ran far away from there. Hyeon smashed James's two arms, ignoring his pleas and cries just as he had done to him. He stepped back with the bloody bat hanging in his hand as he stared in appreciation at the scene in front of him

His lips pulled up into a smile, he wasn't satisfied though. Hyeon could hear the moans, feel the earth tremble and the smell of rotten flesh and enter his nostrils, thus he stood aside.

James was curled up whimpering but when he saw Hyeon step aside, he couldn't help but feel relief at his life being spared. It didn't last long.

Countless Zombies ran towards the store like wild animals, dead skin covered in blood and huddled together in groups running as if fire was hot on their tails. The scene was horrific to James who was laying on the floor, vulnerable.

Hyeon watched as the zombies ate at him, fighting over his flesh. He finally felt satisfied as he stared into James's hopeless eyes. Hyeon heard the small sounds of whimpering and so did the zombies. They changed their target and ran in the direction of the electronic aisle. Hyeon glanced in the direction and saw the fearful eyes of the timid girl glancing at him as the zombies devoured her.

He saw James' body twitching and realised that they hadn't completely killed him so he was bound to turn. Thus Hyeon bent down and ripped the head from its place and threw it away with disgust, unaware of the person watching him with keen interest.
