Chapter 38: The Destruction of Success

(Anthony’s POV)

I fidget with my tie before Bethany swats my hand away. “Anthony, it’s going to be okay. Breathe, babe. Just play the innocent CEO and call it a night. You can do this,” she smiles encouragingly. How can she be so positive all the time?

I let out a breath that I’d been holding for longer than necessary and pull her gentle hands up to my lips to kiss. “I’m not that stressed,” I lie through my teeth, and she knows it, but it gives me more confidence. “There’s also no such thing as an innocent CEO. I’ll be back tonight. Have Griffin buy you dinner later and take you to do whatever you want. Just make sure you guys take Lorenzo or someone else with you, please.”

She nods her head and runs into the other room of the house to bug Griffin. Sounds great. I slip out of the house before anyone else can stop me and head to the crime scene.
