An over-abundance of news vehicles filled the emergency entrance to the hospital's parking lot. Ken wove around to the visitor lot and parked the van. Alex and Beth sprang out of the vehicle and hustled through the parking lot to the visitor entrance as Ken gathered the kids and made his way toward the entrance. Just before she reached the doorway, the press bombarded her. She and Beth tried to push their way forward through the doors but they couldn't manage. The reporters recognized her as the widow of the police officer who'd been killed earlier in the year. They shouted questions to her, one right after the other.
