Mina grinned as she made her way through the castle, happy now she had a clear path to getting her own way. The guard outside her father's study door did not move a muscle as she approached, a sure sign the king was busy with something that could not be interrupted. Taking a seat by the window, she tapped her foot restlessly as she waited.


What seemed like ages later, she was still sitting there. Turning in her chair, she tried to catch the guard's eye, but he ignored her. Someone important must be with her father if his doorman wasn't even prepared to engage with the princess. She stood to leave just as the door opened.


'And you don't want to tell me who you have in mind for our new captain?' a voice Mina recognised asked from inside the room.
