The beginning (2)

"My name is Haru…?" I pointed at myself; I felt a bit excited. I got the first information I got about this body!

"Well…" the girl fidgets inside the pocket, it seemed that she was reaching for something.

"…"

I waited.

"This…" she held out a piece of paper, "...someone was putting this flyer on a single post, I looked everywhere for any person who found the flyer too, but I didn't find anyone."

I was awestruck. I expected more but I got only a few information.

"I don't know anyone who saw the flyer, and I was a bit worried, so I came to look for you myself." She added.

"So that means…you don't know me?"

"Yes."

"A mere stranger like me, yet you decided to help me?" I pointed at myself once again.

"Why? Is there something wrong about it?" she raised a brow.

I gently took the paper from her hands and read it. It says as follows:

[Missing person: Haru

Description:

Male. 188 cm. Short brown hair.

Additional statements:

Missing for 23 years. Somewhere in Hantereck city. If found, please deliver him to the Daunf mountain]

That is a very weird statement.

I stared at the paper for a few minutes and finally adapted the weirdness that is happening.

"Is it okay if I keep this?" I asked the girl.

"Of course." She beamed, proud to have ever finally helped someone.

"Well, I don't have any rewards to give so—"

"It's okay sir. I'm already happy that I've helped someone." She smiled and left politely.

Hm. This new world is a weird.

Wait, to Daunf Mountain? Where is that??

I looked around to ask the girl once again, but she already left. Damnit, this making me mad.

I was hoping that this place would have some map directions, but I found none.

Luckily, I have the flyer that she found, I read so closely, word by word, I found a small writing just at the bottom of the paper.

[To the North.]

Whoever wrote this must've known about my current situation right now, just what kind of person have concluded this from the beginning by writing?

I sighed and went inside the building where I was earlier, hoping to find some additional supplies. I went inside the building. I was quite puzzled at first, the building I was into earlier was now gone.

What the hell is happening….

These guys who chose me, is probably toying me, bastards.

Well, I guess I'll be some 'old merchant' travelling for approximately 500 miles towards the mountain to the north, while wearing these ragged clothes.

I'm not gonna lie to myself, even though this body is well built and healthy, I was easily tired.

I started my journey towards the North Mountain of Daunf, with only a few inventories and just thin old clothes. What could happen?

"Gaagh."

The sun blazed on the afternoon. I had no lunch and have only 2 bottles of water. My tongue and my throat felt so dry.

Looking around to rest on, there was a single tree on my right. My face beamed when the tree shade is enough for me to stay until I continue once again.

I ran towards the tree, just 10 meters away.

I huffed and sweat trickled down on my whole body. I plopped down the shade immediately, feeling the ache from both of my legs.

"What a hot sunny day."

Come to think of it, I don't see a clock anywhere around the city. Don't tell me, this world has less technology than I expected?

I looked down on the city from the mountain I hiked. It was unexpectedly big and quite busy.

There were a lot of people too. There's no way that the technology here is way too less.

Before I knew it, I was too tired to continue furthermore, so I dozed off. While my eyes were closed, my mind came to thought; I've travelled for only 3 kilometers.

How many days for me to arrive to that mountain…I have to know….

I fell asleep.

"Hey wake up. Hey, hey, HEY!"

There was a hard touch on my shoulder. I opened my eyes and there was a stranger with a black flat hat and neatly cleaned suit.

"A-are you okay?" The man was having second thoughts on what to say. Of course, if I found someone on the starting line of a mountain hike, with ragged clothes, a rather good-looking face, and a well-built body, I would be having a lot of questions.

"I'm okay sir, thank you."

I slowly stood up and brushed off the dirt from my legs. The man looked at me with worried eyes. If I were to describe this man, he would probably be in his mid-40's and from a noble family with a great income.

"May I ask where you're going to at this time?" He took of his hat and gently smiled.

I don't know why if he's being kind or just being respectful just because I got good face. No matter the reason, I felt envious, I haven't seen those kind smiles since my previous life.

"I'm heading to the Daunf mountain sir."

I could tell that the man had put up a shocked face when he heard that. But then he softly smiled and said.

"If you could, I can tell my assistants to escort you safely there."

I was not making any unnecessary faces, but I did say some offensive words.

"If you do that just to please me to work on your company just because I'm good-looking, then I refuse."

I expected him to be more defensive. He had a flabbergasted face and for a moment he then gently chuckled.

"I apologize if you think of me as that kind of man, but I have no intention for making you work."

"Then what's the valid reason that you wanted to escort me?"

"You were just like my late son." His eyes narrowed as he smiled painfully yet again.

I expect that he was just as handsome and tall kind of man like this body.

"He also liked to travel everywhere with risk, and that he always loved the shade of the tree."

"…"

This man kept surprising me.

"So, is that why you wanted to escort me?" I placed my hands on my waist and raised a brow.

"Here…" he took out his business card, "…if you have anything to ask for, please don't hesitate to call me."

He placed the card on my right palm, I could feel his soft fingers, he's getting old. I would never burden a man like this.

"Truthfully, I've been also a traveler myself, I was always taking a risk, there were a lot of beasts on anywhere I go, I was lucky enough to run a business relating about it." He smiled.

I bet this guy is running a business related to travelling and terminating beasts.

"So, you expect me to join your lame business?"

"No, I won't use someone mercilessly like that, I wanted to help, my son died just because I was busy working, and I regret the time when I could just escort him safely before his travel."

"…"

There was silence.

"Thank you."

I put the business card on my cloth belt and bowed politely to the man.

"I appreciate the concern, but I do not intend to let someone escort me in any way."

He smiled, relieved than rather being disappointed. "I understand, I would let you go, since you survived in this place, unharmed I guess."

"Thank you so much sir."

"It's okay, you can still contact me whenever you want, I'll be willing to pick up the telephone." He waved goodbye and smiled one last time to me.

I smiled in return. That guy wasn't so bad. Then he walked down the mountain the opposite way to where I was going.

They have telephones here, that means, technology here suits me better.

I stretched my back, then laid out a sigh.

"It's time to go."

I ran towards the North. Although at that moment, I didn't knew, something bad was going to happen.
