01: Su Chun's Side Story

As Su Chun lay dying, he thought that he had lived a life full of passion and freedom, doing as he pleased. The one thing that saddened him was that he would not be able to show filial piety to his parents or grow old with his wife.

And then...

There was also the woman who refused to return to the capital with him. He could hardly remember what she looked like, but he remembered her eyes were very expressive. He did not know much about what happened after death, but he felt as if his soul had taken flight.

First, he returned to the place he missed the most, Qi Country Duke's Mansion. He saw his wife waiting joyfully for his triumphant return, his father anxiously awaiting the war reports day by day, and his mother praying at the small Buddha hall every day for his safe return.

His feelings were sour and bitter—he was not a good son, having caused his parents such worry and fear.
