A little girl whose appearance that looks no older than 10 years old sat in a luxuriously decorated room. If one was to look around the room ones breath would truly be taken away by the extremely of not only its size but also its vibrancy, glistening furniture and a chandelier mimicking a miniature sun.
It was truly a room that screams wealth, power and success. And yet a stark contrast laid dead center in the room was a figure, albeit cute with a lovely petite dressed matching her surrounding of glamour was leaking an aura so heavy and dark just that being close would render the happiest of spirits to feeling nothing but gloom and pessimism.
"Nothing's interesting happens anymore. Everything just feels monotonous and repetitive. I'm so bored..."
A voice so tender, so soft, that'll tickle anyone's ear who'd hear her voice. If anyone was there at the moment no one would believe even their own senses that someone so beautiful, someone who sounds so lovely so...silvery would exude an aura of boredom and disinterest almost to a life like degree.
She sighed as she proceeded to stand up and walked over to a luxuriously decorated side table. Her figure was truly breath taking, her skin was milky white almost pale and her body looked so soft that one would mistake her for not having any bones in her body.
Her eyes were dark silver that lacked any glow, despite the luxuriously decorated room that would impress anyone who's laid their eyes on it would definitely be impressed, her eyes reflected nothing. If one was to look directly into her eyes one would feel nothing. And that was exactly it, she felt nothing.
As she walked over to the bed side table in a well-paced, well-polished manner she would take quick glances around the room, repeatedly sighing internally at how unnecessarily colorful it was. As she got closer however, her heart beat increased in pace, her beautiful snow white cheeks flushed slightly, her dark silver eyes that lacked any glow or Luster shined momentarily at the thought of what laid within. As she slightly bent her lithe figure to open drawer and reached inside a small imperceptible smile crossed her lips.
"Even though I've already watched ten times over it always manages to get me excited, hehe. It is truly unfortunate that I've been forbidden from purchasing the most recent release of this series, truly unfortunate indeed."
She whispered. Even though that's what she said it didn't lessen her joyous mood not one bit. As she grasped onto the case she took out a CD form within. She merrily skipped over back to the pure white soft line fabric classily themed modern styled sofa.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
"Young miss, young miss are you alright!?!"
A rough almost guttural shout sounded from the behind a thick sliding door towering 7 ft. A true monster of a door, yet such a door was kicked open almost effortlessly showing just how much of a monster this person was.
With a start the petite figure spun around quickly in shock, fear flickering across her eyes for only just a moment.
"You..."
After her momentary shock died down and she calmly scanned the cleanly chiseled face before her, her calmness quickly eroded into unpleasantly and annoyance.
"What may be the problem, if you don't have a justifiable reason for interrupting my only free time prepare for the consequences."
Even though her brows were furrowed and a small frown across her face the slim yet lean figure that burst through the room only spared a single glance in her direction before quickly scanning the room for anything out if the ordinary.
"How dare you ignore m-?"
"Young miss apologies in advance but we must leave immediately, are you hurt, was there any strange sounds as of recently?"
The man spoke in a low and stern tone as he made his way quickly over to her.
Despite being displeased about his tone of voice to her and him cutting her off, she wasn't stupid. In fact, she was a very sharp child with impeccable intellect and sharp at discerning people's expressions, tones and general behavior. Traits needed to survive if one wanted to keep not only their wealth but also their lives.
With furrowed brows she answered immediately in a soft clear voice.
"Of course not. Did something happen?"
She asked with a bit of fear and apprehension in her voice. She remembered only 2 instances where something similar like this has happened before, usually it's when her father grows a bit more ambitious rival families would send undercover forces to harm her or use her as leverage.
This situation felt very similar to those instances, making her soul tremble and her body to shake slightly in fear.
"Not to worry Young miss your father has prepared for any unexpected occurrences, everything is under control. Please."
In a monotonous tone he gestured her to his side as they quickly traveled through the mazelike structure of a house. Dressed in a black and white tuxedo he could help thinking
'If she was truly to know the truth of what is happening in the world currently she'd probably die of fear.'
Sighing internally they made their way outside to a black hatch back GMC caravan surrounded by four men armed with semi-automatic rifles and dual pistols wrapped around their legs vigilantly screening the surroundings.
If one was to look closely they all seem to be a bit ...tense.
The girl seeing this could feel her rate increase exponentially.
"Hurry inside Young Miss and I apologize in advance. Everyone to your position!"
Apprehension filled her heart as she quickly entered into the vehicle. Immediately after, two of the guys stationed around the caravan flanked both her left and right of her. She took a quick frightened look at the figures beside her, she quickly regretted because not only did it not calm her down but from their expressions one could see just how tense they were.
'Don't tell me, are they scared of something. What could possibly scare armed men hand selected by her father?'
As this thought appeared across her mind, her fear seemed to grow in proportion.
As an unknown amount of time has passed the guy in the passenger seat seemed to try and get into contact with someone over his ear piece.
*Static noises*
"Beta team, omega team hasn't contacted us as of this time, is the contingency path clear? Come in."
"Beta team omega team, report *static noises* dammit!"
Hearing no responses the static noises was truly nerve racking within the deafening silence of the car. The guy in the passenger bent over to the driver slightly and whispered something in his ear.
"We've lost...over run...contact...drivers...through Segoe."
Though she was definitely proud of her sharp senses she could barely make out what was being said. But from the severely dark expression and tone from his voice said it all. After that moment there was no further sound, nothing but the sound of the roar of the vehicle as it sped up. After a while the caravan sped into an impoverished looking town. Buildings littered with cracks, dirt and various other filth. They were in such bad conditions that they could collapse at any time. The road wasn't even tar anymore, just dirt and garbage that appropriately compliments the surroundings.
'Why are we here, where is this?'
She thought as this place was completely new to her, she tried to quickly scan her surroundings as it quickly passes by.
"Settle down Miss and don't make too much noise, the area might be compromised and we don't want any unnecessary noises."
One of the body guards mentioned. His voice heavy and somber.
She replied by looking back at the man quizzically, waiting for him to elaborate on what he meant.
Seeing her gaze he paused momentarily before quickly glancing at the guy that escorted her, showing that he was most likely the head, not seeing any negative reactions from him he then proceeds to explain.
"It seems to have been an outbreak of some sorts. According to what we've seen so far it's appropriate to call them zombies but not really? One thing for sure though they are highly aggressive and are very hostile."
"Zombies, like those in movies? You've got to be no similar to zombies but aren't? So what makes them different?"
"So far...they don't rot. We've seen some of those things rip people to shreds like they were made of paper, eat the body and then miraculously any injuries the thing had before would just start healing. Those bastards are hard to go down too, one thing those bastards can eat lead."
He mumbled at the end with thick hatred with a mix of annoyance.
"Okay that's enough, we're going into uncharted area and I want everyone's eyes and ears op-"
BOOOOOOOOM!
An explosion sounding like a missile hitting a building close by violently rocked the senses of everybody as the drivers in each vehicle swerved trying to quickly regain control of the vehicles. Unfortunately the driver in front wasn't able to regain control in time and crashed into a light post bringing it down. As luck would have it the post completely blocked the road ahead. The other 2 caravans stopped as routinely 2 persons from each left their respective vehicles and quickly made their way over to check if anyone was alive.
"Aahh"
A scream unbeknownst to everyone there sounded almost like a gentle whisper in the wind.
"Aaahhh"
This time it sounded a bit louder. A whisper caressing your ear, despite it being so quite someone's ear perked right up.
The little girl frantically looked around clearly still spooked out over the story and the accident that just happened.
"How many injured, any deceased."
The lead guy at the shot gun seat gravely called out.
"Aaaaahhhhhh"
Maybe because everyone was focusing on the immediate issue no one but the little girl heard the increasing sounds of screaming.
No longer able to keep silent about the constant screaming she's been hearing she told the other in the car.
"You all don't hear that, the screams?"
"What...shit we wasted too much time. Carry who can be carried and leave the rest we've got to go NOW!!!"
After a moment of listening even he could hear the screams in the distance as he quickly gave orders to the others.
"On y'all gud down deh so!"
"Yeh, why you a drive after that loud explosion you guys mad!!"
Not much but a few groups of people came onto the streets shouting incoherently.
As the guards and the little girl ignored the various shouts and jeers at them they proceeded to enter the vehicles.
Because of that explosion, A team crashed leaving only 2 survivors, now forcing the party to take a different path. The only alternative path unfortunately went in the direction of the sounds of the screams in the distance.
"Go! We'll try and push through!"
The driver nodding his head in confirmation then violently flooring the pedal. The last 2 caravan kicking up dust leaving the residents in confusion and disbelief.
(Short time skips)
Minutes after the caravan took the alternative path.
"F*ck f*ck f*ck! These ass wipes won't get out of the f*cking way!!"
It was pure chaos. The group was surrounded by tens maybe hundreds of people running and cars quickly and violently swerving trying to not hit the running people was they there chased by a swarm of people.
No...Not people but these weird atrocities, monsters as they'd quickly catch up to someone and rip through their flesh like nothing. They were so fast they could match the speeds of car almost effortlessly.
The little girl shivered in fear and terror as she recalled what she saw those things do. Those things could jump distance in meters, from roof tops to roof tops, run through fences and seem to have inexhaustible stamina.
They were especially violent as she saw people get literally ripped to shreds and eaten by those things. She couldn't help shaking even more as she remembered those bloody and horrific scenes. The vehicle wasn't in that good of a shape as well; there were dents from crashing into other cars all over and cracked wind shields. Some even have bullet holes in them.
"There, there!! Head through there!"
The girl pointed at a turnoff, barely wide enough to fit the vehicle. Without hesitation the driver quickly made his way other, swerving through the people he was able to make it through, other drivers and some people who were running saw this and subconsciously started following.
As the road was extremely bad, filled with bumps and holes the van shook violently but was able to carry on. As they looked behind them however everyone's eyes violently shrunk as they witnessed the monsters, the 'zombies' catching up the others behind them as they were soon taken over. What frightened them was how the zombies trapped the others behind them.
The vehicle closest behind them was over turned by two of the 'zombies', after the zombies passed the car they both positioned themselves at the front right most end of the car, gripping it sinking their feet into the pavement below before flipping it over.
And because of the width of the road the others were blocked as few of the runners could make it through but all the drivers were cut off. Those things then began running through the people like a lawn mower in a field of grass killing many.
After a while of driving they realized that they weren't followed by those things. It seemed like those things knew that hunting the large body of people was better than wasting energy chasing just one van. The party couldn't help but release a heavy sigh in relief quickly followed by sadness.
They lost the 3rd caravan and everyone who was in it. They all thought, no believed that they were dead. After they drove through a series of twists and turns they came up on one of those things devouring someone on the street. Everyone couldn't help but tensing slightly but relaxing as it was the only one insight.
Vrooooom!!!
The van started speeding up at the astonishment of the others.
"What are you doing, slow down you idiot!"
"No way! Those bastards killed John, Mara, and Phil...everyone. I'm killing at least one of these bastards!"
"You fool!"
Despite calling him out he didn't really try and stop him because he knew how he felt. They were his men, yet almost all of them were not dead, war buddies, brothers...now forever gone. As the driver in a fit of rage sped to run over the 'zombie' it reacted to the sound of the speeding van with a scream as oddly it seemed to brace itself.
"Brace itself-wait!"
"Don't it's-"
Unfortunately she figured out too late as the van approached the 'zombie' allowed it to be run over with a bump but not before fiercely grabbing hold of the right front wheel and ripping if off the vehicle. The driver quickly lost control; in a panic in trying to recover he didn't see the upcoming sign. As he swerved the van to the left the right end of the vehicle clipped the "Welcome to Soque" sign as everyone recoiled from the collision. The van spun out of control then proceeds to flipped over a couple of times before stopping on its top.
Clearly disoriented the guards tried their fastest to exit the flipped over vehicle but a swarm of 'zombies' quickly started making their way over. Though not as much as what they've seen before they did number in the tens. As the guards started opening fire trying to take out as much of the 'zombies' as possible.
"Ugh, what-"
The little girl still trapped inside the flipped vehicle could help exclaiming from the pulse aching headache as she was still clearly shaken up by the accident. As she grossly watched the guards get over run by the tenacious 'zombies' and were mercilessly ripped apart. Because her sight was slightly blurry she tried to crawl out through the shattered window admit the screams and groans of the guards and 'zombies', as she finally got her upper torso through the window she passed out.
