Natasha sighed as looked at her phone, she really messed up this time, if not for the fact that her baby was so understanding, she was sure that she would hate her, hate her for building her hopes so high, only to tear them down again.
And not to even talk about Dom, but Natasha just felt so bad, so bad that in some way he was right, he was accepting his responsibility as Joy's father, but she did not leave on purpose, she did not plan for this at all, she was only going to spend three days in Russia, but things came up, and now she roped herself into this whole thing.
But Natasha was not one to regret her decisions, she was here, and she was here, besides, just like she told her baby, she would be back home soon, very soon, two months would go by quickly, very quickly, Natasha just hoped that two months would be enough for her to at least find some valid information that she could use.
Natasha sighed once more as she put her phone on her bed as she just sat there, thinking for a while, on one hand, a part of her was like "Natasha, just what are you doing here? Getting yourself entangled in this?" but on the other hand another part of her was like "You need to do this, you need to get the information that you need"
Natasha was torn, but it was obvious which part of her she had listened to, because she was here, was she not?
In the middle of Natasha's thinking, she was snapped out of her thoughts by a knock on her door, so she stood up, and she opened the door as she saw a man standing there.
Natasha did not have time to say anything as the man just handed her bags to her, as he turned around and walked away, leaving Natasha standing there, with her bags, in confusion?
What did she do to him? He didn't even say anything, not even a hello.
Natasha just sighed as she shook her head and she walked back into her room as she closed the door.
"Different people, with different problems" said Natasha to herself as she sighed and she shook her head, but well at least she had her bags with her, now she could at least try to settle in here, Romanoff was right, she would be staying here for the next two months.
…
Romanoff walked through the halls, his face looked very serious, as he passed through a few people as they greeted him, but he did not reply to them at all as he walked into a door, and he opened the door without even knocking.
"Ty ne stuchal (You didn't knock)" came the voice of a brown haired woman who looked middle aged as she looked up from her desk and she looked at Romanoff with a raised eyebrow.
"Mne ne nuzhno stuchat' (I don't need to knock)" said Romanoff as he just closed the door and he sat down across her desk with a lazy expression on his face as the woman felt like scoffing at him, but it was to early in the morning to.
"You are cursing me in your heart aren't you?" asked Romanoff as he looked at the woman.
"Only in a minimal capacity" she replied as Romanoff laughed.
"What do you want Romanoff?" asked the woman as she went back to what she was doing.
"Why were you late today Alisa?" asked Romanoff.
"Well not everyone doesn't like sleeping like you" replied the woman named Alisa as she removed the glasses that she was wearing and she placed them on her desk.
"That's no excuse" said Romanoff.
"Oh give me a break Romanoff, it's only 6am" said Alisa.
"Mhmm" said Romanoff.
"Anyway, why didn't you let Aleksei enter the information for the new recruit?" asked Alisa as she looked at Romanoff.
"So he went whining over to you?" asked Romanoff as he scoffed.
"No he did not, I asked him, I wanted to know more information about this new recruit, and I have nothing but her name" said Alisa.
"Well that is what is most important is it not?" asked Romanoff as Alisa shot him a glare.
"No, not at all Romanoff, what is her age, what does she weigh, does she have any health issues? Any terminal illnesses" said Alisa.
"She is perfectly healthy" replied Romanoff.
"Romanoff stop this, you know how we do these things, if she had entered from a normal process, you know that she would have undergone many medical tests to ensure that they are in perfectly good health, we don't even know her blood type, in case of emergencies" said Alisa.
"Why do you think that out of the 40 applicants we had, we only ended up choosing 10? That was because the rest of them were not deemed healthy enough according to all the tests that was run on them" said Alisa.
"Well I assure you that she is healthy" said Romanoff as Alisa looked like she was about to snap at him.
"But if you insist so much, she can undergo the tests tomorrow" said Romanoff.
"Alright then, I will get the doctor on the line to come and take the tests for her over here, we have already lost time with her, for us to be sure that she can train safely with the others" said Alisa as she typed something on her laptop, they were not amateurs, they were running a very smooth organization here, they could not risk any slip ups.
"Tell me the truth Romanoff… who is this girl to you? Why are you going such an extra mile for her?" asked Alisa as she eyed Romanoff suspiciously, she knew him, for the past 15 years that she had bene working in the union under him, she knew how cold he could be, he did nothing for no one, not even her, so for him to just decide to help this girl, she must have been very important to him.
"No one" replied Romanoff leisurely.
"I don't believe you Romanoff, you say that she is no one, and yet, you are here, cutting corners for her, breaking the rules that you yourself set up" said Alisa.
"She is no one, and I am not breaking my rules Alisa, like you said, I set up the rules, and I can decide to change them if I want to" replied Romanoff as Alisa scoffed, of course there was something that he was not telling her, but she did not want to be on his bad side.
"Keep on lying to yourself Romanoff, but I know that you care for that girl in some way, it is obvious" said Alisa as Romanoff knew that she was right, in order to protect Natasha, he would have to behave like he normally would with others, that would not be too hard at all.
"Whatever you say Alisa" said Romanoff.
"And in regards to your earlier question, her blood type is O positive" said Romanoff.
"And you know this because?" asked Alisa.
"Because her mother was O positive" said Romanoff to himself.
"I am sure you have better work to do, than to question me" said Romanoff.
"You are right, I do" said Alisa.
"In other topics, how are you faring with the new recruits, apart from that, you have now added one more to the list" said Alisa.
"This is not my first training group, neither will it be my last" said Romanoff, he had been training others for as long as he could remember, since he joined this union, not by choice.
"You speak in pride" said Alisa.
"No, I speak in experience" said Romanoff.
"Well, regardless, it is still unfair that you will be the one teaching them everything, the superiors have been looking into it, and until Igor returns from his mission, you will be the only trainer" said Alisa.
"Tell me something that I do not already know" said Romanoff as he scoffed.
"You don't seem stressed" said Alisa.
"Why would I be, I have been doing this all my life" said Romanoff.
"Besides, I love to rough up new comers, it is quite entertaining seeing them struggle" said Romanoff as he laughed and Alisa felt chills run down her spine, after knowing Romanoff for so long, she still did not know him well, but he was definitely someone to be scared of.
"Don't mess with them too much, their blood transfusions are only for critical situations, and not for you to play with them" said Alisa as she reminded Romanoff of that fact.
"Who do you take me for Alisa? I know ways to torture people without them having to lose blood, you belittle me" said Romanoff as he smiled and Alisa shivered, sometimes she forgot just how dangerous this man sitting in front of her was, maybe because he was always joking around most of the time, but when he wanted to get serious, he got serious, so much so that you would forget that he knew how to smile.
"Relax Alisa, you are sweating in winter" said Romanoff as he laughed.
"If I wanted to kill you, I would have done so a long time ago" said Romanoff.
"Please stop scaring me Romanoff, I know what you are capable of, no need to remind me" said Alisa.
"Good, now then, don't ask questions, what I tell you to do, you do, am I clear?" asked Romanoff.
"Yes Commander" said Alisa as she nodded her head, she knew that when Romanoff asked if he was clear, he was really seriously.
"Good, set up the appointment with the Doctor, he will run the tests on her tomorrow" said Romanoff.
"She needs to take a pregnancy test as well" said Alisa as for obvious reasons, they could not accept pregnant recruits.
"She will take it" said Romanoff.
"Okay" said Alisa.
"Take care, and I will see you later Alisa" said Romanoff as he stood up and he walked out of the room as Alisa sighed in relief once he was finally gone.
