The truth

"Agent Dians??" asked Natasha in shock as the secretary nodded.

"Yes Madam, he says that he is here to see you, and that he knows you very well" she added.

"Did he say what he wants to see me for?" asked Natasha.

"No Madam, he only said that you both had something very important to discuss" she said as she shook her head and Natasha paused for a moment.

"Alright... *sigh*, let him in" said Natasha as she sighed and took a moment to calm herself down, because she knew that she looked very panicked right now, which would make her suspicious.

"Alright Madam" replied the secretary as she left Natasha's office and Natasha took a deep breath and calmed herself down.

"Calm down Natasha, calm down, you did nothing wrong..." she said to herself, she had done nothing wrong, the only reason she was caught off guard was because Dians was suddenly here, why was he here? and how did he know where her office was in the first place.

"Natasha I hope you don't mind my sudden appearance" came Dians calmly and suspiciously happy voice.

"Well minding it would be expected, after all I didn't expect you at all Agent" replied Natasha calmly with a smile as she stood up.

"Hmm, may I have a seat?" asked Dians with a smile as Natasha subtly narrowed her eyes at him.

"Depends, how long do you plan to stay Agent?" asked Natasha as Dians just smiled.

"Not long because as I can see you are busy, and I am very busy as well, I just don't think that the conversation we are about to have should be had while standing" said Dians.

"Then in that case, have a seat" gestured Natasha with a stiff smile.

"Thank you" replied Dians with a smile as he sat down across Natasha's desk and she sat back down at her desk, she closed her laptop and moved some files out of the way as she focused on Dians, she was curious and worried as to what exactly he wanted to discuss with her.

"What a nice place you have here, I didn't know that you were also a business woman" said Dians with a smile as he looked around.

"I did study a degree in it, so I guess it makes me one" replied Natasha stiffly with an obviously fake smile on her face that Dians seemed to ignore.

"Ahh I see, you are a woman of many talents aren't you?" asked Dians while smiling.

"I don't take well to flattery Agent Dians, would you please tell me how you found me here, how did you even know where my office is?" asked Natasha as she didn't trust him at all, and she could see that he did not trust her either, which was good, the feeling was mutual.

"Well I may have pulled in some strings to find out more information about you, the same way you did with me" replied Dians as Natasha frowned, Pete would never tell Dians where she worked, she knew he wouldn't which meant that Dians was referring to other sources.

"Well that's nice, let's stop beating around the bush Agent, what do you want? I am actually very busy right now, and I am sure that you are the same" said Natasha as the fake pleasantries were making her feel even more worried, this man was not one to play around, which was why when he was now playing around she could not help but feel very uneasy.

"You are right Natasha, let's cut to the chase" said Dians as he leaned forward in his seat.

"I wanted to inform you that the criminal Romanoff has been trialed and convicted of his crimes and he has been sentenced" said Dians as Natasha heaved a sigh of relief internally, but her relief was short lived after Dians uttered his next works.

"But of course you already knew that didn't you?" asked Dians seriously as Natasha froze momentarily as she looked at him.

"What do you mean I knew?" asked Natasha as she feigned ignorance, she was prepared to act as if she knew nothing at all.

"You really are a good actor Natasha, you should consider going into film" said Dians as he laughed and Natasha's expression remained unchanging.

"Agent Dians, did you come all the way here to accuse me with baseless accusations?" asked Natasha.

"Not at all Natasha, you know the truth and I know the truth, I'm not on official duty here, you can tell me the truth" said Dians as he smiled.

"Agent, I really do not know what you expect of me?" asked Natasha.

"You knew that Romanoff was already sentenced, which is why you rushed to see him this morning as the prison" said Dians as Natasha's pupils dilated from his statement.

"You wonder how I know? well I have my contacts everywhere, and I may or may not have asked them to keep an eye on anyone who comes to visit the prisoner" said Dians.

"There is not question of how you got clearance to see the prisoner well because you have high connections with Lawson, and I don't know what sort of deal you have that he lets you commit offences that are close to criminal" said Dians.

"But of course, it is under his jurisdiction to be able to pull such heavy strings" said Dians.

"I am not even worried about that, I know Lawson very well, and he is an abider of the rules, you must mean a lot to him if he is willing to bend those rules slightly for you" said Dians as Natasha remained quiet, she just let him speak so she could gather some information to formulate a reasonable response.

"He even bent the rules to let you see him while he was still in police custody, did you really think that I would not be aware of someone coming to visit a criminal under my care?" asked Dians as he watched Natasha's expression closely.

"The only unanswered question I have on my mind is why?" asked Dians as he hummed to himself.

"Why go through all that trouble? why almost compromise your stance of innocence because of him?" asked Dians as he seemed to be thinking to himself while Natasha remained completely silent with a blank expression on her face as she listened.

"It makes no sense considering your stance of hating the organization for killing your mother unless..." said Dians as he dramatically paused and Natasha could feel her heart sinking as his pause.

"Unless... the criminal is someone close to you, someone you truly care about" said Dians.

"But that would make no sense, why would you put someone you care about in danger by giving me information about him?" asked Dians as he seemed to be piecing all the pieces of the puzzle together.

"But that's the thing... it wasn't Romanoff that was supposed to be in charge of that operation, it was the criminal Igor, the one whom you really had a vendetta against, Romanoff was just in the wrong place at the wrong time" said Dians.

"The person you wanted me to catch was Igor and not Romanoff no wonder you had that fallen look on your face when I caught him in the cargo ship, you were wondering how your plan could have backfired so terribly to the extent that the true criminal you wanted revenge against was free to roam about, and the person you cared for was caught instead" said Dians.

"It makes me curious as to what relationship you have with Romanoff, you have to be close, maybe distant cousins? No grandfather? No uncle" said Dians as the look of slight acknowledgement on Natasha's face gave him his answer.

"That's it, he's your uncle, probably your mother's brother" said Dians as he smiled, if anything he had a knack for reading people, it was one of his best skills.

"Not by blood, but yes, he considers himself my uncle" replied Natasha after heavy moments of silence, there was no need being quiet now, Dians had already figured it out, she wanted to make sure that he had the right facts though.

"I was close either way" said Dians.

"Well you figured it out, you really are skilled Agent" replied Natasha with a smile.

"I knew that there was some sort of connection somewhere, but I could not put my finger on it, that was until I asked your husband of his knowledge of the case and he was unable to give me a definite answer" said Dians.

"Right..." replied Natasha.

"I only have one last question... why give me the files of all agents, including Romanoff?" asked Natasha.

"I told you that I am no traitor, all the information I gave you is legit and worth a lot, why implicate myself by removing the file of the most dangerous agent just because I know him?" asked Natasha.

"Hmm you talk as if you don't really like him" said Dians.

"Maybe I do, maybe I don't Agent, so what do you want? Are you going to arrest me now or what?" asked Natasha.

"Whatever for Natasha? I have nothing against you? You didn't commit any crimes that I know of, and if anything you got me what you promised me" said Dians with a smile as Natasha could finally breathe in relief.

"Hard to believe with a justice oriented man like you" said Natasha.

"I only put the bad guys in prison, not the innocent bystanders" said Dians.

"Well good to know, for the record, I never lied to you about anything, it is what you asked that I gave you an answer to" said Natasha.

"True" said Dians.

"So what do you plan to do after this? I mean you might be in danger you leaked out the entire organization's information" said Dians.

"I will be fine, they will never be able to trace it to me, the leak itself came from Romanoff's laptop, all I did was copy the information into my usb" said Natasha.

"You really are smooth Natasha" replied Dians as he smiled.

"Is that a genuine compliment or not?" asked Natasha.

"Depends on how you want to look at it" replied Dians.

"Hmm, well Agent, I have one more favour to ask from you" said Natasha.

"Which is?" asked Dians.

"Igor the actual true criminal in my opinion, is still out there, roaming free, meanwhile he escaped fate, if there's a Russian criminal you should keep an eye on, it would be him" said Natasha as Dians laughed.

"With all the information you gave us, he hasn't escaped fate, only prolonged it, I assure you that he will be brought to justice soon, you on the other hand should stay out of trouble, I don't want to have to lock you up as well" said Dians as he smiled.

"That would never happen Agent" replied Natasha with a smile as Dians stood up and Natasha did the same.

"Well nice doing business with you Natasha" said Dians as he stretched out his hand for a handshake and Natasha hesitantly shook his hand.

"I can't genuinely say the same Agent" replied Natasha.

"Hopefully we won't meet again on bad terms" said Dians.

"Oh we definitely will not" replied Natasha as Dians broke their handshake as he turned around and left her office, leaving Natasha to sigh in relief as she sat back down on her chair.

She was done with all this, law, crime, justice, espionage and order nonsense, she needed a break from it all.
