Dom eyed the board cautiously. It was very crucial at this point in time that he needed a viable place to add his second to last tile.
The more he looked at the organized chaos in from of him, the more he realized that it was starting to look near impossible for him to make a meaningful, acceptable word from the letters he had.
It was then that he remembered the aim of the game. The whole point of the game was not to empty all the tiles in the sack and on your rack. The main point of the game was to make as many meaningful words as possible while scoring the highest points available.
Dom glanced at Natasha's tile rack, he could see that she only had two letters left. Michael and Charlie had two letters left. Lulu had one letter left and Nine had one letter left.
He had two, they were the letters A and D. He could not find anywhere good to fit them. If he just tried to add any of his letters to an existing word. Michael, Charlie and Lulu would all contest it and he would lose his turn as he had been since the entirety of the game.
Then it was when he got a good idea, the exact same idea he shrugged off just moments ago.
"There." Dom said proudly as he played his letter D in front of the letter chain, making the word dchain.
"Dchain??!" Lulu, Michael and Charlie cried out in shock.
"Yes, dchain." Dom smiled.
"Dchain is not a word!!!" Lulu shouted as she got up hastily, she almost destroyed the board as she did so.
"Hey, hey, be careful Lulu, you were so close to destroying the board." Charlie got up and hovered himself over the board as if he was going to protect the board.
"Be careful, Lulu, I agree, you might wake Joy up, lower your voice." Natasha said.
"Sorry." Lulu whispered and smiled sheepishly.
"It's fine Lulu." Natasha said.
"Hey, I do not rest my case though, we all know that dchain is not a real word!!!" Lulu exclaimed.
"If you're so sure then, contest." Dom said taunting her.
"I am going to contest, I will contest, who is with me?!" Lulu asked.
"Me too, I am going to contest." Michael said.
"I agree too." Charlie said.
"Lovely, clearly dchain isn't a word." Lulu said.
"Are you sure? Make sure to check the dictionary first." Dom said, Lulu shook her head, she wondered if he was sane? Everyone knew that this word did not exist.
Lulu groaned in anger, she stormed to get the dictionary, she opened it and dropped it on Dom's head.
"There is no dchain in the dictionary, boom! You loose your turn." Lulu said.
"Alright." Dom said in such a relaxed manner that he made Lulu irritated.
"You did that on purpose, you wanted to lose your turn!" She accused him as he removed his tile from the board.
"Yep." He simply replied.
"That is not fair, that is against the rules." She fussed.
"Guys, isn't that against the rules?" Lulu turned to everyone else.
"Nope, I don't think so, it's not a written rule per se." Natasha said.
"Nine." Lulu turned to Nine, she could see that everyone one else was siding with Dom, the only person that she trusted was Nine, second was Natasha. She was sure that they would not lie to her and side with Dom just because they liked him.
"It's not against the rules to want to lose your turn, and if he did so by making you contest his word, then it's not cheating." Nine said clearly.
"You see." Dom smiled at him.
"Whatever." Lulu scoffed as she sat down and crossed her legs, she was fuming. Dom was being unfair as always, why couldn't he just let her win? No, he wanted to win.
"I'm skipping my turn again." Nine said as no one argued with him. None of them felt like tackling the impossible maze which was the board in front of them.
Each of them kept on skipping their turns until finally Lulu was fed up.
"Are we really going to continue doing things like this?!" She asked rising to her feet.
"Well yeah, we can't play any words." Michael said.
"My brain is tired." Charlie groaned.
"This is becoming a waste of time." Dom had to admit.
"I agree, this is tiring, someone should just give up already." Natasha said, she too was exhausted.
"You're right, someone should give up and it won't be me." Lulu said proudly, she wanted to win, there was no way she would allow herself to lose.
"No, if anyone's quitting, it should be Dom." Charlie said.
"Hey? What did I do? Why are you suddenly attacking me?" he chuckled.
It was then that a loud argument broke out between them. Charlie was naming reasons why Dom should quit while Dom was countering with reasons he shouldn't quit, Michael tried to stop their argument while Nine and Natasha just listened, they had a feeling that things were about to end badly, whenever any of them started to argue like this, it was a sure sign.
"You know what, if none of us can agree on who should quit, it's best that we just end this stupid game." As soon as Lulu said that, she did not bat an eye, she flipped the board over all the tiles and letters went flying around.
"Lulu!" Natasha, Dom, Charlie, Michael and even Nine called out in surprise as they saw three hours of work ruined in an instant.
"Why would you do that?" Charlie shouted in grief, he looked at the destroyed board.
"If no one wanted to quit, then I will quit for them." Lulu said, she did not even sound remorseful at all.
"Lulu, seriously, I thought you had grown out of ruining our games when you don't win." Dom said shaking his head, he should have known that this would happen. However, he had thought that Lulu was older now and she would know better.
"Hey, it's not my fault, no one wanted to quit, so I did it for the sake of all our sanity." Lulu insisted.
"No, no, you are just being annoying honestly, you are." Michael shook his head.
"You literally ruined three hours of hard work, how could you crash out like that?" Charlie looked scared, as well as on the verge of tears.
"Can you all relax? I'm the one that organized this whole thing anyway, I can say when it's time to end it." Lulu said.
"Well if you thought that if you ruined the game the scores won't count, you're wrong, the scores still count." Nine said as Lulu frowned.
"Natasha's the winner, followed by me, then Dom, then you, Charlie and Michael are last." Nine said swiftly then he scrunched up the paper he had been using to keep track of the points and he threw it away.
"Awww." Charlie and Nine said.
"I win." Natasha smiled and chuckled.
"At least I'm not third." Dom laughed, he knew what exactly would annoy Lulu.
"Hey, at least I'm not last, whatever, let's watch a movie." Lulu said packing up the game.
"There's no way I'm watching anything with you, not after what you just did." Charlie frowned.
"Hey, suit yourself, I really don't care." Lulu said as she sat down and switched on the tv.
"I'm going to make some hot chocolate, anyone what some?" Natasha asked as she got up, all this thinking of words and drama had made her begin to crave for chocolate.
"Mhmmm, now that you said hot chocolate, I might just stay." Charlie said, his deamanour changed instantly.
"Of course, why am I not surprised, when it comes to food you'll stay here." Nine said shaking his head.
"Oh be quiet there Nine, you know you want some too." Charlie scoffed.
"Natasha dear, please make me some hot chocolate and remember to add extra sugar and marshmallows in mine." He said.
"Well I don't have marshmallows, but sugar, sure." Natasha laughed.
"Please make some for me as well." Michael said.
"Me too." Nine said.
"You know that I want some of course." Lulu said while as she was picking out a movie.
"Alright, alright." Natasha said.
"I'll come along to help." Dom said, he stood up and followed after Natasha.
"Is it me or is Dom being extra with Natasha lately." Lulu said as soon as they were out of earshot.
"Mhmm." Nine, Charlie and Michael said at the same time.
"I think he's just trying to keep the peace." Charlie said.
"Well he's trying a bit too hard, if I was Natasha I would definitely be annoyed." Lulu said. "I would even push him far away." Lulu said.
"Hey, whose side are you on? Don't you want them to get back together?" Michael asked worriedly.
"You know, it depends." Lulu said shrugging.
"Depends on what? Really, whose side are you on?" Michael asked shocked.
