"How dare you?" Elizabeth rose and took a step forward to strike her palm on Lili's cheek. However, Robert stopped her and smiled at Lili. "We have prepared dinner for you. Why don't you guys stay here tonight?"
It was already half past ten, and Lili had no energy to travel back through the jungle in the wedding dress. But what in her life can she decide? She looked at Nik, who got up, buttoned his suit and uttered 'YES!'
Lili's brows pinched to see Nik talk as if speaking to a client. 'Does he need to be this dramatic at home?'
The girl, whose name she hasn't asked, guided her to dining hall again. All the way, Lili's childish heart was dancing to have some delicious royal food. With a slight break to her anxiety, she asked the cheerful girl's name out of courtesy.
"Emily!" the stepsister responded, which Lili found so cute and apt.
After walking for two minutes, they finally arrived at a room which had the lengthiest table she had ever seen. It was about half a mile long, with chairs on both sides. 'Is this even necessary?' will be the first question anyone would get, and Lili, too, felt the same. Who would want to come to such a deserted place for dining?
Emily made her sit on the second chair from the magnificent royal chair, placed on the table's breadth. While she sat straight opposite to her. Lili's eyes were fixed on the door, waiting for the rest to appear. Why aren't they coming?
"Where are they?" she blurted out to the only person in the enormous room.
Emily shrugged her shoulders and stretched out her bottom lip.
Lili's shoulders dropped, helplessly she crossed her ankles and glanced at the room. Just like the hall, the dining room also had gigantic chandeliers, beige walls, and beautiful furniture.
"Finally, the guest arrived!" A guy in a white shirt and blue jeans walked into the room with eyes dazing over Lili. He looked just opposite his sister, with father's raven hair and mother's deep brown eyes. "How did you like Nik? I mean, what do you like about him?"
As soon as he said those words, Emily pinched his elder brother in age and younger in maturity. "What are you doing?" he growled back at his sister.
He is even opposite in personality, Lili thought to herself and smiled awkwardly at the siblings.
"I am sure she doesn't know about him. Why would she marry if she knew about him? I don't want another girl's death in this house because of that f**king idiot." he stated and sat beside his sister.
"What are you doing?" Lili could hear Emily's whisper to her angry brother. Her heart was beating so loud that she could hear it clearly. His appearance and rage didn't look like he was falsely framing Niklaus. Whom did he kill? Am I the next one to die in his magnificent house in the deserted place?
Her forehead glittered with sweat, and her palms turned wet with fear. She recalled how Beau hit the waiter until he bled, which made her more tense. Her heart and pulse were racing as if both were in fierce and close competition.
Emily, who noticed her, ran at once with a glass of water. "He was just joking! He is playing a prank on you. Calm down!" she uttered, shaking Lili, and trying to get her to drink some water. But Lili wasn't in a situation where she could hear Emily's words. The hunger and the shock were making her lose consciousness.
"Justin, what have you done? Dad and Nik Bro will be here any minute. I don't think we can control Niklaus' anger this time. Do something?" Emily cried.
"I have just told the truth. What can I do if she can't handle it?" he hissed to see the drama going on. "Fine! Don't cry! Let her faint! Will tell that she fainted while sitting, probably because of hunger."
"What if she tells the things, you told her to Niklaus?"
"Any person who has brain wouldn't do that! However, you tell her it's a prank for safety." Justin assured his sister.
After a few seconds, Lili fell over the table. Emily immediately splashed water on her face. There wasn't any movement which frightened the siblings much more. Justin took the glass and splashed the water with force. Finally, they could see some reaction, he called out to the staff and ordered them to bring some juice.
As Lili opened her eyes, Emily told her it was a prank and gave her the remaining water. Even with that weakness, Lili glared at the stupid person before her.
"What happened?" Emily heard Niklaus' voice and wished that Lili wouldn't tell the truth.
"Bro, she..." Emily started, but Nik scowled at her, indicating her to shut her mouth.
"Are you okay?" he asked, holding Lili's wet face.
Lili gave a slight nod and just at that moment, a guy wearing white clothes and a chef hat came to Justin. "Bro, she fainted, so we ordered a fruit juice so that she took gain strength."
Emily, too, spoke to defend her brother. "She was hungry, but you weren't coming." She muttered with her head down.
While the situation was still hot, Robert entered the room to see Lili's wet and pale face. His eyes widened at Justin. "What happened? What did you do?" The siblings' legs turned weak to see their father roar. Justin squished his fist to see his father insult his own son for a weak outsider.
Nik fetched the juice glass and helped her to drink it. He smiled to see Lili gulp hastily. "Do you want to sleep for a while?"
'No! I want to eat!' She was damn hungry and now that everyone had come for dinner, she didn't want to sleep. "It's fine! It's our first dinner with your family." she said in a poised manner. However, her stomach didn't want to leave her with dignity- 'Urgh! Burgh!' Lili closed her eyes with utter disappointment. She didn't want to open her eyes and face Niklaus.
