Samsara is dumbfounded by the response the fuckboy just gave her.
Obviously she was not going to have two knights duel in the middle of their new house. It doesn't matter how skinny or stupid they looked doing it, any sort of elemental fight would turn this basement into crumbles.
She looks over at Martyr who also got out of his chair and was ready to pounce of the kids at any moment.
Vitalis seemed to have some sort of affect over the suburb girl as Vanagloria seemed confused, looking back and fourth from him and the fight.
"So how do you wanna fight this time shrimp?" Bartholomew says, hunched over with his hands out in a wrestling stance.
"To the death…"
"NOOOOO!" Samsara yells, sprinting over for her life.
"Don't frick with me!" Belmont says as he creates a small beam of lightning in his hand.
"I have the power of god and…"
"Oh my god stop what the fuck are you doing!" Samsara says as she runs up and grabs the arm of Belmont.
"How are either of you knights!"
"My dad basically just accepts anyone who has lightning powers as his knight. Now let him go, dont tell me your actually gonna stop this." Vitalis says, still acting like the pretty little brat that he is.
He was motioning her to move with one hand and the other a phone.
"Oh so you're a rich brat. That checks out. No wonder you look like you came straight out of a middle school girls tik tok feed." Samsara said, eyeing the device.
"Shut the fuck up. Your poor ass prolly can't even afford to go to earth to use tik tok."
"What'd you just say?" Martyr leaned up, his whole attitude changing.
Spectre jumped down, skipping the rest of the stairs. "Yeah, that better have been a joke kid."
"Or what? Are you pussies gonna fight me?"
Martyr practically lunges over to Vitalis's chair. Scaring the hell out of Vanagloria next to him.
Samsara joins him along with Spectre to surround him.
Vitalis continues to sit for a second only to get up at his own pace.
"Oh you're for real?" Vitalis breaks the silence after glaring at them all one by one.
"You really shouldn't be messing with the number one air knight. I could fold all you pussies, easy." He was looking around at them, grinning like he was invincible.
Samsara immediately regrets getting near him. She really did not think to consider how powerful this kid could be.
"A lot of talk for somebody who only got there just cause of his daddy."
Martyr had fire in his eyes as he stared Vitalis down. Literal flames igniting out of his sockets, swirling up to his seemingly fire-proof eyebrows.
Samsara had seen him angry like this before, but only in the controlled setting of school duels where he was held back by the safety rules. She had no idea what he could do in a true fight, not ruled by points or score. But purely off who would be knocked into unconsciousness first.
The thought of the battle right here in the middle of this secluded room scared Samsara.
Vitalis turned around at Martyr's comment to match his glare.
In the silence of the room, Samsara could sense the deadly tension in the air between the two elemental powerhouses.
Spectre creeped his way over to her, small smoke coming out of his back forming an almost completely transparent wall of darkness in front of them.
Vanagloria on the other side of the table had sparks dancing all around her arms. Her face looked dead serious right now. She wasn't taking her eyes off the staredown, ready to pounce any second. Blair was moving behind Vanagloria, her purple eyes glowing a faint white light.
The moment seemed to last forever, only to end by Vitalas letting out a condescending cough of a laugh in Martyr's face.
'BOOOOOM'
Vitalis bolts himself out of the circle and onto the stairs in the blink of an eye.
"I wouldn't start anything with me if I were you." He tells Martyr as he walks up the stairs.
Just about everybody had jumped at the sudden thunder, but Martyr didn't even flinch. He was still glaring at Vitalis like he was seconds away from tearing him in half.
"How are ya gonna get the cute little earth girl into my squad of knights if he finds out she was with a team that tried to fight me?"
Vitalis disappeared upstairs, followed by silence in the room until they heard the front door slam.
"Martyr! Why would you say that!" Samsara yelled at him.
"What are you talking about? I got the little bitch to run away." Martyr said with a cocky smile. "He knew he couldn't mess with us."
"Ugh." Samsara groaned, that was gonna go to his head.
He did have a point though. Vitalis being the number one knight might not mean as much because of his dad.
Martyr had actually fought knights in friendly spares before and won. So maybe he could've won that, but it still didn't mean Samsara wanted to be in the same room as them.
"That guy is the number one knight?" Vanagloria said. She was standing up as well now. Although she looked completely shocked.
"I don't think he's actually as big of a threat as he makes himself out to be."
"No, he's the strongest of us. Like, by a lot. He could probably give one of the weaker champions like Vega or Thanatos a run for their money." Bartholomew was completely sincere now.
"He's the most likely to become champion in the future."
The room falls silent for a moment.
"What were you guys even here for again?" Martyr said, sitting back down next to Vanagloria.
"Styrmir wants to set up a time for you to visit Asgard to train. Just come on Tuesday, it's the best for us." Bartholomew responded.
"Let us depart then." Belmont said, dusting off his armor as he started walking up the stairs.
"I could've won that fight." Bartholomew grumbled as he followed him, rubbing his head.
"No. I am ranked number fourteen. It is simply factual that I would've won."
"No I'm number 14."
"No. I asked Styrmir before we left. You are the lowest ranked."
The argument between them continues, getting quieter and quieter as they make their way up the stairs.
"Poor Gloria." Samsara thought. She was gonna have to deal with those guys some day. And she still felt terrible for the things Spectre said to her earlier, she really didn't deserve any of the crap he gave her.
Although Samsara did scold him a ton before he got in the shower. Hopefully he will apologize later.
Samsara noticed that Martyr was doing a good job at keeping her happy.
Samsara trusted Martyr with this kind of stuff, despite her teasing he was actually surprisingly good with girls. At least compared to how he was when she first met him.
Really the only problem now is that he is attracted to the wrong type of girl. The type that takes advantage of him.
Vanagloria didn't seem like that type of girl though. In fact Samsara wanted to see how they would be as a pair. Samsara kinda figured Vanagloria liked Martyr because she noticed Vanagloria staring at him a few times last night. she just wasn't sure if Martyr was interested or not.
Because the person he seemed more interested in…
"Blair, do you wanna go to Vaudeville now?" Samsara asked her.
"Oh uh…" Samsara notices Blair glancing over at Vanagloria and Martyr before she gets up. "Yeah I guess we should go before our trail starts."
"Dont forget gas for the truck. Also my keys are in the front pocket of my backpack!" Martyr shouts as Samsara starts to go up the stairs behind Blair.
"Yup, you got it."
Her attempt to get them alone together worked surprisingly well. Blair was extremely more complacent than she thought she was gonna be. In fact Blair didn't seem to be worried at all with them being alone. It almost seemed like she was entirely disinterested with Martyr.
"Poor Martyr." Samsara thinks to herself as they finish getting up the stairs. He obviously hadn't fallen for Blair or anything yet, but Samsara could definitely see that happening with Blair's looks. For a poor orphan girl she was extremely pretty.
"How did Martyr find this girl?" Samsara thought.
Samsara still couldn't get over how familiar she looked. She definitely had never seen Blair before… or maybe she did? It was so strange, looking at her for long amounts of time gave Samsara a really weird deja vu feeling.
"I'll get the disguises. Can you get the money?" Blair says as she carefully walks over to her and Vanagloria's bag, trying not to wake up Spectre who must have passed out after getting out of the shower.
"Uh yeah I'll get it."
Thankfully, they had swiped some of Vulcan's money at the inn. But unfortunately all they had was that small pouch of gold coins. Which was still more money than Samsara had ever had, but probably not enough to provide for five people in these coming weeks.
Samsara snatches up the disguise bag, the money pouch, keys from Martyrs backpack and carefully runs over to Spectre to kiss his forehead before they go.
"You guys are cute." Blair says, holding the door for Samsara as she puts on her straight jacket. The outside is finally bright, the light crystal mimicking the daylight coming out of the waterfall.
"I know." Samsara says with a big smile as she walks past towards the truck.
"How long have you guys been together?"
"We're gonna hit four years in two months. We've been together since we were sophomores in highschool." Samsara said proudly. "I remember in freshman year he was just a really shrimpy guy that hung out in some of the same friend groups as me. And then I remember he had a glow up in that summer and I chased him around for that first half of sophomore year and got him to ask me out at a festival."
"Oh wow that's really impressive."
Samsara looks over at her, getting into the front seat. "Do you have somebody?"
"Nope. I've been single for a hot minute. Plus I don't even think I've had a relationship that's lasted a whole year yet." Blair says as she starts to put on her disguise in shotgun, starting with sunglasses.
"What do you mean you don't think? How many relationships have you been in?"
Blair hesitates for a second. "Five guys and two girls if I'm counting right."
"Holy shit!" Samsara would've guessed at most three when she first saw her but seven was a lot to comprehend. "Blair I know like two other people with that many exes."
"I mean a lot of them were only like a few weeks or like in middle school." Blair defended herself, with a smile she was trying to hold back.
"Oh ok, I mean I don't even count relationships like that. Then what's it when you only count like serious relationships." Samsara said, starting to move the truck towards the waterfall.
"Probably just one guy and the two girls."
"Two girls still?" Samsara said, surprised as Blair put on a fully pink wig followed by a black top hat.
"Yeah I've always liked girls more. I just didn't really find out until I really started getting serious with one of my boy relationships. And that was years ago, I've only dated a guy once sense then."
"Why don't you date more girls then."
"I would but it's so much harder to find lesbains to date!" Blair said frusterated, as Samsara drove out into the forest.
"Hey, maybe we can find some. I mean, you're famous now, everybody is an option now."
"I sure hope so. That was one of my big reasons to do this, I just wanna find somebody." Blair was looking out the window, like she would come across some girl down there.
"What about Vanagloria?"
"No no no no, I couldn't. Ugh don't put that in my head." The thought seemed to make Blair extremely uncomfortable. "Dude Gloria is like my sister, that would be so unbelievably weird. Plus she's mostly straight, she's a little bycurious or like… transcurious… is that even a term?"
"I don't fuggin know. You're the gay one."
"True, I should know this."
"Oh wait, hey, there it is." Samsara noticed the town up ahead.
They had made it out of the forest and were now driving on a meadow of grass. The town was out in the distance, now fully active and lush with people.
"Oh hey! it's the sign we almost ran over." Blair pointed as they made it to the road.
"Great, we can finally find out the name of this place." Blair says as Samsara parks the car.
The shaky wooden pole has four different signs onto it, all pointing in seperate directions.
In powdery white chalk the tallest sign reads out "Vaudeville" pointing down the road towards the town.
The second sign reads "Mt. Lineland Road" and points towards a road leading to Vanahiem which continues on into the desert-like region for what looks like miles and miles. It hugs a massive sandstone mountain that Samsara assumes is Mt. Lineland.
"Cedar forest" is what the 3rd sign reads, pointing at the forest from which they came.
Finally the lowest sign points behind them at the road that leads to a dead end, stopped by roadblocks.
"Wildlands" the sign reads in blood red chalk as a warning.
Past the roadblocks, the elemental regions clash and become more and more lush in elemental personality. The forest grows bigger and more lush while the desert leaking into the forest becomes more barren and starts to have skeletons show themselves half buried in the sand.
"So that's Vaudeville." Blair says, interrupting Samsara from staring at the intimidating looking biomes. "Pretty cool name dontcha think."
"Yeah I guess. I don't really know what it means but I guess it sounds cool" Samsara starts up the car again, driving over to Vaudeville.
"Samsara?"
She looks over to Blair who was looking over at her holding back a smile.
"Yes?"
"After all that talk about relationships and stuff I was kind of curious about something."
"Yeah?"
"Is Martyr single?"
Samsara grins.
She could just barely see Blair's scheming purple eyes underneath her shades which told her everything.
"You wanna get the two of them together as well."
"Hell yeah I do!"
They start laughing in unison in the glee that they found someone else who saw the potential relationship.
"Bitch I've been trying to get Vanagloria alone with him this whole time!" Blair says after a very energetic high five.
"Martyr desperately needs someone right now and I think Vanagloria could be a really good match for him." Samsara fixes her hat, pushing it back up.
"Oh my god Sam, I've been trying to get Vanagloria with guys for years. She has had such bad luck with guys, her ex boyfriends were so awful to her. She even got cheated on."
"Are you serious?"
"Yeah, they were very long stories, but to sum it up one was manipulative and horrible, the other was a bitch and didn't initiate anything and the other one was just okay. And she didn't get far with any of them. The farthest she's gotten is a half assed kiss."
"That is horrible, oh my god… Okay so we are definitely getting her with Martyr. That guy is going to give her all of the love and affection he has." Samsara took her hands off the wheel for a second to put on more of her disguise.
"Yes please, and if he does ANYTHING to Gloria. He's dead to me."
"No, I don't blame you. If he screws this up I WILL kill him." Samsara said, making Blair laugh even harder than she was before.
Samsara herself can't help but laugh by how happy she is right now.
"Blair, think of all the power we have together. Think of all the different things we can do to set them up."
"I am so down for that. I already have ideas." Blair has the biggest smile on her face.
"Oh my god we can get stuff right now in Vaudeville. Ok hear me out…"
And thus,
The two girls scheme with one another down the lonely desert road,
Known to them or not, the most diabolical duo of Cupid's had just been formed.
