The search

It was difficult and irritating moving through the bushes this early in the morning, but Ethan did not mind one bit. All that was on his mind was how to find Chloe alive and then kick that bastard Lucas in the balls. What he did mind, however, was Madison’s incessant complaints.

“Eeew. These grasses are so wet. It’s disgusting.” She complained, picking her way through the bushes as daintily as though she were made of salt and a little wetness will cause her to melt away. “The things we do for love… You’re doing this because you love Chloe and I’m doing it because I love you.” She finished, sighing dramatically.

Ethan ignored her last statement. “I asked you not to come, but you wanted to. I could have done this with the men.”

“Oh, please, and miss putting a bullet in Lucas’s legs? No, I think not.”
