Chapter 9

I shuffled towards him on the couch and crossed my legs. He laughed, but didn’t say anything about my lack of confidence.

I was surprised when he mirrored my actions instead of doing god knows what. He crossed his legs.

I moved again, but this time our knees were touching. I plaid with the freakishly long sleeves of his green jumper. He took me by surprise when he gripped into my legs and untangled them. He then pulled me towards him -just like he did in the closet the other night- so that I was once again hugging him with my legs.

Our crotches were almost touching and my heart was already in my neck.

It was my turn, and I choose to place my palms on his shoulders.

He was watching me curiously, his dark blue orbs daring. He leaned in, so that his nose was just a few inches from mine. I felt his alcohol breath on my lips and thanked god that I accepted that mint from Kaylee earlier.

He was waiting for me to do a move. I closed the gap between us (I was going to show him that I wasn’t a coward), with the intention of kissing him, but I changed my mind in the last second so my lips landed on his cheek (more like the corner of his mouth).

My lips lingered on his cheek for a few seconds. I waited for him to laugh at my totally virgin move, but his lips came in contact with my cheek.

I closed my eyes when I felt them move down, to my neck. He ran his tongue across the sensitive skin and I bit my lip, squinting my eyes shut.

His aftershave was driving me crazy. His chin rested on my shoulder, and I knew he was waiting for my next move.

My hands fell down from his shoulders to his skinny waist.

I almost squeaked when I felt him cup my bum and suddenly leaning down. He was now fully on his back, and I slipped on the base of his stomach. He didn’t seem to be bothered by my weight.

My hands slipped under his shirt against my will.

His left hand moved from my back to my front and his fingers lightly touched my crotch. I was slowly starting to crack. It was too much for me. I was scared.

I moved back which caused him to moan a low ‘fuck’. His whole palm cupped me between my legs and I shot up instantly, almost trip-ping over my own feet.

"You pig!” I yelled, totally infuriated.

When I saw that his expression changed to a dark one, I turned around and made a run towards the door.

I almost yelled when I saw it was locked. I heard his footsteps co-ming towards me so I immediately ran towards the door that led to the kitchen.

A dark laugh was heard behind me and I turned around to see him in the doorframe. Amazing. The only escape I had was through the backdoor, but that was probably locked too.

He came towards me and I circled the island counter. I tried the backdoor but it was locked-shocker.

I watched him, on the other side of the counter. He found it very amusing, judging by the smirk on his face. I wanted to slap it right off his face.

He took a sudden step to his right, which made me jump and step to the right. He laughed again and I turned red because of anger.

He leaned his elbows on the counter and batted his eyelashes, ob-viously enjoying my desperate state. I eyed his keys on the hanger by the door, and immediately knew what I had to do.

I pretended to walk to my left and he stood up straight, coming towards me. I quickly changed my direction and ran to the door, rip-ped the keys off the hanger and continued my way to the front door.

I fumbled with the keys and almost screamed of joy when the first key I tried fit into the lock. I twisted my wrist and unlocked the door. I swung it open and didn’t give a fuck that it was raining and still no one was home.

I didn’t even get to take a step, because I was yanked back by my shirt and pulled into the house.

The door was slammed shut and I was pinned against it, my cheek freezing against the cold wood.

I felt his breath on the back of my head. His lips were now taped to my ear and opened:

"Chicken.” he chuckled and I wiggled away from him. He didn’t react in any way, letting me get away from him. I tucked my hair behind my ear and huffed, crossing my arms over my chest. My heart was still beating fast, but somehow I wasn’t scared of him anymore.

"Why are you so scared?” he asked smirking, coming towards me.

I took a step back.

"I’m not scared of you, god.” I said. Now I was scared. But what could he do to me?

"You sure? You’re shaking."

"S’from the cold.” I mumbled and took yet another step back.

"What did you think I was going to do to you?” he asked.

"Don’t want to give you any ideas…” I whispered under my breath.

"What was that?” he asked but the door opening and Mrs. Harris stepping into the house interrupted us. She said something about the heavy rain to herself, before her eyes landed on us.

She wasn’t that surprised to see me, probably because Nate always had girls over.

"Oh, Renee! Hi!"

"Hello Mrs. Harris."

Nate scratched his head, not even greeting his mom. How rude of him. Her eyes drifted to my clothing, and I realized how it must’ve looked, me wearing his clothes and all.

"Uh…I had no key and my grandparents were gone…so…I came here.” I said stepping towards her and away from Nate.

"Oh, that’s okay dear."

"Are they home now?"

"Yes darling."

"Thank you."

"I thought you threw away the shirt I knitted you.” Mrs. Harris said, now looking at Nate.

He shrugged. “Whatever. Did you buy some food? I hope you’re not cooking. Are you?”

God, he was such a douchebag to his mother, I was sorry for her. Her eyes saddened and she nodded.

"I’ll order pizza then. You can stay if you want."

Her last sentence was directed towards me but I shook my head.

"Oh no, thank you, but I don’t want my grandma worrying."

"Sure honey."

She smiled, then went into the kitchen. I walked to the door and Nate opened it for me. I stepped outside but then turned around, ma-king him stop in the mid-action of closing the door.

"Should I wash these?” I asked and pulled at the end of the sweatshirt.

He shrugged. “Keep it. I was going to throw it out anyway.”

"You should be more kind to your mother."

"Yeah yeah whatever."

Then he closed the door right in my face.

How nice.

It wasn’t until I got home that I noticed that I forgot my clothes at Nate’s, but I was going to get them the next day.

***

The next day didn’t come, because I found myself two days later, up in my bedroom, on Tumblr. I hadn’t seen Nate since that day.

It was past 8pm, and I knew Katherine had plans with Jade, be-cause she invited me out too, to go with them at god knows which club. Honestly, no thank you.

"RENEEEEE!” my grandma’s voice was heard from downstairs.

"WHAAAT?” I yelled.

"COME DOWN FOR CHRIST’S SAKE I’M NOT YELLING TO HEAR THE SOUD OF YOUR NAME!"

I rolled my eyes and snapped my laptop shut.

"What?” I asked from the top of the stairs.

"I have a grocery list for you."

"But it’s late grandma.” I said.

"Don’t make me call your mother."

"UGH, fine."

I changed into jeans and walked down, to see my grandma watching the lottery. Of course.

"I also left some money for the bus."

I rolled my eyes and grabbed the list before exiting the house. The air was cold and I knew it was going to rain again.

I walked to the bus station and looked at the timetable, then at the clock. This was ridiculous.

"Fuck!” I yelled when I saw that I just missed the bus. I had to wait another 30 minutes. Amazing.

"That’s a lovely vocabulary."

I turned around and saw Nate coming towards me, a cigarette between his fingers. His piercings were back.

"Go away Nate."

"And I was just thinking of driving you to the grocery shop.” he pouted and dropped the cigarette to the ground, before stepping on it.

"How do you know I’m going grocery shopping?"

"What else would you do in the town center?"

I rolled my eyes.

"So? Do you want a ride there?"

I shrugged. “Sure. Wait, you’re not going to use the motorcycle, are you?”

"God no, do you want me to get her wet?"

"Her?” I snickered.

"Shut up. I’m taking the car. Can you wait here?"

I shrugged and sat down on the bench.

Two minutes later I was climbing in the passenger seat, wondering why he offered to give me a ride.

"Why are you giving me a ride?” I asked as I put my seatbelt on.

"Because you’ll have to return the favor."

"I can’t drive."

"But you can give me a ride."

"Wha-oh. God, you’re such a pig. But seriously, why?"

He shrugged. “Got bored.”

I focused on the road in front of us, and before I knew it, he was parking the car.

"I’ll wait outside, gonna smoke.” he said pulling out his cigarettes and lighter.

"Okay."

I entered the shop.

I was done with the shopping thirty minutes later, and it started to rain. I exited the shop and looked to my right, expecting to see him leaning against the wall like I left him, but he wasn’t there.

Great.

The street was deserted and his car wasn’t across the street in the parking lot.

I knew he’d to something like this. I knew it. God, I wasn’t going to talk to him again. Ever.

"Fuck you.” I muttered and went to hide under the roof in the bus station. The bus was coming in twenty minutes. I could wait that long.

After a few minutes I was cold, so I stood up and pulled my hood over my head. I moved around in the cold rain, to get warmer.

I screamed when someone touched my arm. My heart started bea-ting faster and I was ready to pass out when I heard a dark laugh.

I turned around and was met by a smirking Nate, with the hood over his disheveled hair.

"Where the fuck have you been? I was freezing!"

He laughed. “I was just playin’ with ya.”

"Well it’s not funny.” I mumbled.

"Let’s go before we get really wet.” he said and pointed towards a street where his car was probably parked. We walked in silence towards the car and I almost dropped the milk.

"God.” Nate groaned halfway to the car and snatched the groceries from my hands.

"Thanks?” I said and shook my hands.
