Diary of a virus

March 21, 2020, Italy. Three weeks had passed since the day David was admitted to the hospital in Rome. Nina went through more difficulties than he did, her symptoms were stronger and she suffered much more to recover than David. But even he who had an iron physical health, had low immunity due to stress crises and emotional crises. The two recovered, apparently without sequelae, they would only need physiotherapy, and were transferred to apartments where they would be isolated, so that they could continue to comply with quarantine and social isolation. They couldn't leave the country, no one could leave or enter. Flights were cancelled, schools were closed, cinemas, all public places were closed. People were ordered to stay at home and were subject to fines if they left the house.

His agents, Paul and Tony were also contaminated, but they were fine. They used all their power and knowledge to get them and David transferred to their home country, even if they needed to rent a private jet and continue social isolation from their homes, but David wouldn't leave without Nina, and even if they had to take Nina with them, against her will, she couldn't enter the UK, and David couldn't enter Norway.

Since March 13, Norway had banned visits to the country through Oslo airport. Norwegian and Nordic citizens, foreign residents in Norway and people staying in another country were allowed anyway. Other citizens and foreigners were analyzed separately. On March 16, this was extended to all Norwegian borders and non-Norwegian citizens. On March 14, the second and third deaths caused by COVID were reported19. On March 16, non-residents were banned from entering Norway.

So they decided to stay in Rome until the second order.

David and Nina were isolated in the apart-hotel, being accompanied by the medical team that was responsible for them. They made video calls every day, talked to their families, friends and people at work. They were following the entire crisis and the impacts of this pandemic closely, they were in the eye of the hurricane in the middle of Italy! They had nowhere to run, no one did!

The news about the rest of the world was also no different from the picture in Italy. Although the news around the world was disturbing, which only spoke of numbers and deaths everywhere, at least the gossip and entertainment sites forgot the gossip and comments about David for quite a while.

His team informed the press about his state of health, about his stay in Italy, and so they shifted the focus of all criticism, leaving Nina out this time. There was no longer any talk of photos of David walking freely through the streets of Italy with a mysterious woman. There was no longer any talk about the snogging the two had made outdoors on the balcony of the apart-hotel in the spa. There was no further speculation about David's love affairs. People were all terrified and terrified of an unknown future. They were panicking with fear of what the “coronavirus” might cause. Nina almost always spoke to Kara and Lyon, who were also recovering well. At least a relief for David and Nina's mind, in the midst of so many tragedies.

Crowds had been banned and anyone who disobeyed was subject to fine, so film and series recordings by the world's biggest producers announced the closing of their recording sets. Postponed movie releases...

TV shows, newspapers, “shows” and world events have had to adapt to lives streamed on the internet, or cancelled. Rock in Rio Lisboa, where singer Anitta was going to perform, was cancelled, Coachella, the biggest festival in the world that takes place every year, where Brazilian singer Anitta was also going to perform, was cancelled. That's what Nina was reading on several websites on her golden SonyZ1.

The whole world was at a standstill. Thousands of people have lost their jobs or been put on indefinite work permits. No one could leave, no one could enter, they could not receive visitors, there were many recommendations, use of masks, non-use of masks, many discussions and doubts about how to proceed, people had to keep two meters away from each other initially, then just a meter was enough... And the list went on and on and on!

Nina was very lucky. So lucky that not even winning the lottery would have compared to the luck she had, to be cared for along with David Nichols, by the best medical team in the place. She didn't have to stay in an intensive ICU being intubated to breathe through a device while in Italy, but if she did, she had one available for her. Despite the fact that the country was being the epicenter of the pandemic at the time, thousands of people in Italy and around the world did not have a David Nichols in their lives when they were infected by the virus, as no country and no health system would have had the capacity. of having so many breathing apparatus and intensive care units for so many patients at the same time. Patients who needed to be hospitalized for three to four weeks...

...And even if Nina had managed to get back on the flight to Norway together with Kara and Lyon, as they already arrived there sick, she would have been treated promptly and properly if she needed an ICU, as was the case with her friends, that because Norway did not have as many cases as in Italy, let us recall the facts exposed on several websites on the internet, including one of them, Wikipedia:

...On February 26, Norway confirmed the first case of Covid-19. The Norwegian Institute of Public Health announced that someone had tested positive for SARS-cov-2 after returning from China the week before. The patient was asymptomatic and without chronic health problems. She underwent voluntary isolation at her home in Tromsø.

On February 27, the Norwegian Institute of Public Health announced that three more people had tested positive for SARS-cov-2. Two of them lived in Oslo and were linked to the outbreak in Italy. The other lived in Bærum and was linked to the outbreak of the pandemic in Iran. All were subjected to voluntary isolation at home. While in Italy, on March 27, the Italian government reported that 919 people had died, setting another record for fatalities in the country. The next day, the death toll in Italy surpassed ten thousand deaths, after registering 889 new fatalities.

On February 28, one individual from Bergen and one from Oslo tested positive and were placed in isolation at home. Both had visited northern Italy. On February 28, there were six confirmed cases in Norway while in Italy the numbers were staggering.

In Norway on March 20, 32% of ICU patients with coronavirus were young people aged 25 to 49, on March 26, the country recorded 3,667 cases and sixteen deaths. As of March 28, the country recorded 3,811 cases and 20 deaths. On March 29, the country registered 4,281 cases and twenty-five deaths. While in Italy in total, as of March 28, more than 10,000 people had already died as a result of contagion by the virus in the country. All Italian territory is under strict quarantine.

Earlier on Friday, officials said the restrictions would likely be extended longer. Beginning in early April, however, the increase in the death toll began to fall across much of Italian territory. Measures taken by the government, such as social distancing, were identified as some of the reasons for the decline in daily fatalities...

Meanwhile, David and Nina tried to adapt more and more to each other in their routines. Soon they could travel to Norway together. For even though the virus was spreading fast all over the world, Norway still contained the numbers of deaths and infections.
