It is done

Emily...

It's been months since that incident and neither her nor Cole had mentioned a word about it.

She signed into the office and went straight to her Lab.

She was mentally, physically and emotionally exhausted.

Cole wanted something to eat and she had to make him breakfast.

And then her stupid car broke down on the road.

Could her morning get worse?

She stood up and walked towards her coat rack.

Wearing her Lab coat, she had a voice she hadn't heard over a year.

"Hey Em, what's up?"

She turned around and couldn't believe her eyes.

There in flesh and blood stood her best friend and lab partner, Lila McCoy.

"Lila" screamed Emily rushing towards her friend.

They hugged for a while with Emily soaking in Lila's new scent.

She smelt of baby products and had even increased in size.

"Oh my, Lila. You've increased in size"

Lila laughed already enjoying her friend's presence.

"I'm a nursing mother, Em. What did you expect?"

"How's the baby?" asked Emily, excitement written all over her face.

"He's good. Although he has a little mouth, he knows how to make the loudest noise" said Lila collapsing on a chair.

"Awwww, I'm sure he looks just like you" Emily cooed making Lila roll her eyes at her.

"How's the experiment going?"

Emily sighed, slumping on a stool.

"Fine, I've been using everything the botanist brought but non seem to have the slightest effect on a dog and I'm so close to losing my sanity"

"Have you tried the wolfsbane plant?"

"Many times. I've mixed the plant with a lot of concentrated acid yet nothing seems to work"

"Have you perhaps tried it in it's natural state?"

Emily stared at Lila like she had lost her mind.

Was this what pregnancy did to a person?

Lila noticed the look on Emily's face.

"I'm just saying. We know silver weakens werewolves so maybe a bit of that element and wolfsbane may terminate the wolves completely"

Emily thought of that possibility and it actually made a lot of sense to her.

She nodded her head making Lila smile at her.

"I'm not completely stupid, Em" Lila said with a smile.

Emily laughed enjoying the presence of her friend already.

***********

It's been a week since Emily has been experimenting on Lila's idea.

There's been progress so far and Lila does her best to assist but Emily noticed her friend looked ready to pass out.

"Get some sleep, Lila. You look ready to pass out"

Lila considered the idea for a moment.

"What about you? You've been doing all the work for almost a year"

"I'm fine, Lila. I wasn't the one growing a person inside of me"

Lila smiled gratefully at her friend.

"Thanks, Em. You're a gem"

"I know"

**********

Two hours of continuous bubbling and the mixture was ready.

Grinning her head off, she walked towards the couch where her friend laid asleep.

"Lila, it's ready. Wake up" said Emily gently nudging her friend.

That got Lila's attention.

She was awake instantly.

Lila's surprised face met that of Emily's excited face.

"Have you tried it on a dog?" asked Lila walking towards the lab table where the mixture laid in different test tubes.

"No, Lila. Dogs aren't wolves" Emily said confusion taking a hold of her features.

"Just to make sure, Em. We need to try it on a dog" said Lila already placing an order on the front desk.

Emily knew better than to argue with her boss so she took a step away from the spotlight.

It was her boss's idea but it was her work not that it mattered to her.

She needed this month's salary if she wanted to travel to Paris with her husband.

And that mixture was her way out.

So whatever Lila thought was best was best.
