Chapter 8

Riya's POV

" What the hell?? Who the hell removed the chair from here? And why?? " He looked around and saw me. He closed his eyes immediately.

I could not even say anything as I had committed another blunder.

"Everyone has left, what are you waiting for?? Planning to attack me ?? " He shouted.

" Er... Ummm... S.sorry, sir. I th.thought of cleaning the space before going away. " I said.

" You... ! You thought of cleaning?? But why did you remove my chair? " He was shocked at what I said.

" Sorry!! You have been standing for so long... I thought... So... " I tried to give the explanation but he never heard it.

" Wow!!! Please don't waste time thinking, no need to pressurise your peanut sized brain. You stupid girl!! " He said and scolded me at the top of his voice. I panicked and though tried, I could not hold my tears anymore.

They started rolling down my cheeks.

Parth's POV

" Please don't waste time in thinking, no need to pressurise your peanut sized brain. You stupid girl!! " I said and was shocked to see that a few tears rolled down her cheeks.

Shit!!

Not again!

" Oh, God!! What have I said to make you cry now?? " I asked.

" Nothing, sorry!! I wanted to apologise." She wiped her tears.

" Apologize for what? " I said, my tone had become softer.

" For... Er... Coffee? " She said. I smiled.

" And cold drink?" I asked

" Yeah, for Cold drink as well. " She said looking embarrassed.

" What about, you smashing my car and bike?? " I asked.

" Ok, that too. " She was looking guilty now.

" Spoiling my peaceful sleep in the morning? " I said with a raised eyebrow.

" It wasn't my fault entirely. " She said.

" Wasn't it?? " I glared at her.

" I don't want to argue. " She gulped and said.

" But you again splashed 4 cups of steaming hot coffee. What have I done to you?? " I asked like a victim.

" Sorry!! " She closed her eyes out of embarrassment and I felt that it was enough. I didn't want her to cry again.

" It's ok!! But from now, just stay at least 6 feet away from me. " I said with a naughty smile. She just nodded.

" May I leave now? " She asked.

" Of course, park your car at a safe distance from my bike and leave proper parking space for my car. " She just nodded and left. I shook my head and smiled at her clumsy nature.

Who removes a chair like that, without even telling?? Stupid girl!

You are stupid! Who sits like that without even looking for the chair. My inner voice said.

But I was sitting there earlier, I knew it was there. Let it be... No arguments!

*********

I reached home after having dinner at my favourite diner and after changing my clothes, I jumped into my bed and wanted to sleep for at least ten hours at a stretch without a single noise to disturb me.

Riya's POV

I was very embarrassed by what happened, I hope he wasn't hurt. I reached home and fixed myself a coffee and a sandwich, opened the cartons to finish the last of my unpacking and scraped the wallpaper.

Within the next hour, I was hard at work with the wallpaper scraper. I discovered that the previous occupant had gone in for papering on top of the old papers. I realised that any idea I had of having all the paper strips off in an hour was a vast underestimation.

I was too tired so took a break for 20 minutes, but had to finish it so I started again. After about 10 minutes, someone knocked on the door. I slipped on a loose t-shirt and pyjama pants over my tank top and shorts before I went to open the door.

Dr Parth was standing there with a scowl over his face.

" What are you doing at this time of night?? " He asked.

" What?? " I was shocked.

" Why are you making so much noise?? What are you doing?? " He asked again.

" Scraping the wallpaper off the walls. " I replied with a smile.

" What?? Why?? You do that to kill time and irritate your neighbours? " He was irritated as hell.

" No!! I didn't like the boring masculine wallpaper. So need to change it. " I informed him.

" Whatever!! Can't you stay put for some time?? I just came home and was trying to sleep. Please don't make noise. I need silence to sleep. " He said.

" Are there any shortcuts to paper stripping?? " I asked.

" What?? I don't know. But you, Miss, know it all, are you having trouble? " He mocked me.

" Sir, please help me. You are my senior. " I said sarcastically.

" I have not studied wallpapers so leave me out of it. No noise now. " He said glaring at me.

" But... I need to remove them. " I told him bluntly.

" I don't care!! Just no noise! " He came towards me snd I was scared but he said glaring at me.

" Then tell me an easier and faster way. " I said sheepishly.

" How difficult it could be to remove a wallpaper?? Don't irritate me. " He ran his hand in his hair.

" There must be five to six layers of paper on the ball at least, each and every one of them stuck down with super glue. " I said.

" Try sponging them down with a strong solution of detergent. Do anything in the world, just... don't make noise. " He said and went back to his home.

I made a face as soon as he was gone but he was right, he was getting disturbed. I realised that I could hear more or less every sound he made when he was in his room as we had a common wall and from my kitchen, I could even hear him moving around his kitchen, so I could understand his problem.

I stopped working and slept as I was also tired. In the morning, I started doing the rest of it. I didn't even dare to touch the other walls and thought of applying the paper on top of the last one.
