Chapter 27: The birthday party 2

The decoration was done and the party was about to begin. Sammie and Ann had decided to doll Maya up for the birthday party.

They kept on putting this and that on her body. From necklace, earrings, make ups and even a tiara.

Her birthday dress had been delivered almost a week ago.

"Wow.... You look beautiful dear", Sarah complimented as she came to greet the birthday girl.

"Thanks auntie", Maya replied with flushed face.

"We aren't even done with her yet auntie", Sammie said.

"Yes mom. Keep the compliments till we finish her hair and she has her dress on", Ann replied with a smile as she was the surprise look on her mother's face.

"Really...? You're not done yet?. She's not getting married Ann. It's a birthday party", Sarah said as she shook her head at her daughter's words.

"I expect to look as beautiful as this in two months time for mine. That's why I'm taking the time to doll my baby up. I don't want her to take revenge on my face when it's my time", Ann said in a joke and everyone bursted into laughter.

"Let me take my leave then but make things snappy. Everyone would start arriving soon. I need to go check the kitchen", Sarah said and left with a smile.

"Maya....", Victoria called as she entered her daughter's room.

"Mom....", Maya amswered.

"You look lovely honey...", Victoria complimented and Maya answered with a smile before replying.

"Its because the one who gave birth to me looks beautiful. And I'm glad she transferred it to me".

"So sweet....", Sammie and Ann reacted while Victoria pinched the cheek of Maya and smiled while pecking her.

"You're the best gift I've ever had", Victoria said emotionally.

"Thats why I don't need any other gift from you because I've the best girl one can ever have mom. I love you", Maya said as she teared up.

"I love you too darling", Victoria said as she wiped the tear that stained her daughter's cheek.

"You'd ruin your make up", Victoria said in a chuckle.

"Dad....!!!!", she shouted in enthusiasm almost hugging the phone like her father was there after snatching the phone from her mother..

Victoria was at the garden making sure everything was set when her phone rang. She smiled as she saw the caller ID.

"Sweetheart...", Victoria said with a smile when James face appeared on her phone screen after she picked up the facetime call.

James had called to see his daughter since he wasn't chanced to be there at the moment.

It is a very painful thing to be absent on the day of your child's ceremony. Of not for the fact that the company was important for their survival and upkeep, he would have left it all to be there.

"Another person's eye can never be like your's when it comes to business. I need to monitor things myself before we go into bankruptcy", James had told Victoria as he peeked her on the forehead before he left.

"Sorry James. I had totally forgotten about you immediately I saw our daughter", Victoria said with a smile.

"You can leave mom. I need to talk to Dad and you're distracting", Victoria said and her mother rolled her eyes while she made her way out.

Ann and Sammie where busy getting shoes, bags, and the likes while the whole thing was happening.

Maya and her dad talked for sometime. James apologizes to his daughter while Maya on the other hand understood really well.

"Its okay dad. Really. I'm no longer a kid and i understand so well", Maya said with a frown, pretending to sulk.

"You're still a kid to me Princess. No matter how old you get, you'll always be my kid", James replied with a chuckle seeing his daughter sulk.

"Yeah... yeah... Thanks for everything Dad but I've got to go", Maya replied and her father chuckle and they both said their goodbyes.

"Hey Cam, whats good?", Jerry asked through his air pod as he drove Megan to the next location. A cinema.

"I'm done with the last arrangement", Cam said on the other side.

"Is that Cam?. I never knew you both still catch up. Send my regards", Megan said with a wink.

"Wait... Are you on a date with Meg...?. Like are you both back together?", Cam asked all at once and Jerry swear he wished to shut them up with anything he could.

"Let's talk later Cam", Jerry said and Cam understood immediately.

Jerry and Megan both got to the cinema and bought their tickets. Jerry behaved like a gentleman by buying the popcorn and drinks.

Megan decided to pick a romance movie and they both went inside.

The movie started and got to a place where the couples where kissing and Megan started touching Jerry on the laps.

Smooching and massaging him. She walked her hands up to the place where his little man was and Jerry immediately got up, threw her her car key and went out.

Megan was surprised by this sudden act. She quickly ran after Jerry.

"Wait. Jerry wait...", she shouted after him while run after him.

Jerry stopped abruptly. "What do you take me for?. A man who knows nothing than having sex?", Jerry asked angrily.

"I...I...I...", Megan said, stammering while trying to find the right words to use.

Having a disgusted look clearly written on his face, Jerry stopped a cab and he went off.

Looking around her, Megan found a few people whispering and starring. She felt ashamed and quickly ran to her car, hiding her face with one hand as she walked.

Jerry got inside the house and freshened up.

Maya was finally set for the party. She walked down the stairs in golden color gown that sparkled all around.

She got to the garden and started greeting her well wishers with pecks and smiles but that smile suddenly disappeared as she saw a person she didn't expect.

"Long life Maya...", Issy said with a sly smile on her face and Maya immediately putted on a poker smile also.

Isabel hugged her and whispered to her ear.... "I hope you didn't break the bank for this... hmmm?".

This made Maya grimaced a little but quickly hid it again with a smile.

The ceremony proper began at the huge garden and the master of the ceremony was already cracking everyone up.

An hour into the ceremony and it was time to cut the cake. The MC was about to begin the order only for everyone to shift there attention from Maya to another direction.

Maya who noticed the distraction frowned and also shifted her gaze to know what or who had stolen the spotlight from her only to also open her mouth wide in surprise.

"Jerry.....????.... Like Jer.. Jer... Jerry Doyle? What is he doing here...?", Maya whispered swallowing hard.

Sammie who heard Maya's whisper turned to Ann as she gawked.

"Is that the hot sugar you're talking about...?, Sammie asked as she drooled at the site of the man.

"Yes Sam. He's the one", Ann replied and Sam shifted her gaze back at the man.

"He looks hot and sexy. Ohhh my...", Sam whispered and Ann chuckled.

Maya immediately got her composture and went to welcome the man.

Victoria who was also beside the girls heard everything and she looked at the man from top to bottom with a scrutinizing eye.

"Professor Doyle...?, thanks for coming over. I really appreciate", Maya said as she gave the man a hug.

"You're welcome Maya. Here's your gift...", Jerry said as he handed to her a black fancy little bag and Maya gave him a smile.

"Thank you Professor. I really appreciate it", Maya said as she collected the gift from him.

"I hope I'm not too late for the ceremony?", Jerry asked as she walked him to a seat.

"Not really. We're just about to cut the cake anyway", Maya said.

"By the way, you look lovely...", Jerry complemented and Maya felt her face flush.

Touching her cheek, she smiled at the man as she replied.

"Thanks for the compliment Prof."

"Look at her smile", Sammie said as she saw Maya blush while interacting with the professor.

"Sorry for the interruption everyone. Let's go back to cutting the cake, shall we...?", the MC said and they picked the ceremony up from where they stopped.

The ceremony ended and refreshments were served. Maya and her mother stood up to greet the guests.

"This is professor Doyle mom. He works at the school", Maya said and Victoria hugged the young man in front of her.

"Ahhhh.... So this is the man they were gossiping about", Victoria thought as she continued smiling at the man.
