Hi there!
If you're here and you're reading this I wanted to stop by and say hello. My name is Luciano, you may well know me under other names, including another name on this website. If you do, that's pretty dope. I am not particularly interested in keeping my identity a secret, in fact I'd almost prefer it if you knew who I was out the bat.
I am a fantasy author, columnist, and blogger who ghostwrites for a living and also writes stories for fun. I want to write stories professionally, and judging from the audience I have managed to acquire on even THIS story alone, it seems like that people like, at least a little bit, my stories.
Heck, if you wanna help with that and maybe donate to me to help me make that transition, there is a link in the "Author's Thoughts" section of this document that has links to let you do that. If you want to help me pay my rent and eventually afford insurance, I would be eternally grateful. I am physically disabled and want to write for a living.
I am writing this to talk a bit about the story and if you're a newcomer I recommend you read this before you read the story.
If you want to know what this novel is... Well, it's a jumpchain, choose your own adventure, essence meta story. That means that it will feature an absurdly overpowered protagonist, lots of potion-drinking, lots of silliness, and that the protagonist will get to interact with some of the most popular & powerful characters in fiction. You should know that going into the story. Now I'll break down the more important stuff you need to know.
What is the Essence Meta?
The Essence Meta is a Choose Your Own Adventure document that lets you imbibe potions that grant you powers. There are too many to list off, but some of them include the Essence of the X-Gene, which grants you mutant powers AND control over the Phoenix Force, and the Essence of the C'Tan, the god-like beings from the grimdark universe of Warhammer 40K. Our protagonist drank... not EVERY single essence, but just about every single essence.
The list of essences can be found in a link, itself inside of the link in the "Author's Thoughts" section of this post, which has lots of other valuable links you'll want to click on if you read this story.
What Are Jumpchains?
Well that's a hell of a question. Jumpchains are a type of connected choose your own adventure documents started by someone named Quicksilver who was joined by people who liked their ideas. "Jumps" refer to the individual settings a "Jumper" (or a protagonist in a jumpchain) goes to along their journey, or "Jumpchain".
Each "Jump" contains a document that lists information about the setting, a list of powers (or "Perks", though sometimes there is a difference between an actual superpower someone can get in the setting and the "Perks" in which case there will be sections for "Powers" as well as "Perks") a jumper can get, drawbacks they can take for more points (which will be familiar to many people who played Choose Your Own Adventures online), and usually companions they can meet in the adventure and then take along with them on further adventures along their jumpchain!
Most jumpers, including our protagonist, were given their powers by a benefactor (known in-community as their "Jump-chan", usually). These benefactors could be a range of entities from other jumpers who've completed their journey's and acquired some sort of omnipotence, to randomly omnipotent beings (or R.O.Bs), to just very powerful beings from fiction.
The purpose of a jumpchain can range from person to person and from benefactor to benefactor. if you want to learn about jumpchains, I recommend visiting the R/Jumpchain community, which is where I got my start!
Why did you write this novel, Author-person?
I wrote it because I saw the Essence Meta and fell in love with it, honestly. It was so beautifully broken and stupidly overpowered and that is my weakness in a thing. I love shit that gives me total freedom, and that silly choose your own adventure gave me so much freedom that I just had to write. Plus I've loved jumpchains since I first learned of them, and though I have another, darker jumpchain story on my other profile I wanted to write a more fun, free one.
If you like this story and want to help me make my dreams come true, you're doing that just by reading my works. If you like the thought of an eldritch, quasi-divine being who was once just a guy roaming the omniverse and causing mischief, give my story a read. You might like it, and if you do that's dope. If you don't, I hope you at least had SOME fun here.
If you really like my works and want to help me make a living doing what I love, check out the link in the Author's Thought section. It has links to links including ones you can donate too to help your friendly neighborhood author, and links to the Choose Your Own Adventures and Jumps I mention and write about in the story. It's all good fun, so I hope you stop on by!
