A Golden Dream

'Hi friends, I'm story-teller Sam! I hope you all are having a good day! Today we have a new story to tell, find somewhere to sit, relax, and enjoy the story! Today's tale is…'

'A Golden Night!'

The cartoon pulled out a book from their pocket and showed the cover towards the audience.

"Ooo, Mom, mom!" A girl called for her mother from the living room.

She was sitting on the carpet in front of the television with a stuffed doll in her hand that looked just like her.

"What?" Her mother popped her head out from the corner leading to the kitchen.

"Look, Sam!" She pointed to the screen excitedly as Sam began opening the book.

"Yes I can see, mommy's busy right now making lunch, I'll join you later." Saying this, her mother disappeared into the kitchen.

The girl stared at the corner before switching her attention back to show.

'Once upon a time, there was a little prince, he had golden hair and golden eyes.

The little prince was named 'name' because of his beautiful eyes! One day the prince grew bored of living in his castle, so he drew up a plan to escape, and see the outside world for himself!'

'I think this little prince is a bit naughty, don't you think?'

The girl nodded her head, and Sam resumed telling the tale.

'His plan succeeded, and he escaped from the castle! The prince was super excited to go on an adventure!

The prince though about the fairytales he read, and how the prince would save the princess from the big bad dragon!'

'Rawr!' Sam gave a dragon roar, causing the girl to widen her eyes in shock.

'So the prince headed to the dragon's cave to save the princess!

He arrived at the dark cave, and wandered inside in search of the princess. But then he heard a voice'

"Hm? A human child? What brings you here?"

The prince looked around, trying to locate the source of the voice.

"Silly child, it's far to dark to see, you should have brought a torch." The voice gently informed him.

Oh! A torch, the voice was right, he was foolish enough to have forgotten such an important thing! The prince had a surprised look on his face, realizing his mistake.

"Well, since you're already here you might as well stay." The voice said this before the cave began to get brighter.

The prince was shocked and confused on how he could see in the cave, but his shock did not end there. As the inside of the cave became more visible, he now noticed the very large rock in front of him.

Though if he squinted, it looked a bit more like a…

Dragon!

"D-Dragon!" The prince yelled while shaking in fear.

"I-I've come t-to s-s-slay y-you!"

The dragon looked at the prince, before bursting out in a fit of laughter.

"Hahah!" The dragon looked at the prince.

"Little girl why do you wish to slay me?"

"B-Because the king has ordered for you extermination!" The woman look at the dragon confidently, but his body still shook in fear.

"I know that is not what you wish to do young boy."

The boy stopped and looked at the dragon before bursting in tears.

"If I slay you, my parents will love me again." The boy said through his tears.

"All the hero's were praised and showered in love. If I slay you then everyone would love me just like those heroes."

The boy's black hair stuck to his face, of which was wet from tears. His black, calm eyes were turbulent and filled with loneliness and sadness.

"Ah… Poor child." The dragon looked down at the boy.

"If no one will love you, then I will do so instead." The dragon smiled.

The boy froze, tears still flowing from his eyes. He looked up at the dragon, the mighty, beautiful, and powerful dragon.

"I'm just a commoner, someone that could be stepped on or run over without thought. Why do want to love me? Just kill me please, I knew I would never slay you, I just want release." The boy looked down while clenching his shirt.

"Should there be a reason for loving such a beautiful soul?" The dragon questioned, "Must you die by my hand? I'd rather care for you instead." The dragon gently looked at the boy.

"But if you begin hate-"

"Such a thing will not happen."

"I am human, a dragon can not care for a human…"

"And who said such things?"

"I-I don't know…"

"Well then it must be lies."

"But if you are bothered by such things, then I will bless you."

"Bless?"

"Yes, that way we will be bound. A child and their mother, such a relationship should be cherished, no?" The dragon lowered their head, allowing the boy to see them clearly in the dim light.

The dragon had beautiful golden scales, and eyes the color of the sun.

"A mother?" The boy looked at the dragon, amazed by it's beauty.

"Haha, of course child, I may have never taken care of children-"

"But I have loved. And such a thing as loving you is a privilege."

The boy who had nearly stopped crying began to shed tears once more. He looked at his scratched hands, as the tears fell onto them.

"Shh, you need not cry anymore child, I hope that you will always smile instead. It'd suit you better than crying." The dragon transformed into a woman wearing white clothes, she gently held the boy's face and wiped his tears.

It was such a warm touch, something so unfamiliar yet so comfortable.

The boy smiled and hugged her.

The dragon smiled as well and hugged him back.

The boy's hair turned into a beautiful gold, and his eyes, though hidden by his mother's embrace, also turned into a pretty golden color.

Just like the sun.

'And they lived happily ever after, thank you for listening. I guess our time is up for today, Samuel is going to spend some time with his family.'

"Alex! I finished dinner!" Her father placed the food on the table and sat next to her. The sun gave her a gentle warmth, she stepped onto the grass and went to pick up the food from the kitchen.

"Dad, guess what dream I had last night!" She placed the food on the table.

Her father smiled, "What?"

"I was playing with my sister Alex!" Alex took a seat and looked at her father happily.

"Oh! And what game did you play with you older brother?" Her father looked at her in anticipation.

"Game, of course!" She looked at Caron before grabbing a plate for him.

"This little brother of mine needs to eat, I'll tell you the specifics after breakfast." She put some chicken onto his plate.

"Did you make this?" Caron looked at the food.

Alex nodded proudly.

"Wow! Big sister is so good at cooking!" He happily picked up his fork and began to cut paper.

"Don't cut yourself, sister" Alex said to Caron.

"Alright" Caron smiled and continued to read his book, 'A Golden Night'.

Wait a minute…

This isn't right…

Alex sat up, in shock from the confusing dream she just had.

'Wow, that was so weird.' She held her head, and look down in amazement, thinking about her dream.

'It felt so real, well the story part did, after that it just got confusing.'

'What was the story about again?'
