All June Verrier did was agree to unpaid work and walk into a temple. Never in his life did he think that he will unleash a demon this way. With the demon Lucirien promising him wonders in this life, what would he not ask for? Surely, he did find out what he would.

June Verrier was only a B-list actor shortchanged by his agency. He was only supposed to be a person rebelling against his old boss. How did he end up entangled in the affairs of the demons? No matter. Whatever came his way—be it a goon, an arrogant director, or a demon overlord—was dealt with precision. What was there to fear when he had become a devil’s darling?

June stood in front of the vague image of the woman sitting on the bed. She was humming the old song he heard in the hallway earlier, while her hand was caressing the huge baby bump on her belly. When June took another step, the woman looked up and assumed the same human look that June remembered she had. However, the smile on her face shook June's soul.

["It seemed that he has told you about me…"] There was a voice in the wind, but June didn't flinch as he heard it. He knew well that this woman was incapable of speech, but now that she had become a demon, she didn't need a physical voice.

"…Lady Mannering, what happened to you…?" June whispered as he took steps toward her. "Why did you become a demon?"

The woman rose from her seat and glided toward the human like a ghost, making June flinch back at the fast movement. The mother stood right in front of June and moved her head to the side. She continued to smile: ["Why not? Did he tell you what I have lost?"]
