Chapter 28: The Battle for Dtengmo

Anurak

Arisara charged recklessly towards the closing steel door. The light seeping through the crevice faded with each moment passed, and Dtengmo’s life was disappearing in that monstrous chasm.

“Arisara! At least wait for me! That’s a suicide mission!” I tried mind-linking her, but it was too late. She already lunged at the prison guard watching the front entryway. The second guard sheathed a pocket knife, but when he saw me drawing near, he shifted, knowing he couldn’t take on two wolves at once.

We tag teamed the second guard, with ease. He was debilitated, but not dead, as a faint heartbeat still pumped, moving his breast up and down, in labored breaths. Muwang scolded, “Again, you didn’t go for the throat? What’s with you?” He didn’t swear at me this time, or chide me, but his tone was disappointed, matching the look in Arisara’s eyes. In her platinum blonde fur, and golden eyes, she gnawed at the guard’s jugular, ending the slow pump of his heart beat.
