Chapter 30: Watermelon

DTENGMO!!!!! The child intoxicated my brain, her scent of refreshing watermelon coming to mind as I saw a demon towing her towards death. Anurak’s eyes raged incandescently, however he was too feeble to move.

I shifted my gaze to the scarlet eyes darting towards us, then back to my mate, paralyzed on the ground, and next to Dtengmo, wailing for a savior. I had to make a choice between my mate and my beloved Dtengmo, who filled my heart with more joy than I’d had in the last four years combined.

Anurak motioned for me to rescue Dtengmo. He mind-linked, weakly, “Pheuan, p-p-please, save our girl. B-b-bring her a happier life in a b-better world than this. I-I-I’ll be f-fine.”

I replied hastily, “You know you won’t make it! Don’t lie to me pheuan!” Drizzles of tear droplets cascaded from my eye slits.
