As the Alpha of Midnight Moon, my first priority is protecting my pack, not finding my mate. So when we are threatened by Dark Eclipse pack, my goal is to keep the threat away. I don't care about the upcoming Moon Goddess Ball, and I certainly don't care that I need a new Beta. Especially since the next person in line has been following me around like a puppy dog since we were little kids. Who cares if she's also beautiful?

The next morning, half of the team is late to our meeting, and all of them look exhausted. I know I should have canceled our regular meeting on the day after the Moon Goddess Ball, and I would have if it wasn’t for the problems we are having with Dark Eclipse. We’re in too much of a bad situation to let even one day go without meeting to discuss this situation.


While most of the younger people in the pack were at the dance, some of the older pack members were on patrol. I am eager to hear what they have to say about how the night shift went. Oscar, one of my most trusted older Omegas, is tapping a pen, waiting for the last few members of our group to show up so we can get started. Oddly enough, Zariah is not here yet. The meeting was supposed to start almost ten minutes ago. I don’t think she’s ever been late before, not even by thirty seconds.
