Chapter 35: Gravity

Micah

“Reece?” I repeat, wondering if I’ve heard Eli correctly.

“Yeah, Reece,” he says. Then, he leans in a little closer to my desk. “What’s wrong with Reece? She’s beautiful, and I thought the two of you liked one another. She’d make a really good Luna, Micah.”

I wonder if he’s just messing with me. He knows how I feel about Reece. While it’s true that she is beautiful, and the two of us have gone out a few times, I am not attracted to her that way, not anymore. I have a feeling she is gold-digging, after me just to be the pack Luna, and she doesn’t really want me for the right reasons, and Eli should know that of all people.

I clear my throat. “Uh… no, she’s not my mate,” I tell him.

He looks disappointed as his shoulders deflate. “Oh. That’s too bad. I was kind of hoping we could go through this together.”

“Go through what together? Finding a mate that we really don’t want to be attached to?” I snicker, but Eli doesn’t think it’s funny.
