As the Alpha of Midnight Moon, my first priority is protecting my pack, not finding my mate. So when we are threatened by Dark Eclipse pack, my goal is to keep the threat away. I don't care about the upcoming Moon Goddess Ball, and I certainly don't care that I need a new Beta. Especially since the next person in line has been following me around like a puppy dog since we were little kids. Who cares if she's also beautiful?

I need to do a little bit of investigation myself, so I decide to head out in the evening and do some checking of the perimeter of our territory. I am hoping to see if Oscar is up to anything, but I am also checking for members of Dark Eclipse. 


Zariah’s idea that they’re just circling around our land is in the back of my mind as I run around the outskirts of our pack lands. The patrols know I am out here alone, and they are on the other side of the territory from me. No one else should know my whereabouts, though, so if anyone is trying to keep track of where they are and stay as far away from them as possible, I should be able to at least pick up on their scent.


My mind wanders as I let my wolf run. I stayed in my office most of the day because it seemed like every time I went outside in the past few days, all I heard was rumor after rumor about Reece and myself. Going to dinner with her last night was a mistake.


Now, even more people are going to be talking about us.
