“Zariah!” I shout through the mind-link again, but she doesn’t answer me. I try to put together the words I caught, but it’s difficult because she was so far away, and it sounded like she’d been drugged or something, like her words were a bit slurred.
“What had she told me?” I ask, stopping in my tracks. I had finally picked up on a hint of her and followed her scent to the woods, but I haven’t found a single trace of her, and the smell of skunk in the area near the caves is overwhelming.
Thanks a lot, Tucker….
I thought perhaps she had gotten herself into trouble in the caves, but now that she’s made contact, I’m certain she’s not here anymore.
I heard a few words very clearly. Drugs. Garage… and Oscar. Besides her initial plea for help.
“What garage?” I ask myself.
I don’t know what to do! Normally, in this sort of a situation, I’d turn to Eli for help, but he’s not here. He’s gone to save the world.
